Chapter Thirty
NANCY'S POV
I was surprised to see him in my room when my eyes finally came open, freeing me from that horrible dream.
It'd only been a dream, the dreadful scene I'd been trapped in, but somehow, his voice and his promise to protect me had gotten through to me and had been the beacon that had lead me out of that gripping darkness of a nightmare.
I was too scared to fight the holding his strong arms around me, holding me to him like some child in the sure, protective arms of its father.
I needed his strength and the reassuring bass of his deep, velvety voice promising me that it's okay, that I'm safe here with him.
I let him hold me to the sculpted hardness that is his body, clinging to him like my life depends on it.
At this point, I think it probably does.
My abdomen hurt, I knew it was the spot that Laura's fist had impacted during the last practice.
