Nina’s POV

I stepped into my room and closed the door behind me. My fingers pulled at the apron strings until the knot came loose. The fabric slipped from my waist. I let it fall onto the chair near the window. It landed in a wrinkled pile. I stared at the empty space around me for several seconds, hands hanging at my sides.

Frank appeared in the doorway. His footsteps were quiet on the floor. “Don’t think too much about it. Master Liam isn’t always like this. I’ll speak to him.”

I kept my bac

Anya’s POVI raised my head. His expression was impossible to read but his hand rose again and now he grabbed my breast and his thumb touched my nipple. Once, twice. Sound escaped from me before I could prevent it. It was something between gasp and whimper. His lips curved. Almost imperceptibly. "You like it."I remained silent. Couldn't say anything. The thumbs of his hand made slow circles sending shivers down my spine and between my legs. My hips moved involuntarily and he noticed. Obviously."Take off the rest."I hooked my fingers under the waistband of my panties and pushed them down. I stepped out of them and kicked them aside with the heel that was still strapped to my foot. Now I was naked in front of a stranger in the private room in the club where I've never been before and in some part of my mind I knew that I should be ashamed but it was not shame that made my pulse beat fiercely in my throat. He returned to his place on the leather seat. He spread his knees wide. "Sit o

Anya’s POVI did not know how much money to offer. My mouth hung open. The man kept his green eyes fixed on me as if he had all the time in the world."Five thousand," I finally blurted. As soon as those words escaped my lips, I knew they sounded insane. Had I offered too little? Too much?He did not laugh. Not even blink. Just reached for the glass sitting on the table and took a sip of the amber liquid inside. The ice cubes tinkled. The music of the club beat on the walls, but here, in this booth, it seemed like we were sealed off from the rest of the world."Five thousand," he repeated. Testing the words. His voice was deep and rough, like gravel covered with silk. "That is how much you think you are worth?"Heat rose to my cheeks. I grasped the edge of the chair, my fingers sinking into the velvet. "I do not know what the rate is.""Obviously." He put the glass down. The watch on his wrist gleamed in the dim light. "Stand up."I did. My legs were not my own anymore."Turn around."

  • Unintended Bride    Fifty Two

Anya’s POVI ran until my lungs were burning and my legs were ready to fall off. The night air was cutting my throat. The street lights were all blurry around me. The horns were blaring somewhere behind me. I didn’t stop until I saw the steps of the building. My key was stuck, twisted, turned. I pushed the door open, closed it, leaned my forehead against the thin wood.Ragged breathing after ragged breathing ripped from my mouth. My chest rose and fell. The sweat was cold on my neck. The white shirt was sticking to my skin. The black pants were too tight, too normal, too like the girl who had just lost her last reliable source of money.I threw the purse. It landed on the mattress and slid. The phone started ringing almost immediately.I grabbed it, still trembling. There was a bold unknown number on the screen of my phone. I hesitated for a second. And then I answered.“Anya Beckett,” said the manager’s voice. “You walk out in the middle of service after destroying a tray of expensiv

  • Unintended Bride    Fifty One

Anya’s POVI stood in the middle of the one-room place and looked around. The walls were stained. The mattress on the floor had a yellow mark near the pillow. The sink dripped every few seconds. Outside the single window was a brick wall so close I could almost touch it. This was what was left. Everything I used to have was gone. The cars. The clothes. The house. Liam’s gates stayed closed no matter how many times I went there. My phone rang. I rolled my eyes and ended the call. It rang again. I ended it again. The third time the hospital name showed up. I answered with a sharp tone. “What?” Dad’s voice came through weak and full of blame. “You left me here. You haven’t come to see me in weeks. Do I have to remind you that I am your father? I deserve the ultimate respect and care. This is your fault. If you had kept Liam and not tried to ruin your sister, none of this would have happened.” I fumed. He was pissing me off. “Dad. I'm trying.”He kept talking like he was spotless

Nina’s POVHer phone lit up, and she started screaming. My spoon fell, and stew spilled all over the table. "What’s wrong?"Frida waved her phone at me. "It's my boss. He needs me to come to the office right away. Every day, I feel like he's trying to kill me. I want a job, but not the stress. Is that too much to ask?" She blinked, and I was speechless. She continued, "He says there's something wrong with the new design sets. An impromptu meeting. I have to go."I started pleading because I was absolutely sure she hadn't eaten anything. "Frida, you should eat first. At least take a few bites."She was putting on her boots and packing her things. "Sorry, boo. I don't have much time. I'll have something later."The door slammed. The sound of it locking echoed through the house. I stood in the empty kitchen, staring at my unfinished plate. "I guess I'm eating alone again."I put the food into a container, washed the dishes, and went to bed early. The apartment felt so big without Frida's

Nina’s POV Frida stared at me for a second. Her expression telling me I was silly for even saying that. But I couldn't help it. It was the truth. She shook her head and just as I walked to get something she hugged me from behind, her arms resting tightly on my waist. “Babe. You're my forever girl. You're never bringing me down. Don't say that about yourself again, ever. Do you hear me?”“Mmhmm.” I mumbled. “What did you say?” She squeezed tighter. “I can't hear you.”I mumbled again and I giggled as I felt her fingers rush up my skin, tickling in a fierce mode. “Stop it. Stop,” I begged but it was no use. “A proper answer now,” she laughed. “Okay. Wait. I'm going to pee if you keep doing that. Alright.” I chuckled. She let go for a moment to let me breathe and my lips moved. “Y…yes.”"There goes the power of the tickle. Since, that's settled. Care to explain to me when you got so damn brave?" she whispered.I leaned back into her. "I have to be. You have yelled at me enough. My e
