Max came in tiredly and loosened the tie around his neck. He dumped his bag and coat on the couch.
"Max, I'm glad you're back." Amber greeted happily.
Max’s cold eyes glared menacingly at Amber.
“Who are you? What are you doing in my house?” he growled.
Amber ignored the slight pain in her heart. How could he forget about her?
“I’m Amber Miller, your wife and we got married last year.” She explained immediately.
Max rolled his eyes. “Oh, it’s you.” he said without emotion.
“You should go upstairs and take a rest. I will handle your entire luggage.” Amber offered.
Max did not say anything and moved past her, going to the kitchen. He noticed that the whole place is completely clean as if someone hired hundreds of cleaners. Even his collection of whiskeys is arranged well.
There is also a plate of chocolate chip cookies on the counter. Max wasn’t a fan of sweet foods, but decided to take a piece of cookie.
“This is good.” he muttered to himself. Did Madam Linda make these?
“How do you like the cookies? I made them.” Amber said.
Max frowned. “I don’t like them.”
Amber’s smile disappeared. She thought that her husband will like it. His words hurt her pride and love for baking.
“I-I’ll try to make it better.”
“No need to do that. I don’t want to get poisoned by your food.” he flatly dismissed.
This is harder than she’d thought. She smiled and was unaffected by Max’s words. She won’t give up just because he ruined her spirit. She’ll make him suffer under her hands and feed him the food she cooks whether he likes it or not.
She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him to the living room.
“You must be tired. I’ll prepare you a warm bath.” Amber said cheerfully.
“What am I? A kid? I don’t need you babysitting me.” Max frowned.
“Hubby, this is not babysitting. It’s called spoiling my husband.”
His eyes darkened. “Don’t call me that!”
Amber ignored his outburst and went off to prepare him a warm bath.
Max sighed and rubbed his temples. He was forced to marry Amber, a girl he barely knew, yet she already has given him a head ache. He must find a way to convince Amber for a divorce.
His phone rang and answered it.
“Hey Max, I heard you’re back? Do you want to hang out? I got tons of chicks here at the club.” says Antonio, his friend.
“Not now, I’m really tired. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“The bath is ready, Max.” Amber announced.
Antonio heard a feminine voice. “Who is that? You have a woman there at your home? Why didn’t you tell me you were busy with a certain lady?”
Max rolled his eyes and ended the phone call. He moved past Amber and entered his room.
While waiting for Max to finish his bath. She prepared his clothes and placed them on the bed. It's natural for a married couple to sleep together right? But her marriage with Max is arranged. What if he didn't want her?
It will be hard to love a man like him, but she is willing to try once more. This time she will try her best to satisfy him. Making sure that her past relationship won't repeat again with Max.
Max came out with just a towel hanging dangerously low on his waist. He yawned tiredly and noticed the clothes Amber prepared.
"I sleep naked." he said.
Amber blushed. That was a surprising information. She tried her best to get information about Max from Linda. His likes and dislikes, and the kind of clothes he'd usually wear.
"I-I won't mind. Just wear some pants, okay?"
Max expected his wife to react differently like what most women do. However, she seems to be pretty accomodating with his needs. That's what he noticed the most.
He shrugged and lied down on the bed. Before he could do that Amber stopped him with a stern look on her face.
"Don't sleep with a wet hair!" She pushed Max back inside the bathroom and turned on the hair dryer.
Max was about to protest but the feel of Amber's fingers massaging his scalp feels so good. It is making him even more drowsy. He is known as a cold and ruthless man, yet he has become like this with Amber. What was wrong with him?
"What is that!?" Max pointed at the liquid on Amber's hands. She was about to use it on him.
"A moisturizer. It is perfectly good for your skin. Even men needs skin care too!"
Amber slapped the liquid on Max's cheeks without his permission. Again, the smooth skin massage suppressed the agner in Max's heart. Usually he gets angry when someone else touched him but he couldn't do it with Amber.
Finally, after putting skin care on his face he can now get some sleep.
Amber lied down beside him even though his back is facing her.
"I'll be devoted to you even if you won't like me. I will love you even if you don't love me back. I will work hard to earn your love even if just once. All I need is your love and I'll be the happiest woman on earth," she said those important words from the bottom of her heart.
"Sleep well, hubby." she leaned in and kissed his forehead.
