My bag slipped from my hand and fell on the floor, making a thud sound. It caught their attention. I closed my mouth with my hand as tears welled in my eyes. I felt like someone was chopping my heart into many pieces. I heard Nolan's heavy footsteps walking towards the door. I panicked then picked my bag in a swift move then ran from the door and headed down the stairs. I could hear Vivian's irritating voice calling Nolan. I ran out of the house and walked outside the gate. My hands were shaking and my feet were trembling, they almost gave me away. I shoved a taxi and got in, I let out a wail, making the taxi man raise his eyebrows. He stretched his hand to the back of the taxi and gave me a wipe. “Thankyou,” I mumbled in between sobs. “Where to ma'am?” He asked in a concerned voice. “ Celestial apartments,” I said. He nodded then drove off. I stood outside the grey door, my eyes burning with tears and my nose blocked. I rang the door bell, within a few seconds the door opened. A woman wearing pink pajamas looked at me with raised eyebrows for a moment. I just stood there, my eyes red and my bag held tightly in my arms, whimpering. “You poor thing,” she said in a soft voice, almost crying. I let out a heavy breath then cried loudly as I fell into her arms. She held me tightly as she rubbed my back, letting me cry it all out. She walked me into the house, still holding me as she closed the heavy door. We sat on a couch. “Honey, who's responsible, I will make them pay,” Rubby said in a confident voice. Her words made me cry even more. Ruby has been my friend since high school, she was around when Vivian's mother came and ruined our family. She had taken the role of being my best friend and also the sister I never had. She gave me some warm water. She waited until I calmed down and I narrated the whole story. I left the part that I was pregnant out because I didn't want her to worry. She clenched her fists as I talked. “ That bitch, she's just a homewrecker like her mother,” she cursed. That was entirely true. The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree. I contemplated. “Can I crush here?” I asked finding my voice. “Of course honey, this is also your home.” She cooed. I hugged her, and admittedly I felt safe for a moment. That night, Nolan had called me but I had ignored his calls. I had turned off my location so that he wouldn't track me, he was the last person I wanted to see. I wondered when those two had met. I couldn't sleep the whole night, I was planning on how I was going to react when I saw them, I should just slap the two, or maybe run them over. Morning came and I had to face harsh reality. My stepsister was carrying my husband's bastard. And coincidentally, I was also pregnant with his child. I laughed bitterly. I bid Rubby goodbye and drove back to the villa with her car. I wasn't going to hide forever, and besides I wanted to see their cheating faces and tell me about their sins. Rubby had wished me good luck, I really needed it. I arrived at the villa and it was so quiet. I thought that maybe Nolan had gone to work. I walked into the house and froze in my step as I heard Nolan's furious voice. “Where the hell were you?” I rolled my eyes, but didn't turn to look at him. “ I am asking you a question," he continued,” but I walked out on him and went towards the stairs. “Don't you dare walk out on me,” he shouted but it all went to deaf ears. I had reached up the stairs when I bumped into Vivian. She was wearing a huge grin on her face like she was scheming something. Suddenly she slapped herself on the face then screamed, “ lily I'm sorry please don't hit me,” she screamed loud enough to get Nolan's attention. And as expected Nolan ran fast up the stairs to save his princes in distress. He went to Vivian's side and touched her now red cheek. The whole time I stood there looking at their pathetic little show. “Lily, what the hell is wrong with you?” He asked within clenched teeth, his eyes burning with rage, he could even breathe fire if he had the chance. I rolled my eyes, “ I don't have the time for this, you two are pathetic,” I said, Vivian looked at me with a wronged expression, her hand rubbing her cheek. I walked past them when a strong hand grabbed me, “apologize to her right now,” Nolan shouted. “Me, apologize,” I let out a bitter laugh, “ why would I? I didn't hit her.” I said. “Don't blame Lily, it's all my fault,” Vivian said in a pitiful voice. “ Like hell it is,” I shot back, she frowned at my words. “Let go of my hand,” I said as I struggled to break free from his grip, “what, you're going to protect your mistress instead of your wife?” I asked in a mocking voice. He finally let go of my hand. I touched it for a minute then turned and walked into my room. I didn't want to see them. I walked into my closet, prepared a suitcase but then changed my mind. I walked back and sat on the bed. It seemed that they didn't know that I was aware of their little affair. I decided to give Nolan