Rosalind's POV

"Miss?"

Pearl rolled into the kitchen behind me, its blue eyes blinking.

"Beef Wellington," I said, counting on my fingers. "Pan-seared lemon cod. Black truffle soup. Garlic butter grilled prawns."

The robot's eyes flickered. A small error sound beeped from its chest.

"Pearl's database doesn't have these codes. Pearl really can't do it."

I sighed and pushed up my sleeves. "Fine. I'll do it myself."

I opened the Fortune Shop and searched for clean ingredients. Real beef. Real fish. Fresh herbs grown without a drop of radiation.

Then I saw the prices.

Total robbery.

This afternoon, I had poured most of my fortune points into a mental power upgrade. Now, after one shopping cart of meat and vegetables, my balance read zero.

Broke as hell. On my very first day.

The ingredients dropped onto the counter in a soft flash of gold light. I got to work.

An hour later, the whole kitchen smelled of butter, garlic, and roasting beef. I tore off a piece of hot prawn and popped it into my mouth.

Sweet. Juicy. No bitterness at all.

"Phew." I closed my eyes. "I'm alive again."

The front door banged open somewhere downstairs.

"Sis? Where's my little sister?"

Quick footsteps pounded up the hall. A young man burst into the kitchen, maybe nineteen, with messy brown hair and a wide, bright smile. He stopped short when he saw me.

"You're Rosalind, right?" He held out a small box tied with a silver ribbon. "I'm your fourth brother, Danny. This is a gift for you. Welcome home."

I took it, a little surprised. "Thank you, Danny."

[Fortune points +20.]

Whoa. I could earn points just by unlocking family bonds?

That was way easier than winning over Silas.

Danny's nose twitched. He leaned past me toward the stove.

"That smells amazing. Sis, what did you make?"

"Just threw together a few dishes out of boredom." I picked up a fork and held it out. "Wanna try some?"

He took one bite of the beef. Then he froze.

"Oh my god." His eyes went huge. "What is this flavor? No bitterness. No weird aftertaste. No fishy smell!"

He grabbed another piece. Then another.

"Sis, from today on, you're my goddess. I'm sticking with you forever."

[Fortune points +30.]

Another voice drifted in from the hallway.

"What is that amazing smell?"

A tall man in a long grey lab coat walked in, rubbing his tired eyes. His hair was salted with silver, and his glasses sat crooked on his nose.

"Just breathing it in," he said slowly, "all the exhaustion from today at the Helix Institute just melts away."

Danny pointed at me with his fork. "Dad, you didn't check the group chat, did you? This is our little sister, Rosalind."

The man went still. His eyes found my face, and they filled with tears.

"Rosalind." His voice cracked. "My little princess. You're finally home."

Something warm twisted in my chest. I hadn't heard anyone talk to me like that in a very long time.

"Dad," I said softly.

The pendant warmed.

[Danny Montgomery's affection has reached 100%. Congratulations, host. You've received a full reward: 10,000 fortune points and one free lucky draw.]

I almost dropped the fork.

Holy crap. I just hit the jackpot.

Dad turned to Danny, frowning. "Danny, what are you eating?"

"Sis's cooking. Try it."

Dad took a small bite of the cod. He chewed slowly. Then he pulled a slim silver scanner from his coat pocket and waved it over the plate.

The screen beeped green.

His hand started to shake.

"This food has absolutely zero contamination." He stared at the reading. "And it can even directly ease mental berserk."

"Ease what?" Danny asked with his mouth full.

"Oh my God." Dad pressed a hand to his chest. "If we can extract whatever's in this, the whole human race's berserk problem could be solved." He turned to me, eyes shining. "Sweetheart, can Daddy take this back to the Institute?"

"No way!" Danny threw his arms around the plate. "This is what Sis made for our dinner!"

I laughed and pulled out a chair for Dad.

"Dad, you eat first. I'll make a fresh batch tomorrow morning for you to take to the lab."

[Fortune points +40.]

The front door opened again. This time, quick heels clicked across the marble.

"Where is she? Where's my baby?"

A beautiful woman in a deep blue suit rushed in. She took one look at me and pulled me straight into her arms.

"My precious baby girl." She held me tight, her voice breaking. "Mommy missed you so much."

[Fortune points +40.]

When she finally let go, she pressed a shining black card into my hand.

