Chapter 7: oh who is he?

He shot a quick text message to Williams.

To: Liam ♡ 10:57am

I may or may not have found our Luca.

He waited a couple minutes but nothing came back immediately meaning Williams was still sleeping, lazy butt.

As the teacher walked into the room, Jedidiah sighed and slipped his phone back in his bag before getting off the floor and starting warm-ups.

The class was an hour and half long and the first fifteen minutes were spent doing stretches and a warm-up routine which Jedidiah picked up on quickly.

At the end of the warm-up, the teacher introduced him to the rest of the class.

“Everyone we have a new student,” The teacher who had introduced himself as Mr. Samuel said. “Jedidiah Roswell, step forward please.”

Jedidiah did his best not to groan as he walked to the front of the class.

“Why don’t you introduce yourself.”

He looked at the class who were giving him curious looks and he smiled a little nervous.

It’s not that he didn’t like being the center of attention cause he did, it was just a little nerve wrecking when put on the spot, one thing he’s been working on a lot.

“Uh, hi,” He said. “My name is Jedidiah Roswell, I’m nineteen years old, will be twenty a month and two weeks from now, I guess. I’m originally from New York as I was born here before my family moved to France about seven years ago. Right now I’m on vacation for a month but I love dance and couldn’t resist the urge to stay away so… that’s what brings me here.”

He didn’t dare mention that he was one of the top students of his dance academy back in France or that he was the son of Gavin Roswell, the word would most likely spread anyway should anyone recognize him.

“And what do you specialize in?” asked Mr. Samuel.

“I do a bit of everything but I really enjoy modern and hip-hop,” Jedidiah beamed at this.

Mr Samuel nodded with a smile and motioned to the floor. “Care to give us a demonstration?”

Jedidiah bit the inside of his mouth as he thought it over. After a minute or two he gave a nod and retrieved his iPod from his bag then handed it to the person manning the stereo after choosing a song.

The other students moved to the side of the room while he moved center and took position. As the music started he let out a breath and started to move.

The music tempo was up beat with smooth transitions and he just let his body flow with the music. It had been a while since he did anything modern as his group focused mostly on hip-hop but he wasn’t the least bit rusty.

He made sure to throw in a few body rolls for good measure as he moved about the floor. By the time the music stopped he was panting lightly, sweat dripping down his face.

A roar and cheers made him turn to the window looking out into the hall and a wide grin spend over his face.

He gave a bow and looked over the crowd standing there, eyes locking with a boy in the center.

Right at that moment it felt like someone dumped a bucket of hot water over his head as a warming sensation flowed through him.

His breath hitched in his throat and he felt his heart skip a beat as he stared into deep brown doe shaped eyes.

The boys mouth was slack-jawed with the slightest hint at a smile.

His lower lip was fuller then his top lip, light in pink color and his nose reminded Jedidiah of a bunny rabbit, cute.

There was a Band-Aid stuck to his cheek.

The boy must have noticed him staring for his eyes got bigger and he ducked down behind the wall and the warm feeling was gone.

'Was that Luca?' he thought.

Jedidiah made to move towards the door but was swarmed by his classmates stopping him from going anywhere.

The teacher shooed the crowd away from the classroom so that they could to continue their lesson.

Jedidiah immediately made a mental note to find the boy later.

“Dude that was awesome!” said a boy as he wrapped his arm around Jedidiah’s shoulder suddenly, distracting him.

Jedidiah smiled at him. “Thanks,” he replied.

“Name’s Matthew,” said the boy and he held out his hand.

Jedidiah shook it and smiled politely. “Nice to meet you.”

“Alright everyone let’s continue,” Mr. Samuel said as he clapped his hands to get their attention.

The rest of the class focused on learning choreography and thankfully he didn’t get called on to do anymore solos.

After class he chugged a bottle of water as he dug his phone back out and saw he had five text messages from Williams and he chuckled.

Just as he opened them to read, Matthew walked over to him.

“Hey Jedidiah, we’re headed up to the lounge on the fifth floor to wait for lunch, you coming?” he asked.

Jedidiah held up his phone. “I’ll be up in a minute I have to talk to someone real quick.”

“Alright, see you upstairs.” Matthew turned and left with some other boys from their class while Jedidiah turned back to his phone.

From: Liam ♡ 11:10am

Seriously?

