~Nathan~

I rush into the hospital after parking the car. The nurse at the reception tells me to check in one of the rooms for Hannah as she is speaking with the doctor. But I end up entering the wrong room.

“Doc Hems, his blood does not match either.”

“What?”

“That means he's not the father? What do we do now? The little girl will die if she doesn't get a rare blood type.”

Blood…little girl… I try to make sense of the discussion.

“But Doctor Hems, if Liam is not Olivia's father, then who is?”

Liam is not Olivia's father? My heart palpitates. Did Hannah cheat on Liam? No. Hannah would never. I did the maths and as the realization begins to dawn, I feel intense emotions overwhelm me.

I barge out of there in a flash and return after picking up a face mask in the car. I approach the nurse I overheard talking earlier.

“Hello. How may I help you?”

“I want to donate blood. My blood type is rare.”

“Oh thanks goddess. How did you know we are in need of the rare blood type?”

“Is that so? I have no idea.”

“But–your face. Why the mask–”

“This is a voluntary donation and I'd like for my identity not to be revealed.”

She gives me a suspicious squint but I don’t flinch. Hannah and Liam must not see me. “Come with me for now, we need to run some tests immediately.”

As the pin pierce me, instead of feeling the pain, I feel so sad. My beast wines low. Why didn't Hannah tell me? I know she had her reasons but still…still…My chest tightens with pain. As soon as they confirm Olivia is safe, I want to leave the hospital but I didn't want to make Hannah suspect something. I know she'll be in the waiting area.

Seeing her, I feel my chest become heavier and tighter. I think about three years ago and at that moment I regret leaving her in the hands of my lunatic brother.

But she chooses the words that crush me when she bans me from seeing or even asking about Olivia.

I leave the hospital feeling a wave of anger. And the only place to calm me is the training center.

My phone beeps as I'm training. Once I read the message, I abandon everything and run out.

I arrive at my destination, panting really hard. The place isn't far from the house, reason I didn't drive or used a cab and maybe because I wanted to feel the anger rush that will fuel the fury I'm hoping to show to this woman that I'm about to meet. The woman that abandoned me–my birth mother.

“Guy! He’s here!”

My fist clenches as two guys appear in my front instead. The infamous Harrow Wood bullies, Bega and Joan.

“I heard you were back in town and I didn't want to believe it. Now that I'm seeing you….wow…you really are back. Seems you found a new hobby. You must be training really hard to have those em…abs and muscles,” Joan remarks with a smirk.

“But it doesn't change the fact that you are nothing but a slutty son and a fucking bastard!” Bega sneers.

My jaw tenses hard. Over twenty years of my life, I have been called these names. Over twenty fuvking years! Each time I want to crack their skulls, I want to give freedom to my inner beast and devour them. But each time I hold back.

Again I tell myself to hold back. I refuse to stoop low to their level. I turn around and begin to walk away.

“Where the fuck you going, slutty son?” Bega grip my shirt and shove me back.

“I don't want to fight you. Get out of my way.” I grit.

He scoffs. “And if l don't?”

“Then I will kill you.”

“Wow! You've finally grown some balls, bastard.” He jeers.

“Less talking. More action. I'm busy, let's end it quickly.” I grit.

He laughs. “Look, the slutty son is asking for a fight!”

“Don't fight Nathan. Remember our promise? We are never going to stoop to their level.” I hear my wolf say. I call him my inner beast.

“Actually I have changed my mind. I'm busy and don't have time for lowlife like you.”

“You wanna hear something else?” He starts as I'm turning. “I sent you the message, bastard. I made you come here to find your slutty mom.” He grins deviously.

Something goes loose in the control unit in my brain. I charge at him, dump him to the ground and hook his collar. “You dare mess with me? Huh!”

“Yeah I pranked you…” he laughs tauntingly. “You are nothing but a bastard and a slutty son.”

I clench my fist, my knuckles turning white. My beast is speaking to me but my rage is blocking my senses. Lunatic before me is laughing harder and louder, enjoying my emotional turmoil. My jaw locks and I feel my teeth grinding together. Immediately I lose it and begin to punch him furiously. By the time I come back to my senses, my knuckles are blooded, Bega’s face destroyed.

“You murderer! What have you done!”

People are gathered raining curses on me.

“Son of a slut.”

“Bastard.”

“Murderer!”

Like I always do, I shut my ears. But the words keep echoing in my head. My knuckles are cold, cracked and bruised as I trotted back home. I won a fight but I feel disgusted and empty.

“Congratulations!”

I jam Liam as soon as I reach home. “Murderer now, huh? Slutty son…bastard…now murderer? You sure have it all going well.” He mocks.

From nowhere a palm greases my right cheek.

“Have you gone crazy?” Cathylene Durk bark. She shoves her iPad to my face. A video of me punching Bega is showing. “Tell me, did you come back here to soil Durk's reputation with your ill luck and stupidity!”

What was I expecting? A dry painful laugh slips my throat. I must have been a fool expecting anyone to ask for my own side of the story.

“Do you realize how much your careless actions can ruin Liam's chances of becoming the next Alpha? I warned you the day you returned from wherever it is, to stay in the darkness! Your only duty and only reason you are still in this house is to help my son become the Alpha! You will behave yourself as long as you are in this house. As the lady of this house, I demand so! have I made myself clear?”

The rest of Cathylene Durk’s word is a gap as Hannah comes into view. Not just Hannah but with Olivia.

Shame grips me. I wonder how pathetic I must look in her eyes. I promise to help her when I can't even help myself.

Suddenly Olivia burst into tears. By impulse I wanted to reach for her but Liam beat me to it. “What's wrong, Olivia?”

