~Hannah~

“Why can't my husband give my daughter blood?” I charge at Doctor Hems.

“You should know better, Hannah. In a situation like this, it can only mean one thing: Liam is not the father of your daughter.”

“What…”

My legs feel jittery. I force it to keep standing. My head is banging.

“Doctor! We found a donor!”

I look up to see a nurse and in a flash doctor Hems is gone. One of the nurses comes to explain to me which I'm grateful to because I'm going crazy hearing the machines beeping with no one to tell me what exactly is going on.

“Olivia’s Mom right?”

I nod frantically. “Yes yes I'm Olivia's mom. What's going on…where's the doctor?”

“We just found a donor. However, his identity is secret as we can't reveal it. However, be rest assured that Olivia will get better now.”

“Donor…” my lips quivered and my chest grip in a painful relief. “Please, how do I meet this donor…is he someone I know…”

“I can't say. I'm sorry.”

“I have to thank him for saving my daughter's life… can't I still meet him?”

The nurse vehemently refuses as she walks off leaving me in my own pool of confusion. I sit down on the bench, several thoughts swirling in my head. Liam is not Olivia's father…Doctor Hem must be mistaken. I try to tell myself but I know it's a big lie. Deep within me I had felt it. The feeling had always been there but I refused to acknowledge it. What will I tell people…that my three year old daughter is the son of a man in my past…What am I going to do now…oh god.

“Hannah.”

I look up. My body tightens.

“Follow me.” Liam orders.

He enters a room and I follow him. The room looks like an office but there's no one inside.

As soon as I shut the door, his palms lands on my face. For a split second, all I see is stars as the pain stings me. I bit my wince back. I deserve it. I deserve it. Nina agitates. Stay calm Nina. We deserve it.

He grips my neck and fling me against the office desk. “I don't wanna know whatever you were thinking but listen, I have banned the doctor from speaking of this. No one will ever bring this up. You will not mention this to anyone. Olivia will remain my loving daughter, and you, my wife.”

I look up wearily with both surprise and confusion. What I was expecting was ‘who is the father? Why did you cheat on me?’

“I will never accept your rejection. You will never be able to leave me.”

My eyes meet his cold eyes. All I see in them is a man that wants nothing but to keep me as his prisoner in the name of wife. “Why? So you will keep on hurting me? Haven't you ruined me enough…”

He pushes me against the wall. My spine cracks. I am not able to hold back my groans this time because the pain is excruciating. He charges at me and pulls me up again. Put a dagger into my palms and aim it in his throat. “Slash me! Do it! Because it's over my dead body you can leave me.”

He let go of me and my body flops to the floor. I choke back tears and sob quietly in the corner.

After a while he comes beside me and caresses my face softly. I can't even flinch even though I want to. “Get up and clean up. You know I love you.”

He pushes my chin up and a great impulse to spit on his face arises in me.

“I will be waiting outside. I promise to treat you better. You make me angry but I love you. You know how much I love you. This is very minor. This will not break us apart. We are a family…me, you and Olivia, okay?”

“Okay?” He repeats when I don't move. And my head moves on its own in affirmation.

I breathe as soon as the door shuts after him. I drag myself to the washroom and wash up. When I come out, the nurse tells me Liam left for an urgent meeting to return later. “Where's my daughter? Can I see her now?”

“She's safe now and just asleep. You should be able to see her and talk to her soon.”

I gasp in relief. Once again I plead to see the donor but get the same response. I impatiently sit in the waiting area.

“Hannah.”

Even before I lift my head, I recognize the voice of my caller. I feel my throat clench and a hard lump forms. I try to control it but my hands are fidgeting. My heart is racing.

“I’m sorry it took me time to show up. Something came up and delayed me.”

“What came up?” My throat tightens more.

He stares at me and notices the mark on my face. His face becomes rigid. “What is this…Did he touch you again…”

My heart wrench. He always notices the slightest change in me, the faintest mark on me.

“Are you alright?” He reaches to touch me but I shift back.

“Where have you been?” I ask. Does he really have nothing to do with the donor?

“I just told you. I had parking issues and got delayed at the security. How is Olivia? Is she doing alright now?”

“Why are you asking?” I question coldly.

“Hannah…”

“Don't ask about my daughter. Don't create a misunderstanding by asking about her when she's not your daughter. Liam and I can take care of our daughter by ourselves. Please leave and don't come visiting here again. I don't want rumours.”

His nose flares as a frown settles on his face.

I turn and drag myself back to the bench. I feel completely devastated. I have done horrible things in my life but this one…I may not be able to forgive myself for it. I don't know who donated blood to save my baby’s life but I'm grateful. I was worried it was Nathan but now that I have confirmed it isn't him, my secret is safe.

Don't blame me. We all have our dark secrets and a past we cherished but wish to keep sealed and hidden. That is what Nathan is to me now.

Nathan may have put his sperm in me but Liam is the father of my daughter and I have to make sure it remains so.

