~ Aria's POV ~

This wasn't what I wanted. I didn't tell such a lie so he could take me to Greystone Falls. If we go to Greystone Falls, how will I show him my cousins when they were just made from my imaginary lies? And my mom? I didn't want to talk to her just yet. I haven't called her back after she called, and she didn't bother to call again.

If we actually go to Greystone Falls, Raven will definitely catch on that I’m lying. And I can’t let that happen. I can’t bear to see the disappointment in his eyes. If I had known he was taking me to Greystone Falls, I'd have lied with another town.

Oh my God! What am I going to do? What excuse can I come up with so we don’t go to Greystone Falls?

"Are you okay?" Raven asked, reaching for my hand and folding it gently in his cold palms. I gave a small, fake nod.

"All right then… let’s go," he said, his voice calm as he reached for the ignition. But just before the engine roared to life, I let out a sharp, painful scream that made him freeze.

  • Torn Between Monsters    Chapter 77

~ Aria's POV ~I arrived at the so-called party with Callista, but strangely enough, there was no one in the room. The room was decorated with balloons, ribbons, music speakers, and whatever could make a good party."Where are the rest of them?" I asked, turning to look at Callista. She was dressed beautifully in a short cocktail gown with a cat-eared headband perched on her head. Her makeup was heavy, almost too much, but she looked beautiful in it."Maybe… we came earlier than expected," she replied, her eyes darting around the room, her lips curling into a forced smile."That's why we should've come here with Darian. He was the one who invited you," I said.I hated the fact that I came too early to a party I wasn't invited to. If not for Callista, I wouldn’t have been here."I talked to him earlier, and he said since I was going with you, that I should go before him. Don't worry, Aria, I'm sure they'll all be here soon," she said, her voice barely audible as her eyes moved around.

  • Torn Between Monsters    Chapter 76

~ Aria's POV ~Lucian stared at me, waiting for my answer. This was the perfect moment to tell him how I felt, yet my voice faltered. Why was I holding back? Was it because of my feelings for Raven and Thorne too?"Little Sparkles," he called in a whisper.I cleared my throat, my gaze flicking sideways as I searched for the right words. I had brought this upon myself by letting my jealousy show, and now I had to dance to the rhythm of the tangled emotions I’d created."Well..." I began, but I was interrupted by the voice of Sybille."You're finally awake?" she asked.Lucian was backing her, so he turned to look at her. A smile tugged at his lips before he strode toward her to give her a hug."Do you miss me that much?" he asked.Sybille pushed away. "When will you stop being stubborn?""I'm fine, aren't I?" he asked with a grin."You think it's funny? You know what? I shouldn't have agreed to your pleading. If I hadn't done that, you wouldn't have been suffering because of her....""S

  • Torn Between Monsters    Chapter 75

~ Aria's POV ~I blinked several times, my mind scrambling to process what I’d just heard. Was Lucian… confessing his feelings for me? Did he feel the same way I felt for him? My heart was caught between excitement and panic. What should I do? How do I respond to him? This wasn't the first time I'd been hearing a confession from a guy, but Lucian wasn't just any guy. What should I say? Should I say I love him too? But that wasn't what he said. Was obsession also the same thing as love? These questions repeated themselves continuously in my head. Then Lucian held my hand and smiled like he was known for."It's not a pressure. You don't have to say anything," he said. Here he goes again, making me suspicious that he might, one way or another, be hearing my thoughts. But he already said he could easily make a guess. And in this situation, anyone would surely know what I was thinking through my body language."You're sure about that?" I asked, swallowing hard, as if there was a lump lodge

  • Torn Between Monsters    Chapter 74

~ Aria's POV ~Lucian walked toward me and grabbed the photo album. He didn't look sick anymore and was a little bit of the Lucian I was used to. His lips weren't dry or cracked anymore."Why are you here? Shouldn't you have gone back to the Academy?" he asked."I didn't go back to the Academy…" I started, but stopped halfway, shaking my head. No. I should be the one asking questions."Why do you have so many pictures of me? Have you been watching me my whole life?" I asked."It's not the way you think," he whispered."Then tell me, Lucian. You knew me all this time and pretended you didn't?!" I asked. I didn’t mean to raise my voice, but the shock and disbelief came out sharper than I intended. It was really shocking to know that Lucian had pictures of my entire life. He had been watching me, and yet I didn't have a clue about it."Why are you so quiet? How did you get to know me? Didn't you say you've been in Velmora your whole life?""I never said that, Little Sparkles. I've lived

  • Torn Between Monsters    Chapter 73

~ Aria's POV ~I couldn't understand what she meant by Lucian leaving his sick bed after he found out I was in pain. Why was he in this state because of me? How does he feel my pain when we don't share the same soul?"Lucian feels my pain?" I muttered, my eyes darting between Lucian and Sybille."He...""Sybille," Lucian called her name with a faint voice. She rushed to him immediately, her expression tightening. "I don’t know why you’re so stubborn, Lucian. She’ll be the end of you one day," she muttered, bracing him to help him stand.Though confused about everything she had just said, I tried to assist her in helping Lucian, but she stopped me with a glare."Don't bother," she snarled and finally helped Lucian up. She led him to the bed, where she began murmuring some incantations and performing magic.Within minutes, Lucian’s eyes fluttered closed and he drifted into a deep sleep. She covered him with a mattress-thick quilt, then sat beside him, her fingers combing through his hai

~ Aria's POV ~"What the heck is this, Isolde? Why would you put me into an illusion?!" I yelled, my voice cracking with fury as the waves below roared, sending gusts of salty wind that whipped my hair wildly around my face."You think you’ve won just because you managed to scare me a little?" she sneered, her lips curling in mocking amusement. “I’m a succubus, Aria. I can twist your mind into believing anything I want… just like I made you believe I was your mother.""So what are you going to do? Kill me?" I asked, with a confident voice, but deep down, my heart was slamming against my ribs, every beat echoing with fear.I was surrounded by water on all sides, standing on the edge of a jagged cliff. I didn’t know how to swim—and even if I could, the furious ocean beneath would swallow me whole before I had a chance.Isolde smirked and took a slow, deliberate step closer. "Killing you would give me everything I want. I’d have Lucian back… and you’d finally pay for what you did to him.