"This is your allowance. No spending limit anywhere in the Star Union." She cupped my face. "Our Montgomery princess has to be rich."

I looked down at the card. Then up at her teary smile, at Dad already on his third bite, and at Danny still guarding his plate.

"Mom," I said, "I love you."

And I meant every word.

I love this so much.

Money, family, and a never-ending stream of fortune points.

This retirement life was absolutely perfect.

Rosalind's POVSilas stopped in the dining room doorway, still in his uniform, and stared at the table."What's this?" He pointed at the creamy dish in the middle. "I've never eaten this before.""This is black truffle risotto." I pulled out the chair beside me. "It keeps you full for hours, and you won't get hungry again so fast."He sat down slowly and picked up a spoon. One bite. Then he went quiet."You've never had anything like this before?" I asked."No." He took another bite, a bigger one this time. "It's really delicious."Danny leaned across the table, his cheeks stuffed. "Bro, you have to try the beef too. Rosalind's POV I rolled onto my stomach across the giant bed and tapped Silas's name on my comm. He answered on the second ring. His face appeared in the air, a grey wall and a stack of files behind him. "Rosalind? Is something wrong?" "Nothing's wrong." I rested my chin on my hands and gave him my softest voice. "Bro, you work so hard. What time do you get off? I can't wait for you to come home." His eyes went gentle. "I'm off at five, home by six." He paused. "If you're bored, check the closet. I got you some gifts." My comm chimed. [Received: 10,000,000 star coins.] "Go buy whatever you want with this," he said. I stared at the number. Ten million. Just like that. "Money means love," I said, grinning. "I knew you loved me most." The tips of his ears went red again. He cleared his throat. "Love you too."---------------- Silas's POV The door to my office slammed open. "Commander! General Whitaker is looking for you." I closed the call before the young officer could

Rosalind's POVPearl rolled ahead of me up a wide glass staircase, its blue eyes blinking."Miss, the entire third floor is your private space. You can go on in and rest."I looked down a long hall lined with tall windows and soft white doors. One whole floor. Just for me."You can go on ahead, then," I said. "I'll call you if I need anything.""Of course, miss. I've already added myself to your comm. Reach out anytime.""Thank you, Pearl."The robot spun around and rolled away.I pushed open the biggest door at the end of the hall. The bedroom was larger than the whole bunker I used to share with forty people. A round bed sat under a glass ceiling, and the three moons shone right down onto the pillows.I threw myself onto the bed and stared up at the stars. Now this was the retirement I had been dreaming of.I closed my eyes and let the old Rosalind's memories settle into place, one by one.In this world, women were rare. For every one woman, there were ten thousand men. Because of t

Rosalind's POV"I heard girls like strawberry, so I got you some."Silas reached into a small cooler between our seats and handed me a slim silver pouch. A pink strawberry was printed on the front."If you'd rather have another flavor, just tell me."I turned the pouch over. Small gold letters ran across the back. Premium Nutrient Pack. 100,000 star coins. One hundred thousand. For one pouch. One of the five great families, all right. These people really were loaded.I tore it open and took a sip.My whole face twisted. It tasted like spoiled milk. Bitter, sour, and rank, with a chemical burn at the end that clung to my tongue. Then the old Rosalind's memories filled in the rest. This era's tech was advanced, but radiation had poisoned every inch of soil. Crops grew small and grey. Even the rich ate food that was bitter and half toxic. This was miserable. I survived ten years of monsters, and my reward was a world where nothing tasted good? Why did I have to end up here of all places?

Rosalind's POVMrs. Harlow's hand shook as she signed. Then she threw the pen down like it had burned her."From now on, you and this family have nothing to do with each other," she said. "Live or die, that's on you.""Don't worry." I folded the paper and slipped it into my pocket. "Even if I die out there, your name won't come up. And if I ever make it big, don't come looking for a piece of it either."[Fortune points +30.]I almost laughed. This system really did pay for every bit of trash I took out.Sienna crossed her arms as I walked past her. She didn't even bother to lower her voice."So proud of herself. A reject with no family backing her. She'll end up matched with some other useless man."I didn't turn around. The old Rosalind would have cried at that. I had heard worse from dying men begging me for water. The tall front doors of Harlow Manor closed behind me with a heavy thud.Cold night air hit my face. Above me, three silver moons hung over the floating towers of Crown C