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Festival

~Nathan~I have been trying to sight Hannah but she's so damn busy in the cooking area. Helping with cooking and arranging things with some other ladies. I wonder if Cathylene Durk put her up to it or she volunteered. Either way, I don't like how she's been so busy without catching a breath for herself. “You are missing her?” My beast taunts. “Shut up.” “Oh really? You sure you don't need me keeping you busy?” Sure I need some distractions but definitely not from my beast. He'll only make me miss Hannah the more. Full moon festival is finally here. The first since my return. Every member of the Pack is gathered in the center of the town–sort of an open field surrounded with tents. The night is lively. The moon is gradually filling the sky with its roundness. I admit, I may not like this pack but the full moon festival is something I enjoy and always look forward to here. Some men are selected to hunt in their wolves form. They are to enter the nearby woods and return an hour or

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Lose it

~Hannah~“Liam Durk! Get yourself out here!” Cathylene roars marching into the living room. As expected, she’s very furious. Her phones are ringing non-stop. Harinth is beside her, suggesting things and telling her to calm down. Which I doubt she will be doing any time soon. Jaxon Blackwood’s prospect of becoming the next Alpha has tremendously jumped, leading Liam by a big margin whilst Liam's has drastically reduced. And not just that. Liam faces the threat of being removed as a candidate. This will make Jaxon the ultimate winner. “Where's that jerk?” She yells and spins at the sound of Nathan's entrance. “Are you happy your best friend has the chance to win my son?” She slams at Nathan. “I sent him on an errand,” Harinth chimes in calmly. Cathylene hiss. I stare at Nathan, the scene at the yard replaying in my head. Does he know Olivia is his daughter? He can't know. He should never know. Liam looks downcasted.“I will take care of this. Don't fret.” Cathylene assures him befor

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Curse and conditions

~Hannah~“Lastly, before I sign this, one more thing. Apologize to her,” Mario says to Liam. Liam gives a mock laugh. “What?”Today is the final meeting for the paperwork of the deal before the actual construction work will begin and Liam was allowed to be present. Nathan is waiting in the hotel lobby. “Listen to me, Mr Mario. I'm grateful to work with your company but hey, listen, this is family business and you should know when to not cross the line,” Liam grits. “Then, I'm afraid we have no deal.” Mario shrugs. It's as if he's intentionally torturing Liam which a part of me is enjoying. But I also know how bad it can be. Liam is overly possessive, jealous and with a big pride. “Em, Mister Mario, aren't you going a bit too far?” Cathylene steps forward. Mario glances around feigning confusion. “Am I?” he laughs. “Chairlady Durk. We all have our conditions in business. You are a business woman and you know this.”“I do, but this is getting more personal and I'm afraid your fathe

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Guilt

~Hannah~“Me? Spearhead a project?” I ask in shock. “What were you both discussing?” Liam glares at me. “This is not the time for this, Liam,” Cathylene tells him off. “Mom, don't tell me you will allow her to negotiate with that jerk?” “Why don't you look at it this way…she shows her face and we get our contract.”Liam snarls. “Why would he want someone like her to spearhead a huge project? That fool just wants to show authority!”“Yes, because he knows we need him and you gave him the chance to behave that way when you refuse to put yourself in order.” Cathylene scowls. “And if he tries to do something funny? He was flirting with Hannah!”“So? We should lose out on this project to Blackwood?” Cathylene slams, enraged. Lose out to Backwood? There are things that are constant and everyone knows. One of them is how much Cathylene hates the Blackwood family. She hates them so much because she thinks they always copy the Durk in everything. The two families are into construction an

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Demoted

~Nathan~“Throw herself at men like a slụ́t?”I almost lost it at dinner.. The only thing that stopped me from smashing that lunatic’s head on the dinning table was Hannah's warning to not get involved. Fuvk. Liam Durk is a lunatic. Has always been. Everyday it irks me that he ended up with someone as beautiful and perfect like Hannah. “Boss, would you mind if I drop you off in front of the company or the parking basement?” My driver and secretary, Red, inquires. “Wherever is good with you.” I shrug. He ends up pulling into the parking lot in the basement. Hands me a sachet. I raise my eyebrows in question. “Your pills, boss. Lady Cathylene says I should make sure you take them.”Stupid pills. I collect the pills and he keeps looking at me through the rearview to make sure I swallow them which I pretend to do but spit out on my way to the elevators. “Welcome back boss.”“Good to have you back, sir.”“Morning boss.”Greetings from every angle echo as I make it to my office. It's

Does he have more influence than me? Answer me!”My body shakes as I wrap my hands around me in defiance. Liam is shocked. I have never defiled him. I have never denied him access to my body.He stops, darkness clouding his eyes. “A woman cheats on her husband and has been deceiving him with another man's daughter…what do you think you and Olivia will be reduced to, once another ear hears of this…”My body recoil. The thing I fear the most…My dignity tarnishing…Olivia facing backlash in the future…Suddenly my claws shoot out and my eyes glow golden. In one swift action, my claws dig into his chest. “Nina! Stay calm!” I beg Nina unable to control myself.Cathylene Durk makes everyone in the house take scent blockers and strength restrictor pills. She says it's too ‘unclassy’, to have your scent intruding people'
