FAZER LOGINBlood on the floor. There’s blood on the floor. There’s a scent in the air that is familiar, but my mind is too foggy to place it.My mind keeps flashing back to that night. My uncle’s house keeps changing to my parent’s. His body becomes theirs. I keep going back and forth, the edges of reality blurring. I stop moving and close my eyes. I work overtime trying to calm my erratic breathing. I’m trying to be in the present, not get muddled down in the past.I imagine what the front room of my uncle’s house looks like. I recall the scents of my aunt, uncle, and mates surrounding me this afternoon. I imagine the rooms in this house so I can be tied to reality.Eventually, the fuzziness goes away. My mind stops jumping back and forth. There’s the unmistakable scent of metal in the air. He’s definitely bleeding, and I’m worried. I focus my hearing, and there’s a faint heartbeat.I move fast, not wanting to waste any more time. This is a critical time, and I need to save my uncle. HELP! HELP
~Ares~We follow Akia downstairs after she frantically grabbed her things. She got the call unexpectedly, but has to hurry back to school. This couldn’t have been more perfect if I had planned it myself. All I have to do is hang back, and I can end her uncle without anyone knowing it was me.“I really need ot speak to you, babygirl,” Adolf growls in my head, and I’m close to letting it loose. I don’t like his little pet name for her. That’s something her mates should be calling her, no one else.“I know Uncle D, but I really have to get back. I need to be there for an early gathering. I swear I will come back as soon as I can. Or better yet, I can call you when I get a chance and we can talk there.” I step into the area where I can lay eyes on them both. Her uncle looks exasperated, but he knows that nothing can be done. Her aunt gets a call and steps away to take it. When she comes back, she lets her mate know that she has to go in and handle an issue. It feels like the universe want
~Ares~I don’t walk back into the living room; instead, I ask for the bathroom. I needed to get away from this fool trying to insert himself in my relationship. I don’t care if that’s his niece. Akia’s my mate, my little flower. Absolutely no one gets to interfere with our relationship. As soon as I lock the door, I start pacing back and forth in the bathroom. There’s no way I can allow him to try to convince Akia that she doesn’t need me. What’s the plan? I sigh, looking at Adolf in my mind. There’s nothing else to do other than kill him. Are you sure? Am I sure? Since when does Adolf question me? Since when does he not think along the same lines as me?What the hell is going on with you, Adolf? Why are you questioning me right now? There’s a pause, silence getting heavy between us.It isn’t that I’m questioning you. I just want you to be sure that this is what we should do. We have to be careful, like last time, make sure that it doesn’t point back to us. That’s kind of more like A
I’m not able to say anything more to Uncle D before the front door opens. Aunt Kyla had been out and about, trying to get done with stuff before my mates get here. She wanted to be free to spend time getting to know them. Aunt Kyla walks into the house with a smile on her face. She walks over to the table and stands next to Uncle D.“I’m sure your conversation is fascinating, but there are two cars on their way to the house. I’m pretty sure your guests are here.” I hop to my feet, my heart beating a mile a minute. I’m nervous about this visit, but I know it’s necessary.I hurry to the door and throw it open. I run down the walkway as the cars stop and doors open. Apollo is the first person to step out of the car. I run into his open arms without delay. He lifts me and spins before kissing me gently. When Apollo puts me down, Atlas grabs my hand. I hurry over to him and practically melt as he wraps me in his arms. The heat from his body is doing things to me that I can’t handle.Atlas
~Apollo~The car is quiet, except for the hum of the motor. Atlas is neck deep in pack work on his laptop, and the warriors in the front are doing their jobs quietly. I’ve been sitting next to Atlas, lost in my own thoughts. We are heading to Akia’s pack right now so we can meet her family. We went back and forth for longer than I care to remember. Atlas and I were ready to go meet Akia’s family, and Ares was completely against it. I still don’t get what the big deal is. I mean, why wouldn’t he want to go meet his mate’s family? We overruled him, of course, so he pouted and decided to ride on his own. I don’t mind it because I really didn’t want to deal with him anyway. My mind continues to wander, and I can’t stop the chuckle that escapes my lips. Atlas stops moving and looks over at me. “What’s so funny?” I shake my head, trying and failing to wipe the smile off my face.“It’s nothing. I was just thinking about something. Please go back to work. I’m sorry that I interrupted you.” At
~Akia~My time in the woods was amazing. Atlas is someone that you never see coming, but when he does, he overwhelms you in the best way. We talked, and we made out a little. It was such an amazing time.I hate that he was called away to handle Alpha duties. I wanted to spend more time with him. I will say that the time we spent made me feel worse about how I handled our breakfast this morning. I’ve made a decision that I won’t do that anymore. If I have plans with one, I will not let the other interfere. My walk back to the packhouse is slow as I revisit my time with Atlas. I just want to savor our conversation and our action. Before I can brace myself, my body is pulled to the side, and my back collides with a tree. The moment my body moved, I closed my eyes, trying to keep myself grounded. When I open my eyes, I’m shocked. Ares is standing in front of me, his arm leaning against the tree trunk. His facial expression is neutral, so I have no idea what he’s thinking. “You let him all