From: Liam♡ 11:18am

Jedi? Is it him?

From: Liam ♡ 11:32am

JEDI!! ANSWER ME!!

From: Liam ♡ 11:47am

Jedidiah Roswell... you answer me right now or I’m disowning you as my brother.

From: Liam ♡ 12:05pm

Don’t you love me anymore :’(

Jedidiah couldn’t help but laugh as he read his brother’s texts and he shook his head. He exited the room and clicked the call button as it’d just be easier to call then text what he knows. As soon as the phone was picked up, William answered but screamed in his ear.

“JEDIDIAH! About time you answered me,” He yelled. “That’s it, you are not my brother, I don’t like you anymore!”

Jedidiah just laughed. “Oh my god Liam you are so dramatic. I was in the middle of class that’s why I couldn’t answer you. The teacher had me do a solo in front of the whole class.”

“Oh… oops…”

“Yeah oops.” Jedidiah shook his head as he chuckled and leaned against a window to one of the other practice rooms.

“Anyway, so… Luca, is it our Luca? Did you talk to him?” Williams sounded hopeful.

“I don’t know,” Jedidiah said. “I just saw a glimpse of what I thought was him but a teacher confirmed that there is a Luca Knights here. I’m—-.”

“Yah! Luca, what is wrong with you today? Pick up the pace!”

The sound of Luca’s name made him look up through the window and his jaw dropped.

Finally...

There he was, the boy from earlier standing in the middle of the dance floor surrounded by his classmates as the teacher ripped him a new one. He had his eyes on the floor looking upset as he bowed to the teacher with a small apology as the class laughed and reformed around him.

“Jedidiah?” came Williams’s voice through the phone. “You still there?”

“I see him, Liam,” was his only reply.

Williams squeaked and blubbered on the other end of the line. “Well what are you waiting for? Go talk to him dummy!”

Jedidiah snapped out of his stupor and turned back to the phone. “I can’t, he’s in the middle of class, I can’t just walk in there and demand to see him. He might think I’m crazy.”

Williams whined in his ear. “Can’t you Gina way?.”

I’ll try and catch him at lunch.”

Willians whined some more.

“Sorry i can’t do more than that.”

His brother sighed on the other line. “Fine but the moment you talk to him and he’s the one, you bring him straight home to meet me or I’m disowning your ass. Got it?”

Jedidiah made a face. “You don’t even have the right to disown me, you dufus!”

“Got it?”. Williams was not going to let that go.

“I got it,” He said. “My last lesson ends at three so I should be home about three thirty. Guess you were wrong about him possibly being here.”

“Yeah, yeah.” He could all but hear Williams’s smile through the phone. “Bring our soulmate home, Jedidiah! I love you!”

“If it’s him I will,” Jedidiah sighed. “Love you too.”

The boy hung up the phone and looked through the window at Luca again watching him dance with his class, his black hair stuck to his forehead with sweat.

Jedidiah couldn’t help but notice that the boy kept wincing from time to time and Jedidiah’s eyes narrowed, something was obviously wrong.

“Yo Jedidiah, you coming?”

Jedi turned to look at Matthew who was standing at the bottom of the stairs to go up. “Coming,” He replied.

He took one last look at Luca before slinging his bag over his shoulder and following Matthew up the stairs as much as he wanted to stay.

He had to be careful incase anyone recognized who he was, the news shouldn’t reach his parents because they didn’t know he came all the way from France searching for his soulmate.

“Hey do you know what time that dance class gets out?” He asked as he pointed to the window he just left.

Matthew shrugged. “That’s the class below us,” He said. “I think they get out at 1-1:15. Never really paid attention. Why?”

“No reason.” Jedidiah didn’t say another word as he trailed behind.

Ten to one Jedidiah made his way downstairs to the cafeteria with Matthew and three other boys by the names of Bart, Jay, and Zed.

The whole time he tried to keep an eye out for Luca but also pay attention to the conversation at the same time.

Zed and Bart were joking around being complete dorks making him laugh.

It wasn’t until about one fifteen till he spotted Luca again standing in line to get lunch, warm feeling was back.

Soon as their eyes met he smiled and was about to get out of his seat when the boy walked quickly out the door.

'Like hell you are,'

Jedidiah thought as he got out of his seat.
