*Elena's POV*

“Deal,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

“Deal,” Liam replied, his hand was warm and strong around mine as we shook on it. Our eyes locked for a second longer than necessary, and something electric passed between us. I quickly looked away.

“Come on,” Liam said, still holding my hand. “Let’s go see him now before he gets worse.”

He led me upstairs through the hospital corridors, his fingers gently intertwined with mine. The touch sent a small, unexpected spark through my chest. I quickly pushed the feeling aside. This was just a deal. Nothing more.

We reached the door of his father’s private room. Liam gave my hand one last soft squeeze before pushing it open.

The old man was lying in the hospital bed, propped up against pillows, wires and tubes connected to monitors that beeped steadily. When he saw us, a tired but genuine smile spread across his face.

“Son, you came back fast,” he said, his voice was weak but full of hope. “And you brought her. Good. Let me see the mother of my grandchild.”

Liam stepped forward, still holding my hand. “Dad, this is Elena. Elena, this is my father, Mr. Richard.”

Before Liam could say anything else, the smile on Richard’s face vanished completely. He stared at me with wide eyes, his expression shifting from joy to shock, then something darker.

I froze. Why did this man look so familiar? His sharp gray eyes, the strong jawline even in old age… it was like looking at an older version of someone I knew. The thought nagged at me, but I couldn’t place it.

“Dad?” Liam said, confusion clear in his voice. “What’s wrong?”

Richard shook his head slowly, his gaze never leaving me. “No. You two cannot marry each other.”

The words hit like a slap. Liam’s grip on my hand tightened.

“What?” Liam’s voice rose in surprise. “Dad, what are you talking about? There’s a problem with Elena? Is that what you’re saying?”

“There is no problem with the girl herself,” Richard said firmly, his voice gaining strength despite his frail state. “She is perfectly fine. But this marriage cannot go on. I won’t allow it.”

Liam let go of my hand and stepped closer to the bed, his face flushing with disbelief and anger. “You won’t allow it? Dad, I just told you she’s carrying my child! I love her. I’m not going to abandon the mother of my baby and the woman I truly love just because you suddenly say no. Tell me why! Give me one good reason!”

Richard’s eyes flicked between us, heavy with something I couldn’t read. “Liam, you don’t understand...”

“No, you don’t understand!” Liam cut in, his voice cracking with emotion. “I’ve done everything you asked. I run the companies. I work the bar to stay humble. I’ve given up so much for this family. And now, when I finally bring you the one thing you’ve been begging for — a grandchild and a woman I care about you tell me no? Without any explanation? That’s not fair, Dad. That’s cruel.”

I stood there, my heart was pounding, feeling completely out of place. My own voice came out shaky. “Mr. Harrington, I… I don’t understand either. If there’s something wrong with me, please just say it. I’m not here to cause trouble. This wasn’t planned, but the baby is real. And Liam… he’s been kind to me when no one else has.”

Richard sighed deeply, his chest rising and falling with effort. “Elena, it’s not you. You seem like a good girl. Strong. But this union… it can’t happen. There are things you both don’t know. Old wounds that will be opened if you both come together.”

Liam’s hands clenched into fists at his sides. “Then tell us! Stop speaking in riddles. I’m standing here ready to give you everything you wanted and you’re shutting it down? I won’t walk away from her, Dad. Not now. Not when she needs me and I need her. She’s carrying my child. I love her. If you want me to choose between you and them, I swear I’ll...”

“Don’t say that,” Richard interrupted, his voice breaking. “Don’t you dare put me in that position, son. I built this empire for you. I fought every day so you wouldn’t have to struggle. But some lines cannot be crossed. Some blood cannot mix.”

Tears stung my eyes again. The weight of everything crashed over me. “Please, Mr. Harrington. Whatever it is, we can talk about it. I’m scared too. I have nothing left. This baby is all I have. If Liam is willing to stand by me, why can’t you give us a chance?”

