Lily

“What the fuck are you doing here,” I said between clenched teeth.

Nolan stood from his chair as if not expecting me. “Lily, what are you doing here?” He asked unbothered by my outburst.

“ Well you should tell me what she's doing here?”

Vivian rolled her eyes, then she stood from the chair that was across Nolan's, she wore a red dress that hugged her curves, her mouth was red with exergerated red lipstick “ hello dear sister, long time no see, what? Aren't you happy to see me?” She asked, her voice feigning being wronged.

“Happy, are you out of your fucking mind, what the hell are you doing in my husband's office.”

“That's enough,” Nolan shouted, I looked at him with disbelief. He looked unfazed. “ Lily what are you doing here,” he asked in an irritated tone, as expected.

Nolan had never really seen me as his wife, he always acted so cold towards me for reasons unknown to me. And now he was protecting my stepsisters feelings not caring about how that made me feel.

“ I wanted to talk to you,” I said in a shaky voice.

“Well can't it wait, did you really have to show up here unannounced and make a scene,” he said in irritation.

Tears welled in my eyes as I pointed at my chest, “ I am making a scene,” I said with a shaky voice. The whole time Vivian was smiling as if what I was doing was the most hilarious show she had ever watched. I hated her, I felt like I could just jump and slap the smile off her face. She had taken everything from me, since she and her mother came into our lives, my life had been miserable, she took all of my father's love and turned him against me, I was the bully, while she, well, she was the most perfect adorable daughter.

“Come on Lily dear, can't I visit my brother-in-law,” she said in a fake sweet tone, making Nolan to grin. He had never smiled at me, but somehow Vivian's act made him act like a sweet little baby, pathetic.

“It's time to leave, I'll see you back home,” Nolan said dismissively. I darted my eyes between the two, my eyes burning, he didn't even care. Without thinking, I barged out of his office. Tears now rolling down my eyes. My marriage was the worst, I was never happy and now, the man who was supposed to protect me was taking sides with the woman who hurt me. I didn't even know how he was going to react if he knew I was pregnant, bet he'll ask me to get rid of it. Over my dead body, this child was going to be my only family, I'd rather die than do something like that.

I walked into the elevator ignoring all the curious glances around the office. When the elevator reached the ground floor, I wiped off my tears and walked out. I didn't want anyone to pity me. So Leila knew that Vivian was up there and I would cause a scene. Was it the first time she came here or were they hiding something from me. Nolan's secretary wouldn't act so protectively like that if she didn't know something. I wanted to ask her but it would make me look like the insecure wife.

I rushed into the car and instructed Mike to drive back home. We arrived at our ‘billion dollar villa’. I walked to the master bedroom and opened the mahogany door, my vision was blurry from the tears. I lay in the bed as I stared at the ceiling. Nolan had humiliated me In front of that bitch Vivian, it made my heart twist painfully on my chest. Was there something going on between them? I couldn't help but wonder.

“ No it can't be,” I convinced myself. Besides, these three years that I had been married to Nolan, there wasn't even the tiniest speck of another woman, he hated women and no one really came near him, even me, his legal wife, I was at his mercy, he was only interested in me when he was in the mood. I could count the number of times we had slept together and fulfilled our marital life.

My hand found its way to my belly and I rubbed it gently, “ don't worry baby, mama will protect you no matter what, I will love you.” I said in between sobs.

I didn't know how long I had been spacing out, then I heard a gentle knock from the door. “Come in,” I said in a low voice. Betty, our family's nanny came in, “ma'am, me Nolan is back, and he has a guest and is asking for you downstairs,” I raised my eyebrows, a guest? Were we expecting someone?

“Why can't you just show the guest to their room?” I was confused. Inviting guests wasn't part of my job, besides this villa had a lot of servants. “Well ma'am, it's because sir wanted you to specially do it,” she said in a soft tone.

I sat up from the bed then stood, “ alright then, let's go,” I said as we walked out of the bedroom. I hadn't changed my clothes from earlier and my head was on fire from all the crying.

I walked down stairs, my hair was a mess from turning, “Nolan, you called for me,” I called out as I made my way to the sitting room.

My eyes went out cold as I saw the guest. “ It's you again,” I said in irritation. Vivian stood at my sitting room, a pink suitcase in her hand.

“Nolan, what's going on?” I asked impatiently.

Nolan looked at me with unbothered eyes, “Vivian is my guest,please show her to her room,” I let out a bitter laugh. He looked at me with raised eyebrows.

“You want me to show this snake to her room, you got to be kidding me,” I said as I folded my hands on my chest.

“Lily, behave yourself,” he said through clenched teeth. “ I expect you to be proper and show our guest to her room.

I let out a mocking laugh again, “our guest, she's your guest, why can't you show her to her room yourself,” I said. Nolan looked at me with venomous eyes but I was oblivious.

“Nolan, it's okay if my sister doesn't want me here, I can just leave,” Vivian said in that annoying fake voice trying to make an act of walking to the door, but Nolan held her back.

“Come with me,” he said in a gentle voice. He has never been that gentle with me. They looked so good anyone would think that they were the real couple and I was an outsider. Nolan took her suitcase and held her hand as they walked past me and made there way up the stairs. I stood there looking at them as my heart broke into a thousand pieces.