one more chance to explain.LilyI don't know how long I had drifted to sleep but I was woken up by a nurse, she was wearing a pink uniform, her hair tightened into a ponytail, she flushed me a gentle smile as her arm tapped my shoulder gently. “ Miss, it's time for the patient's medication, you'll have to leave.” I woke up, and sat up straight, my eyes were red from all the crying and still sleepy, anyone who saw me would say I looked miserable. Although I had all the reasons to be. I nodded in understanding and took my bag. I stood up, gave my mother one final look and walked out. My head was aching, I guess it's from all the frustration, and my stomach growled in hunger. I almost forgot I had a stranger in there and he or she didn't care what I was going through and needed to eat. I walked to the hospital's cafeteria and wanted to order a coffee but I changed my mind. Although I was going through it, it was unfair to feed my child harmful food. If I remember correctly, doctor Hayes forbade me from taking ca
Lily I walked out of the door and got into my car, tears welled in my eyes. My heart twisted painfully in my chest, three years of marriage and for what. I twisted the key and the engine roared to life, I knew where I was going. I was going to see the person who never stopped loving me and caring for me, even though sometimes I got stubborn. I drove into the hospital's parking lot and took the elevator to my mother's room. She was on the fourth floor. The elevator's door slid open and the smell of detergent and medicine hit my nose. I walked hastily to my mother's room door. I hesitated at the door for a few minutes before tightening my fingers around the door handle and finally pushing it open. The room smelled of antiseptic and silence. It was quiet, not peaceful, just quiet which made my heart shift painfully in my chest. My mother laid there, tubes running through her mouth and nose, the machines were the only things that dared to make a sound. “Mum,” I called out, my voice
LilyI blinked at his words, I had been waiting for him to say the words but I didn't expect them to hurt this much, my heart twisted in my chest, he didn't even bother to explain how this all happened. I wanted to know when he began to cheat on me, when he and my sister decided that it was best for them to have an affair.“Divorce,” I said gulping, “ alright.” Something like confusion pasted in his face but it was long gone a second after it appeared. Was he expecting me to beg, I would never, infact I would never stoop so low to their infidelity and beg, all that I had experiencef in this marriage was scorn, not forgetting how his mother had mistreated me for being barren, and now this, I think it would be best if I leave.“I'll have my lawyer draft the papers and sent them to you, make sure you sign them,” he said in a deep voice. I nodded my head and made my way to the stairs when his voice stopped me. “And by the way, Vivian is sleeping in the master bedroom, please don't do anyt
LilyThe whole night there was no sign of Nolan, he didn't even come up to check on me. I stayed up all night contemplating of my next move, but I knew that bitch Vivian has a lot of schemes up her sleeve. Saves me the trouble. In the morning I woke up, I went to the mirror and saw a ghostly figure staring back at me. I was pale and my eyes had bags for staying up all night. And I had starved my baby yesterday. I needed something to eat as my stomach grumbled.I walked out of my room and headed for the stairs, just then Vivian appeared In front of me, it's like she had been waiting for me to come up from the room. She gave me a wide smile and without saying a word she screamed, “Lily no, please let me go,” she made to fall down the stairs but I held her hand, she pulled me making the both of us to roll down the stairs together. The pain was incrustating, I held my stomach, trying to protect my baby, while Vivian cried so loud, drawing the servants attention. I didn't know Nolan was a

LilyI was woken up with a sharp scream coming from outside, it was no doubt that it was Vivian seeking attention. Nolan stood up from the bed panicking, he didn't even bother to put a shirt on as he ran out of the room.I rolled my eyes as I followed him to the guest room. He walked towards Vivian's bedside and held her in her arms. She looked like a scared little cat, even I could have been fooled by her act, were it for us not growing up together. She wore a silky red night gown which exposed her body, she was curled up her head touching her knees as she mumbled something. Her thighs and her back were exposed and this infuriated me. Nolan held her in his arms as he mumbled something to calm her down. How cute. I stood by the door as a statue. As if remembering something Nolan looked up at me, “ shouldn't you be sleeping?” He asked flatly.I wanted to say something but my words didn't come out. “Go and get some sleep, I'll take care of her?” He commanded.“But Nolan, she looks fine
