INICIAR SESIÓNLily
“I came for answers,” I said in a flat tone, my father's expression hardened, I could tell that he was already irritated and I had not yet said what I wanted. “What nonsense are you talking about now,” he said dismissively. In the past, his tone would make me flinch and apologize profusely for wasting his time, but not today. “Three years ago,” I began, each word deliberate, “ I was told that I could never have children, that I was infertile and had a zero chance.” I stared at them instinctively, then I saw it, a flicker passed between them, but they masked it again. My heart thudded in my chest as I continued, “ but now,” my voice was tight in my throat, I was struggling despite how controlled I tried to be, “ I've found out that it wasn't true, the diagnosis was all fake.” They stared at me blankly, as if I wasn't supposed to figure out what was being hidden. “If I remember correctly, I was with you,” I pointed to Clara,” she glared back at me, “ you're the one who recommended the doctor,” I felt dizzy, I could barely stand, my feet felt cold, my blood ran stingy through my veins. “Why would you do this, I mean haven't you taken enough already?” Clara's laugh rang in the air, I froze for a moment, this witch was very audacious, but laughing right now, I wanted to jump and beat the shit out of her. “Oh, you poor thing,” she said almost amused, as she shook her head, “ you actually came all this way for that?” My stomach dropped, they were not even denying it, they seemed so proud of their sins being read to them. My father leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as he looked at me with cold eyes like I was something beneath him. Then he opened his mouth. “Yes,” he said flatly, “ we did it.” His words hit me like a hedge hammer, I wasn't expecting him to be working with them. What did I ever do to deserve a blind father. “Wh…what?” I asked in a choked voice just to make sure I heard that right. Clara wore that cruel smile, “ what, didn't you want to know? Now you have your answers, it isn't so hard to arrange a fake diagnosis when your pockets are full.” My breath hitched for a moment, how cruel could these people do, it's like it was their duty to make me miserable in this life. “You..” my voice cracked before I could stop it, “you made me believe that I was..” “Infertile?” My dad cut me off in a bored tone. “Yes…we did and?” I narrowed my eyes. “But why, what did I ever do to you?” Clara's eyes gleamed, “because you were in the way.” “ What do you mean?” “ You think you could just have a good life, a rich husband, the Thompson name, infact your sister said she liked your husband, she couldn't eat because of it, we had to do something.” Are these people serious, so they went through all this so that Vivian could have Nolan. I let out a laugh. “Is that the same thing that you did?” I asked Clara. She gave me a bloody stare. “How dare you?” “How dare I? I'm just laying out the facts for you. Did the world run out of men, or is it that you just love being mistresses?” Clara wanted to stand up, but Patrick held her. “ You ruined my life.” Clara rolled her eyes, “ oh please, if your husband left you that easily, maybe there wasn't much to ruin.” Maybe she was right on that part, Nolan didn't really love me, I wonder why I did wrong, one day he just snapped then began acting so distant towards me. Clara's phone rang and she excused herself to pick it. My father turned his gaze towards the television. “ If there's nothing else, please leave my house,” he said, his eyes never leaving the TV. I was about to protest but I chose not to, I already had my answers, but that did not lift the weight off my shoulders like I had expected. I turned around and walked towards the door, each footstep heavy. I twisted the door knob when my phone rang. It was a call from the hospital. I answered it almost immediately, my heart hammered in my chest, I wasn't prepared for another bad news, “hello ma'am, we are calling to inform you that your mother has woken up.” I stayed silent for a second. Something stirred inside me, relief washed through me. Some good news finally. “I'll be right there,” I said hurriedly before hanging up. I saw light at the end of the tunnel, she was finally awake, tears of joy filled my eyes. I walked out of the villa, and hailed a taxi. “To the Thompson corp hospital,” I instructed the driver. He nodded then pulled off.Lily“I came for answers,” I said in a flat tone, my father's expression hardened, I could tell that he was already irritated and I had not yet said what I wanted.