16: Karmina

There was a throbbing in her skull when she finally came to. The scent of mildew and moss filled her senses as her eyes fluttered open and took in the unfamiliar surroundings. The cold, damp stone floor is layered with straw, with a pile tucked off into the corner with a thin blanket draped over it. A small wooden bucket sat beside the makeshift bed. Moss painted the grey stone walls. No windows. Bars blocked her in the small space, with the only light given to her were torches positioned in their metal holdings. Trapped like a caged animal.

Karmina pushed herself to her feet when she noticed the golden glow of shackles binding her wrists together. She tugged against the restraints, but to no avail.

"You are awake." A soft, calm voice drew her attention back to the bars. A figure stepped out from around the corner, adorn in a bluish grey cloak with the hood shadowing her facial features.

"Who are you? Where am I?" Karmina questioned angrily. The individual stopped in front of the