Liam turned to me, his eyes soft but determined. “Elena, don’t beg. You don’t have to. Dad, look at her. She’s hurting. We’re both hurting. I’m not asking for your permission out of weakness. I’m telling you this is happening. I love her. I want this baby. If you have a real reason then say it now. Because if you don’t, I’m walking out of here with her and we’ll figure it out ourselves. But I won’t abandon the mother of my child. Not for you. Not for anyone.”

Richard stared at us for a long moment, his face pale and conflicted. The monitors beeped faster. He opened his mouth as if to speak, then closed it again.

Liam’s voice dropped, raw with pain. “Dad… please. Don’t make me choose.”

The old man’s eyes filled with tears he tried to hide. “Liam… my boy… you have no idea what you’re asking.”

“Then tell me!” Liam shouted, emotion cracking his voice. “Tell us both why the woman I love and the child she’s carrying aren’t good enough for you!”

I reached out and touched Liam’s arm gently, my own heart was aching. “Liam… maybe we should...”

“No,” he said firmly, turning back to his father. “I’m not leaving this room until he gives me a real reason. I can’t abandon you, Elena. Not after everything. You’re the mother of my child. I love you. And if my own father can’t accept that, then maybe this empire isn’t worth it after all.”

Richard’s breathing grew labored. He looked at me again, long and hard, as if seeing a ghost.

“Liam,” he finally whispered, voice heavy with regret and something deeper. “You cannot marry her because...

  • My Twin and Fiancé Betrayed Me, So I married His Rival   Chapter 65

**Angela's POV**I woke up to an empty bed.For a moment, just one ... I forgot everything. The argument with Marcus, our breakup, last night. I just lay there in the Saturday morning quiet and felt the warmth still in the sheets and thought nothing in particular. Then it all came back.I pressed my face into the pillow and groaned.Because the worst part was not what happened last night. The worst part was that I had liked it. I had lain there in the dark with Marcus's arm around me and felt something settle in my chest that hadn't been settled in months and I had liked that feeling desperately and I hated that I liked it.I missed him.I had missed him for weeks...I mised the specific weight of him in the bed, the smell of his skin, the way he always woke up before me and made noise in the kitchen before he remembered other people were sleeping. I had broken up with him and missed him every single day and last night my body had simply decided without consulting the rest of me.I sat

  • My Twin and Fiancé Betrayed Me, So I married His Rival   Chapter 64

**Angela's POV**Marcus looked at me.I looked at Marcus.Eli was already gone. He was in a fast, deep sleep that only children can fall into, his small chest rising and falling, and one hand still loosely gripping the edge of the duvet."I can take the couch," Marcus said quietly."The couch is small," I said. Also quietly. Because the room required it."I've slept on smaller, you do not have to worry""I know you have."We were both whispering now without deciding to. The way the presence of a sleeping child pulls adults into a different register .... softer, slower, more careful."Marcus." I looked at Eli between us. "Just stay on your side."He nodded.I turned the lamp off.---The dark settled.Eli shifted in his sleep and burrowed instinctively toward warmth, toward Marcus, as it happened and Marcus adjusted without waking him, pulling the duvet up around his small shoulders with the practiced ease of a father who had done this a thousand times in a life where he wasn't the one

  • My Twin and Fiancé Betrayed Me, So I married His Rival   Chapter 63

**Angela's POV**I told myself this was fine.Marcus coming over was fine. It was necessary. Eli needed his father and I was not the kind of woman who used a child as a weapon in an adult argument. Whatever happened was between Marcus and me and right now what was between us was a lot but it had nothing to do with my son's right to have his father in his life.So yes. Marcus was in my living room. Playing aeroplanes with Eli, lifting him above his head while Eli screamed with laughter. And I was in the kitchen making tea I didn't want and pretending to be very interested in the wall."Angela." Marcus's voice floated in. "There's no sugar in this house.""It's on the top cupboard," I said. To the wall."I checked the top cupboard.""Check the second shelf."He paused, He was rustling. "Found it." Another pause. "Thank you."I said nothing.Eli came barreling into the kitchen with the energy of someone who had been airplaned and was not yet ready for the experience to be over. He grabb

