Chapter 13

Ava

Something warm and familiar enveloped my body, making me relax completely. My muscles hurt a bit, but I felt a particular energy reborn in my body, a force that spread everywhere as my chest vibrated, emitting a similar sound to an animal's.

I squeezed my eyes and took a deep breath, and then very slowly opened them.

I had a slightly blurred vision, and my eyes took a while to get used to the surrounding environment, also thanks to the low brightness that was perpetuated from the windows. The sky was barely illuminated, and in the distance, you could see the first rays of the sun.

I sighed and closed my eyes again, snuggling against the warmth that seemed to warm my soul while my body was carried away by the softness of the mattress on which I was lying.

I suddenly looked up. My mattress wasn’t that soft. The window of my room did not give a direct view of the sun or much less of the forest, and certainly, there was no familiar smell in the air.