After the heartfelt talk she had with Max. She was surprised to find her belongings disappeared and Max ushered her back into the master bedroom. There her clothes were laid neatly in the walk-in closet. Amber couldn't imagine sleeping next to Max every night, but at least it was a small step to strengthen their relationship right? Her phone rang and it was Chloe. "Good morning my sweet Amber! My parents are extending the invitation to you to attend my brother's birthday party! And you can't say no!" Chloe's explosive voice made Amber pull the phone away from her poor ears. As much as she adored her best friend, there wouldn't be anyone else attending to Max. He's still trying to recover his legs with therapy. There is still no news from the doctor yet regarding his recovery. Of course, Max wasn't happy with the results but still willing to try. "I'm sorry, Chloe. But I really can't. My husband is still recovering and I need to be there with him." she replied. "Aw, what a bumme
It has been three hours since Max invited Corina into his office. Amber couldn't help but feel jealous and betrayed. But she didn't want to think of Max in that way. She needed to trust him that he won't do anything else with Corina other than talking or catching up. After painful hours of waiting, Corina finally emerged out of his office doors. The wicked woman's appearance looked messy. She gasped embarrassingly upon seeing other people waiting in the living room. Max was an hour late from his therapy. The doctor and the therapist had to cancel a few of their appointments just to adjust their time with his therapy. "Max-" Corina turned around, but paused because of his cold expression. "Get out." he gritted. Corina flinched and scurried out of the house. "My apologies for being late. I had to deal with something important. Let's go." Max said to the doctor and therapist. Both of them stood up and followed Max except for Amber. She sat there, her body positioned like a st
Max got discharged from the hospital after two weeks but he'll be continuing his therapy at home. A doctor and the therapist will be visiting him every week until his right leg recovers. "I can't sit on this damn chair all day! I need to go to work!" Max complained. Nenita slapped his arm. "You need to recover and not think all about work! We are yet to find the culprit who caused your accident. Your father will handle everything at the company. Follow the doctor and therapist okay?" Nenita turned to Amber with a pointed look. "I expect you to take care of your husband. He's a stubborn man so bear with him okay?" Saying no wasn't an option so she relented to Nenita's demands. However, this situation made her anxious since her relationship with Max is still a bit rocky. After Nenita and the doctor left. Amber quickly walked away from Max to prepare his lunch. She'd rather hide somewhere other than sitting beside him. Linda wasn't aware yet of the couple avoiding each other. So sh
Amber slammed her palms on the receptionist's desk. "What room is Max Easton admitted in?"The woman scowled at her. "I'm sorry, his family is only allowed to enter. Hospital policy dear. I won't allow you to climb a billionaire's bed." "I'm not! I am his wife!" I shouted and it gained the attention of other people. The receptionist pressed a button and soon the security guards came to take Amber away. "Let me go! I'm not going anywhere until I see my husband!" Amber struggled out of the men's hold. "Let go of her!" Rowen Easton rushed in and demanded the guards to remove their hands off her.Amber was relieved to see a familiar face. "H-How is he?""He's out of danger and currently resting to recover from the accident. It will take a few months for him to get back on his feet." Rowen replied."What do you mean?" I frowned. A few months to get back on his feet?We entered the VIP ward and his room was located the end of the hallway. Amber gasped when her eyes landed on the huge cas
Amber woke up feeling sore below her legs. Her cheeks blushed as she reminisced what happened last night. She'd never expect that their relationship will finally take a huge step. Her eyes stared warmly at Max's sleeping form and traced every muscle on his body with her point finger. She got up from the bed and went to make him breakfast. While placing the dishes on the table. Max entered, ignoring her. "Good morning, Max." she greeted. Her body stiffened when he gave her a deathly cold look. Did something happen? "Forget whatever happened between us last night. That should've never happened. I'm late for work. I don't have time for breakfast." he said coldly and left her alone. His sharp words was like a stab in her heart. Last night was the best experience throughout their marriage, but he crushed it as if it meant nothing. Can she truly break the coldness in his heart? The house feels empty for some reason and it affected Amber a lot. This atmosphere was the same as being alo
Today is Rowen Easton's birthday and he invited Ashley and Max. Her gift was simple. Since cooking or anything about food was her specialty she decided to make a herbal tea mix for her father-in-law. She can't wait to meet Rowen. He's been good to her since her wedding day. He gave her a good father vibes when he comforted her during the wedding and wanting her to give his son a chance. Of course, she took it and she can feel her relationship with Max going steady. "I'm glad you came, Max." Rowen greeted his son. He turned to Amber and gave her a warm fatherly smile. This warmed her heart and wished that her own father would do the same, but that was only reserved for Stephanie."Happy birthday, father." Amber smiled and kissed Rowen on the cheek. "My...you look absolutely beautiful, my dear Amber!" "Oh? Isn't this my grandson's wife?" Nenita, Max's grandmother, joined them. The woman's eyes scanned over Amber's form and gave her a welcoming smile. "You are indeed even more beauti
