Sheryl’s P.O.V. (Continued)

“What?” he asked, making my anger rise more.

“I said get off, you… you pervert. How dare you pinch me?” I yelled at him while craning my neck towards him, looking at him over my shoulder.

My gaze met with a pair of electric green cold eyes, but I was so angry that I couldn’t register the coldness.

“You haven’t changed at all,” he remarked aloud, rolling his eyes at me, and I growled aloud this time.

I may be low by rank, but it doesn’t mean that outsiders also bully me.

"I should have left you there. I am a big fool to put my life in danger for you... you.. you b*stard. Now get off my bike and get lost," I continued yelling at him, jerking my head here and there from time to time.

He chuckled, making me widen my eyes in disbelief.

He was still holding me by my waist, and now it was getting on my nerves.

He slowly got off the bike and released my waist.

"Scoundrel," I cursed him again, giving him a threatening look, and drove away.

People these days don't praise goodness.

I frowned in pain, feeling tears in my eyes again.

For saving him, I put my life in danger, and what did I get in return?

I was harassed by him.

I felt sorry for his mate. Poor girl...

Although he had masked his scent, I could say that he wasn't mated yet.

Yes, my earlier assumption about him being a minor was wrong. His wolf was strong, I could feel, and he was definitely of age.

I wish that the moon goddess would keep him unmated to save an innocent life.

I flinched harder when I heard the ringing of my phone. I was now relaxed, and both anger and fear had vanished from my heart.

I stopped the bike at the side of the road, two blocks away from where I left that boy.

"Sheryl, where are you?" the person on the other side asked me as soon as I picked up the call.

"Uncle Sam, where are you calling me?" I asked him in a confused tone.

"Are you okay? Did you leave that alley?" He asked further, and it was when I realized that he is the person with whom I talked earlier.

Sam was my neighbor and also one of those families who took care of me with my grandfather.

I was so scared earlier that I couldn't recognize his voice at that time.

"Yes, Uncle Sam, and I left that boy near Wendy's. He is still injured. He got a brutal hit at the back of his head." I informed him calmly and took a deep breath in the end.

"You did a good job, girl. But you should head to the hospital. Amelia took your grandpa to the hospital," he told me further, and I trembled hard in fear.

The next second, I hopped on the bike again and started pedaling while pressing the phone between my shoulder and my ear; holding the handlebars tightly in fear.

“What happened? He… he was okay in the morning? Why didn’t he call me when he felt unwell?” I barraged the question in fear, my voice shaking in fear.

“Calm down, Sheryl. He was okay an hour ago but suddenly fainted in the supermarket while shopping for the groceries.” Uncle Sam answered me in a serious voice.

I was now both angry and scared.

My grandpa was a good warrior, but he was severely injured while fighting with rogues in the same rogue attack in which my mother died.

That day, we lost so many lives and casualties were also too many for the pack hospital, resulting in a delay in the treatment of so many injured people, including my grandfather.

So, he couldn’t recover completely from his injuries and my mother’s death also took a toll on his recovery.

“He will be okay, Sheryl. Don’t panic. You know your grandfather. He is a strong man. Ju… just stay strong and everything will be okay. Call Amelia as soon as you reach the hospital, okay? I need to finish this report first.” He instructed me hurriedly but tried to comfort me before that.

“Okay.” I mustered to say in a choked voice and he hung up. I put my phone back in my jacket pocket while pedaling the bike.

“Please, Grandpa. Be safe.” I murmured in my heart while trying not to cry.

He was my only family and my only pillar.

After my father abandoned me, my grandpa took me in and tried his best to give me the comfort of family so that I wouldn’t feel abandoned.

He made me feel wanted and loved.

“Please don’t leave me.” I murmured once again in my heart.

With a furiously beating heart against my ribcage, I continued driving towards the hospital and reached there as soon as possible.

“Relax, Sheryl. He is okay.” The guard stationed at the main entrance of the hospital stopped my bike and asked me to calm down.

I stopped the bike immediately and looked at him with tearful eyes.

“How is he, Max? Where is he?” I asked him in a choked voice, trembling a little because of fear.

He smiled faintly while the second guard dealt with others.

“He is still in ER, and he has woken up now. I am sure that the doctor will release him in an hour.” He replied to me with that very faint smile.

“O Goddess!” I exclaimed aloud in relief and almost fell to the ground as my knees went jelly immediately.

Max held my arm tightly, keeping me on my feet.

Thank goddess, my grandpa was better now.

I couldn't tell how relieved I was now.

“Why are you smelling like the other wolf, Sheryl?” Max suddenly asked me and sniffed me immediately.

His eyes suddenly went wide before I could answer him.

“You…. You were with… with an alpha?” He asked in shock, and I frowned in confusion.

I was about to answer him when those cold electric green eyes suddenly popped out at the back of my mind.

“Alpha?” I mumbled in shock while blinking hard.

I could recognize both Alpha Adrian and Sylvester.

The only alpha who remains here is Gabriel.

“O Goddess!” I exclaimed in shock this time when I realized whom I saved earlier.

I am doomed.

