Chapter Seventeen

The alarm went on at six a.m. Kayla rather woke at eight.

Kayla thought the pain would ease up by morning, but it seemed the pain ratcheted up the moment she awoke. Pushing through the suffering, she trudged to the kitchen to have breakfast. She expected to see Cutie as she went downstairs, but the dog was nowhere in sight. Anthony's house was always so quiet, not to mention it was in an isolated area.

She made it to the kitchen only to get pissed at what she saw in the refrigerator. There was a plethora of tantalizing stuff in the fridge, nearly all of them taking her back to the days she always argued with Clinton for liking things she disliked. If not everything in the fridge matched Clinton's preference, this was exactly what Clinton's fridge looked like back in the day, especially as there wasn't chocolate in the fridge.
