Chapter Two – Escaped

Ella's POV

I dragged my sore legs and left the room with my clothes soaked with blood and my body was dripping with blood, my head was pounding, but I chose to stay strong.

I walked back to our room, the pain from my wounds still throbbing through every fibre of my being. Luna Scarlett's cruelty and Alpha River's chilling presence lingered in my mind, fueling my determination to escape their clutches. I knew that staying in this pack would only lead to more suffering.

As I entered the room Amelia was waiting for me in the dimly lit room. Her aged face was filled with a mixture of worry and concern as she took in my battered state. "Oh my! Ella, my dear, come here let me see that." She grabbed me and sat me by the bed, bringing all the necessary things she needed to treat me.

She stopped for a while looking at me for a while with a concern yet determined look on her face. "We're doing it today!" She whispered, making me look at her surprised, is she serious?.

"What today? I mean why the urgency?" I asked, feeling my heart pounding restlessly. It's risky but we have to do it.

'We'll finally be free.' Lea sighed, but I ignored her. We were waiting for the next month when the alpha and most of his pack were away for a meeting.

"Just look at your situation Ella, it's getting worse everyday." She pointed at me, making me look at myself thoroughly. My flesh is open and blood dripping, like I've come out from a bloodbath.

I open my mouth to speak but close it, deeply heaving. We can't do it now or later, and I know Amelia has a plan in action.

"C'mon, I need to tend to your wounds before we make our move," she said, her voice filled with urgency. I nodded weakly, sinking onto the edge of the bed. As Amelia approached, her weathered hands gently began cleaning the cuts and bruises on my body. Each touch brought a mixture of pain and relief, a reminder of the horrors I had endured.

Amelia's eyes met mine, a glimmer of determination shining within them. "Ella, I've been observing Alpha River's routines and studying the layout of this pack. I believe I have a plan that could get us out of here."

Hope flickered within me as I listened to her words. Finally, a chance to escape this nightmare. "Tell me," I whispered, my voice filled with a mix of anticipation and fear.

Amelia paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts. "Alpha River is known to take long evening walks alone through the outskirts of the pack territory. It is during one of these walks that we will make our move. Luna Scarlett will be occupied with her own self-indulgences, giving us a window of opportunity."

My heart raced at the thought of freedom. "But how will we navigate the woods without getting caught? The men " I asked, my voice tinged with worry.

Amelia smiled, a glimmer of mischief in her eyes. "I have a friend in the neighbouring pack who owes me a favour. He has agreed to meet us at the edge of the territory with a spare set of clothes and provisions. Once we escape, we'll have a head start before they realise we're gone."

Relief flooded over me, mingling with a renewed sense of determination. "Amelia, you're incredible," I whispered, putting a hand on her,"I'm blessed to have you here.

She chuckled softly, her hand resting gently on my shoulder. "No need for flattery, my dear. We're in this together. Now, you need to sleep and heal and be prepared for the right moment to execute our plan." She implied and I nodded.

And she continued to tend to my wounds, a flicker of hope burned within me. I knew the path to freedom would be treacherous, fraught with danger and uncertainty. But I was willing to face it all, to risk everything for the chance to break free from the clutches of Alpha River and Luna Scarlett.

With Amelia by my side, guiding me with her wisdom and experience, I knew that together, we had a fighting chance. We would seize the opportunity to escape, to carve out a new life away from the torment and oppression that had consumed us for far too long.

I lay there, my wounds being tended to, I couldn't help but imagine the taste of freedom, the sweet scent of liberation that awaited us beyond the confines of this pack.

.....

It was midnight and I ran in the darkness, my heart pounding in my chest, a mixture of fear and hope propelling me forward. Amelia's plan had given me a chance, but I couldn't shake off the nagging worry in the pit of my stomach. How was she going to create a diversion? What risks was she taking for my sake? She left me at the beginning of the tunnel, saying to meet her by the entrance gate before she caught up with me.

And when I came near the entrance gate, I hid by a wall – our meeting spot. I waited to be united with her. Catching my breath that is coming in ragged gasps. But instead of finding Amelia waiting for me, there was only an unsettling silence. Panic welled up inside me as I called out her name by my mindlink, but there was no response. It was then that I noticed the flickering glow in the distance and the sound of raised voices.

My heart sank as realisation dawned upon me. Amelia had sacrificed herself to distract the guards, to give me a chance to escape. This is all about me in the first place; she and Freye were never meant to escape. Hot tears streamed down my face as the weight of her selflessness settled upon my shoulders. She had used herself as bait, putting her own safety on the line for my freedom.

But it was not just tears that engulfed me; it was a fierce surge of gratitude and sorrow, a tumultuous storm of emotions. How could I leave her behind? she knew I would never agree to this if I knew. How could I accept my freedom knowing that she, Freya and the other kids had remained in the clutches of the BloodMoon pack?

I was about to run back and find her with teary eyes, I fell and sprained my ankle. I forced myself forward, dragging my left leg. As I heard her shaky voice and panting through the mind link.

"Go, ggo Ella. This is all I can do for you. Go before they find you too. You've had enough, you've taken enough for us. Is time you find your freedom to take your revenge."

"No.. No, I can't leave without you or the rest. We can find a way to escape together."

"It's.. it's too late. Leave now. Escape and make me proud. That's is enou..." With that I couldn't hear her anymore.

"No.. Noo. Nooo." I let out a silent scream pulling my hair. My heart throbbing and pounding against my rib. And I stood up and swallowed all the pain and bitterness. There's only one thing I have to do to honour her. I have to escape from her.

I rashed out, with each step I took, my injured ankle throbbed in pain, but it was nothing compared to the ache in my heart. I fought back sobs as I stumbled forward, driven by a mix of guilt and determination. I had to honour Amelia's sacrifice by surviving, by finding a way to make her sacrifice count.

As I reached the gates, I glanced back one last time, hoping to the goddess that she would come running to me so we could escape together. Or even if I would catch a glimpse of her. But all I saw was smoke and noise dancing in the chaos she had created. She vanished, leaving me to face the unknown alone.

Tears blurred my vision as I pushed open the heavy gates, the weight of Amelia's absence settling heavily upon me. My steps were unsteady as I limped away from the pack's territory, my mind filled with memories of our time together, of her nurturing care and unwavering support.

But as I hobbled forward, pain pulsating through my ankle, I made a silent promise to Amelia. I would carry her bravery with me, fueling my determination to escape the clutches of the BloodMoon pack. With every ounce of strength I could muster, and I would come back to rescue her which my heart prayed for a thousand times to find her alive. Knowing how cruel Alpha River can be. Even so I'll come back and avenge her. So that her sacrifice would not be in vain.

I was no longer just Ella, the maltreated Omega. I was Ella, the survivor, carrying the weight of Amelia's love and sacrifice within me. And though my heart ached with sorrow, I vowed to honour her memory by forging a path towards freedom, resilience burning bright in my eyes.

Every limping step I took, I whispered a heartfelt goodbye to Amelia, thanking her for her unwavering love and courage. And with the fire of her sacrifice guiding me, I pressed on, determined to find a life where pain and fear were distant memories, and where the strength of my spirit would guide me to a brighter tomorrow.