**Liam's POV**---She came home quiet, she did not speak much and it bothered me. This was not the easy settled silence that had become normal between us. This was another kind. The kind that had weight to it. That sat in the room and made itself known.I looked up from my laptop the moment she walked in."Hey." I closed it, giving her all my attention. "What happened?""Nothing.""It does not look like nothing ."She sat down on the edge of the sofa and stared at the wall for a moment. Then she turned and looked at me with an expression that told me she had been carrying something the entire drive home and had finally run out of road."I went to see my mum," she said."Okay." I waited."And before that..." She stopped and started again. "Liam, do you know a nurse on your father's ward? Angela?"I thought about it. "The one with dark hair? That works the afternoon shift?""Yes." She looked at her hands. "I ran into her at the hospital café a few weeks ago. She said something to me t

  • My Twin and Fiancé Betrayed Me, So I married His Rival   Chapter 61

**Elena's POV**The door opened before I could knock. My mother stood in the doorway like she had been frozen for close to an hour, that's how rigid she was. One of her hand was still on the handle of the door, the other was holding a dish towel, her face doing something complicated that moved through surprise and relief and something else I couldn't immediately name, all in the space of about two seconds. We stared at each other without a word even though we had plenty things to say to each other. "Elena, welcome" she said."Hi, Mum."She looked at my bump. Then back at my face. Then at the bump again."You didn't call before coming," she said."I know.""You should have called.""I know, Mum."She stepped aside without another word and I walked in.---The living room was exactly the same way I left it.. Same curtains, same photographs on the wall, same particular smell of the house I had grown up in. I sat on the sofa and she sat across from me and we existed in the specific awkw

  • My Twin and Fiancé Betrayed Me, So I married His Rival   Chapter 60

**Elena's POV**---I was still deciding between my several options when I felt it.That specific awareness, the kind that happens when someone you know has entered a space you're in, before you've even seen them. Like a shift in the air.I glanced sideways.Liam was walking toward the treadmill section with a water bottle in his hand and the calm, unhurried stride of a man with nowhere urgent to be. He saw me. He saw Derek. He read the situation in approximately one second. And then he did the last thing I expected. He didn't pull up. Didn't fold his arms. Didn't do the husband thing. He walked straight up to the treadmill on my other side, stepped on, set it to my exact speed, and looked at Derek with a completely straight face."Sorry, am I interrupting?" he said pleasantly."Little bit," Derek said, equally pleasant."Great." Liam turned to me. "Hi. I couldn't help noticing you from across the gym. You have an incredible energy."I stared at him."I'm sorry what?...""I'm sorry, d

*Elena's POV*“So what are you trying to say, Drake?” I asked my lawyer, my voice cracking as I clutched the coffee mug tighter. My eyes burned from days without sleep. “Tell me straight. I can handle it.”Drake leaned forward across the table, his face tight with sympathy he couldn’t hide. “Elena,

*Elena's POV*“What the bloody hell?” I screamed, bolting upright in the tangled sheets.Liam jerked awake, his eyes wide and bleary. “Elena? what’s wrong? You’re shaking. *Elena's POV* “I’m going to make you feel exactly what I felt, Alex,” I whispered to the night air, my voice raw from crying. “You slept with my twin like she was me? Fine. Tonight, I’ll sleep with someone who’ll make you wish you’d never been born.” My phone wouldn’t stop ringing. His name flash

*Elena's POV*“Alex… yes, right there,” the moan floated down the hallway, low and breathless, exactly the way I sounded when he touched me. “God, I’ve wanted this for so long.”My stomach lurched. I froze, one hand still on the door handle, the other pressed to my mouth so I wouldn’t scream. That