“Uncle Nathan is bleeding…” goes Olivia, her wailing increasing by another notch.

I am shocked.

She comes over to me. “Does it hurt too much, Uncle Nathan? Sorry. Do you want me to fight them for you? My teacher says I can get my wolf soon. She will fight those ugly bullies.”

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Festival

~Nathan~I have been trying to sight Hannah but she's so damn busy in the cooking area. Helping with cooking and arranging things with some other ladies. I wonder if Cathylene Durk put her up to it or she volunteered. Either way, I don't like how she's been so busy without catching a breath for herself. “You are missing her?” My beast taunts. “Shut up.” “Oh really? You sure you don't need me keeping you busy?” Sure I need some distractions but definitely not from my beast. He'll only make me miss Hannah the more. Full moon festival is finally here. The first since my return. Every member of the Pack is gathered in the center of the town–sort of an open field surrounded with tents. The night is lively. The moon is gradually filling the sky with its roundness. I admit, I may not like this pack but the full moon festival is something I enjoy and always look forward to here. Some men are selected to hunt in their wolves form. They are to enter the nearby woods and return an hour or

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Lose it

~Hannah~“Liam Durk! Get yourself out here!” Cathylene roars marching into the living room. As expected, she’s very furious. Her phones are ringing non-stop. Harinth is beside her, suggesting things and telling her to calm down. Which I doubt she will be doing any time soon. Jaxon Blackwood’s prospect of becoming the next Alpha has tremendously jumped, leading Liam by a big margin whilst Liam's has drastically reduced. And not just that. Liam faces the threat of being removed as a candidate. This will make Jaxon the ultimate winner. “Where's that jerk?” She yells and spins at the sound of Nathan's entrance. “Are you happy your best friend has the chance to win my son?” She slams at Nathan. “I sent him on an errand,” Harinth chimes in calmly. Cathylene hiss. I stare at Nathan, the scene at the yard replaying in my head. Does he know Olivia is his daughter? He can't know. He should never know. Liam looks downcasted.“I will take care of this. Don't fret.” Cathylene assures him befor

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Curse and conditions

~Hannah~“Lastly, before I sign this, one more thing. Apologize to her,” Mario says to Liam. Liam gives a mock laugh. “What?”Today is the final meeting for the paperwork of the deal before the actual construction work will begin and Liam was allowed to be present. Nathan is waiting in the hotel lobby. “Listen to me, Mr Mario. I'm grateful to work with your company but hey, listen, this is family business and you should know when to not cross the line,” Liam grits. “Then, I'm afraid we have no deal.” Mario shrugs. It's as if he's intentionally torturing Liam which a part of me is enjoying. But I also know how bad it can be. Liam is overly possessive, jealous and with a big pride. “Em, Mister Mario, aren't you going a bit too far?” Cathylene steps forward. Mario glances around feigning confusion. “Am I?” he laughs. “Chairlady Durk. We all have our conditions in business. You are a business woman and you know this.”“I do, but this is getting more personal and I'm afraid your fathe

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Guilt

~Hannah~“Me? Spearhead a project?” I ask in shock. “What were you both discussing?” Liam glares at me. “This is not the time for this, Liam,” Cathylene tells him off. “Mom, don't tell me you will allow her to negotiate with that jerk?” “Why don't you look at it this way…she shows her face and we get our contract.”Liam snarls. “Why would he want someone like her to spearhead a huge project? That fool just wants to show authority!”“Yes, because he knows we need him and you gave him the chance to behave that way when you refuse to put yourself in order.” Cathylene scowls. “And if he tries to do something funny? He was flirting with Hannah!”“So? We should lose out on this project to Blackwood?” Cathylene slams, enraged. Lose out to Backwood? There are things that are constant and everyone knows. One of them is how much Cathylene hates the Blackwood family. She hates them so much because she thinks they always copy the Durk in everything. The two families are into construction an

  • Twisted Ties: The Brother's Claim    Demoted

~Nathan~“Throw herself at men like a slụ́t?”I almost lost it at dinner.. The only thing that stopped me from smashing that lunatic’s head on the dinning table was Hannah's warning to not get involved. Fuvk. Liam Durk is a lunatic. Has always been. Everyday it irks me that he ended up with someone as beautiful and perfect like Hannah. “Boss, would you mind if I drop you off in front of the company or the parking basement?” My driver and secretary, Red, inquires. “Wherever is good with you.” I shrug. He ends up pulling into the parking lot in the basement. Hands me a sachet. I raise my eyebrows in question. “Your pills, boss. Lady Cathylene says I should make sure you take them.”Stupid pills. I collect the pills and he keeps looking at me through the rearview to make sure I swallow them which I pretend to do but spit out on my way to the elevators. “Welcome back boss.”“Good to have you back, sir.”“Morning boss.”Greetings from every angle echo as I make it to my office. It's

~Hannah~He grips my dress and the fragile linen material rips apart. I wince as he grasp my wrist. “You are my wife and you belong to me. Does that jerk fuvk better than me? Does he have more influence than me? Answer me!”My body shakes as I wrap my hands around me in defiance. Liam is shocked. I have never defiled him. I have never denied him access to my body.He stops, darkness clouding his eyes. “A woman cheats on her husband and has been deceiving him with another man's daughter…what do you think you and Olivia will be reduced to, once another ear hears of this…”My body recoil. The thing I fear the most…My dignity tarnishing…Olivia facing backlash in the future…Suddenly my claws shoot out and my eyes glow golden. In one swift action, my claws dig into his chest. “Nina! Stay calm!” I beg Nina unable to control myself.Cathylene Durk makes everyone in the house take scent blockers and strength restrictor pills. She says it's too ‘unclassy’, to have your scent intruding people'