I went pale when I realized that how I berated him, called him ungrateful an....and...

Oh my goddess! What had I done?

I called him a pervert.

I face-palmed myself while looking at Max fearfully.

He immediately became worried while holding both my arms.

"Wh... what happened, Sheryl?" he asked me worriedly.

How could I tell him that I just signed my warrant of death by myself and handed it to the executioner by myself?

"I am doomed, Max. I... I guess... I offended Alpha Gabriel b... before coming here." I replied to him in a choked voice, still looking at him fearfully.

"You did what?" Both Max and the other guard yelled at me in shock and I felt like crying.

Gabriel’s P.O.V. (Continued)Whenever I thought that I would be able to take over the alpha position from my father soon or that I was becoming capable enough to take some responsibilities from my father, something surfaced, proving how incompetent we were—that we couldn’t even provide our pack members a basic sense of security.I ran away from Sheryl.I agree, but I went on a secret mission. I am a part of a secret organization that works to eliminate serious threats to our world. At that time, there was a secret hunter’s group that was about to attack three big packs at the same time.I left everything on Sylvester before going for that mission.I learned about what he did after coming back and knew that he messed up things but didn’t know the extent.I moved towards Sylvester while seething in anger.“What do you want to say on this, Sylvester?” I asked him angrily, shutting out everyone around me.He flinched but didn’t look up.“You are supposed to protect the weak, Sylvester. Gabriel’s P.O.V.“We want justice for our son, Alpha. No wolf in this pack is allowed to beat a fellow pack member like this. She should be severely punished.” Jacob’s mother, a regular wolf but owner of two big clothing shops inside the pack, Nina, cried her heart out while demanding justice for her son.Sheryl really beat him badly. He was still unconscious and critical.I guess his arrogance not only came from his friendship with Shannon but also from his parents' money. That's why he still came after Sheryl when Shannon was in the dungeons.“I am not denying that she saved the whole pack in the previous attack, but it doesn’t give her the authority to treat other pack members like this.” Nina continued badmouthing Sheryl while crying.“And why do you think that Sheryl attacked Jacob, Nina?” Mom asked her in a stern voice, face cold, but eyes burning with anger.Nina stopped crying and looked at my mother in a daze.Mom didn’t say another word but picked up the remote control of th

Sheryl’s P.O.V. (Continued)“I never fought back because I didn’t want to hurt you guys, but you all assumed my act of leniency was cowardice. Who is the coward here, huh?” I continued roaring at him while twisting his hand to the side, making him scream in pain again.I threw his hand harshly and then punched him in his face, using all my strength. He couldn’t even produce a sound this time. He stopped breathing while his eyeballs almost popped out of their sockets, his face flushed red, veins popping out on his temples, and pain written all over his face.I didn’t stop there. My whole body was now burning with rage.“Why do you think I never fought when I am a trained fighter? Every pack member…. Every pack member knows that I have been training under Beta Caden for ages. Still you think I am pathetic enough to endure you just because I am scared of you. You b**tard.” I continued punching him while yelling at him.“Sheryl. Stop.” I heard someone yelling at me, but I continued throwi

Sheryl’s P.O.V.“Not bad, Sheryl. You have been out of practice for a long time, and yet you succeeded in scoring 8 and 9. I am sure that you will be in your form in no time.” Our archery teacher, Mr. Julius Nester, encouraged me, patting my shoulder gently after I shot the tenth arrow but it still didn’t hit the center.I smiled while nodding in response and put down my bow. My shoulders and hands were now aching badly. It had been more than two weeks since I practiced. And I was still recovering. So, I understood this fatigue and why I wasn’t able to perform just like before.“Take some rest and then you can go back.” He spoke to me further while giving me a towel.“Thanks, Mr. Nester.” I thanked him sincerely and took the towel.“I heard that you applied for online classes?” he asked me with a concerned tone.“Yeah. The doctor advised me not to put strain on my body, but I can’t slack off in my studies, right?” I replied to him in the same casual manner.“You are right. You have a

There is a possibility that she can reject us because of what I did because I hit my head somewhere and became insane for ten months?” Sylvester asked him, almost shrieking in the process.Dad grimaced but nodded in agreement. Both I and Zyphre were only a heartbeat away from killing Sylvester. He slumped on his chair like a deflated balloon, completely devastated, but I knew my brother very well. This is about our mate. If I am not willing to give up this easily, why would he?“But you truly know your mistake, and you want your mate not to reject you; you still have a chance.” Dad added it further while taking a relaxed position on his chair. We both immediately straightened up our upper bodies and leaned towards the desk with perked up ears.“Why are you two looking at me like this?” he asked us while looking at us warily when we both move

Why doesn't she stay anywhere near the pack? The way you treated her, it's still her faith in our pack that she is still here. Don’t forget that she can go to her father’s pack at any time.” Dad scolded him while glaring hard at him when I was about to interject.I shut my mouth and glared at Sylvester too.It was his fault that Sheryl decided to move away from us. She was stubborn and her determination is unshakable. She had Edwin and our father’s support. So, it was impossible to take their help to stop her.“But spending six years