“What nonsense are you talking about now,” he said dismissively. Lily I arrived at the villa, the hell of a home I grew up in, I felt nauseous by the sight of its white walls and the so called beautiful garden planted with venom by my witch of a stepmother.I walked to the front grey door, my blood boiled in my veins, I curled my hands into tiny balls untill my knuckles felt numb. I hated this place, I wasn't planning on coming back anyway because everyone who breathed here hated me to the core, and the lawful owner, my mother was taken out and she was a vegetable at the hospital. I took in a deep breath then twisted the golden door knob.As always, that venomous woman was seated on the couch, draped in red silk while enjoying sipping tea. A maid was massaging her shoulders as another servant was on one knee, a plate full of grapes in hand as she fed her one at a time. Her face was covered in a white face mask."Wow… you’ve really settled in, haven’t you? Must be nice playing queen in a kingdom you stole.” I shouted, making the servants stop what
LilyThe next day, I woke up early, Ruby was still asleep, her couch was quite comfortable since I didn't see the reason for me to walk all the way to the bedroom so I slept in the coach the whole night.I was hungry, so I walked into the kitchen and fixed myself a drink. There were bananas in the fridge. I warmed some milk and blended the mixture to make a smoothie. It was soothing to my stomach, at least it was nutritious and something I could go by.I was downing the nutritious drink when pain shot through my head like a lightning strike, it was sudden and unforgiving. I winced at the pain, I reached out my hand to touch my head when a sharp stab pierced my temples, making it hard to even think straight. It felt like needles pressing into my skull, each second worse than the last. This all came from the crying yesterday and the stress I was going through. I wanted to go to the bathroom and take some of Ruby's painkillers then I remembered doctor Hayes advice. I shouldn't take just
LilyI don't know how long I had drifted to sleep but I was woken up by a nurse, she was wearing a pink uniform, her hair tightened into a ponytail, she flushed me a gentle smile as her arm tapped my shoulder gently. “ Miss, it's time for the patient's medication, you'll have to leave.” I woke up, and sat up straight, my eyes were red from all the crying and still sleepy, anyone who saw me would say I looked miserable. Although I had all the reasons to be. I nodded in understanding and took my bag. I stood up, gave my mother one final look and walked out. My head was aching, I guess it's from all the frustration, and my stomach growled in hunger. I almost forgot I had a stranger in there and he or she didn't care what I was going through and needed to eat. I walked to the hospital's cafeteria and wanted to order a coffee but I changed my mind. Although I was going through it, it was unfair to feed my child harmful food. If I remember correctly, doctor Hayes forbade me from taking ca
Lily I walked out of the door and got into my car, tears welled in my eyes. My heart twisted painfully in my chest, three years of marriage and for what. I twisted the key and the engine roared to life, I knew where I was going. I was going to see the person who never stopped loving me and caring for me, even though sometimes I got stubborn. I drove into the hospital's parking lot and took the elevator to my mother's room. She was on the fourth floor. The elevator's door slid open and the smell of detergent and medicine hit my nose. I walked hastily to my mother's room door. I hesitated at the door for a few minutes before tightening my fingers around the door handle and finally pushing it open. The room smelled of antiseptic and silence. It was quiet, not peaceful, just quiet which made my heart shift painfully in my chest. My mother laid there, tubes running through her mouth and nose, the machines were the only things that dared to make a sound. “Mum,” I called out, my voice
LilyI blinked at his words, I had been waiting for him to say the words but I didn't expect them to hurt this much, my heart twisted in my chest, he didn't even bother to explain how this all happened. I wanted to know when he began to cheat on me, when he and my sister decided that it was best for them to have an affair.“Divorce,” I said gulping, “ alright.” Something like confusion pasted in his face but it was long gone a second after it appeared. Was he expecting me to beg, I would never, infact I would never stoop so low to their infidelity and beg, all that I had experiencef in this marriage was scorn, not forgetting how his mother had mistreated me for being barren, and now this, I think it would be best if I leave.“I'll have my lawyer draft the papers and sent them to you, make sure you sign them,” he said in a deep voice. I nodded my head and made my way to the stairs when his voice stopped me. “And by the way, Vivian is sleeping in the master bedroom, please don't do anyt
