Chapter 006

Lily

I blinked at his words, I had been waiting for him to say the words but I didn't expect them to hurt this much, my heart twisted in my chest, he didn't even bother to explain how this all happened. I wanted to know when he began to cheat on me, when he and my sister decided that it was best for them to have an affair.

“Divorce,” I said gulping, “ alright.” Something like confusion pasted in his face but it was long gone a second after it appeared. Was he expecting me to beg, I would never, infact I would never stoop so low to their infidelity and beg, all that I had experiencef in this marriage was scorn, not forgetting how his mother had mistreated me for being barren, and now this, I think it would be best if I leave.

“I'll have my lawyer draft the papers and sent them to you, make sure you sign them,” he said in a deep voice. I nodded my head and made my way to the stairs when his voice stopped me. “And by the way, Vivian is sleeping in the master bedroom, please don't do anything to stress her.”

I frowned at his words, she was sleeping in our bedroom and he was just okay with that, cheating on me wasn't enough and now he was mocking me, tears filled in my eyes, I gave out a bitter laugh, stress her huh, I was also pregnant but he didn't really care. All he cared about was that homewrecker. I didn't want to go up any more and meet that scheming woman, I turned and made my way to the door.

Nolan didn't stop me, instead he made his way to the study. So much for wasting my three years. I was almost at the door when it suddenly opened and Nolan's mother walked in with his sister next to her. “Oh look, what do we have here, the hen that can't lay eggs.” She began in a horse voice.

I rolled my eyes and tried to walk past them but she held my hand back. “Where do you think you're going, iam talking to you.”

“ Let go of my hand,” I warned.

“ What, you've got the backbone to talk back now, is this how you talk to your elders,” she said in a sarcastic voice.

Elder, this woman would have been the death of me,since I arrived in this house she swore to make my life a living hell. When Nolan told them about my condition she hated me even more, as if it was my fault being barren.

“ Mum,” Grace, Nolan's sister said in a sweet annoying little voice, “ I'm hungry, let lily go and make something for us, that chicken soup that I like.”

I rolled my eyes, “ did you hear that, hurry and go make her that chicken soup.” My mother in law said as she widened her eyes with scorn as if talking to a mere servant.

“ Why don't you go and make it yourself,” I retaliated. They seemed surprised at my words, well they should be, they always ordered me around and like an obedient lamb I always followed without complain, but not today.

“How dare you refuse,” Nolan's mother's voice came, grace looked wronged but I couldn't care less, Nina, Nolan's mother, raised her hand in the air ready to teach me a lesson but I held it and blocked her from slapping my face, her eyes widened in shock.

“How dare you, you want to fight back,” she shouted as she tried to free her hand from my grip, I let go but she dramatically trembled back.

“Nolan should have divorced you long ago, I don't know why he's still with you.”

“ Well news flash, my dear mother-in-law, were getting a divorce,” I said sarcastically.

“ Finally that boy has come to his senses, I don't even know what he saw in you,” she said her eyes sizing me.

It seemed that Nolan heard the commotion and came to his mother's aid, “ what's going on here?”

“Nolan,” Grace said as she ran to his side, “ this bitch wants to beat up mother,” Nolan narrowed his eyes towards me. “Lily is that true,when did you become so vicious.”

I stared at him blankly, in the past I would have explained that I didn't do anything wrong but he wouldn't believe me, so what was the use to explain.

“I was just leaving,” I said flatly.

“ You won't walk out that door without apologizing to my mother,” he said in a cold voice.

I looked at him, then curled my lips into a smile, making them widen their eyes in shock, “ watch me.”
