Chapter eight.

"It's going to be okay. They will never know." Mark kept assuring Carella that the agent or anyone for that matter will never find out about her secret.

Carella had once again asked him if the agent would find out and every time she did, mark would tell her that they couldn't know. But the more she thought about it, the tighter her chest gets.

But it seems like Carella was not the only one who was loseing sleep. James had been laying awake almost every night, unable to get that woman out of his head.

Carella Jones...he thought to himself 'why do you bother me so much?'

He wanted to prove her guilty. But every time he thinks about her being apart of Kanzel's crew, he feels sick. And the need to prove her innocent grows every minute.

James has never had this kind of reaction towards a criminal, If she is a criminal. And that some how upsets him.

He has never met someone harder to read than Carella and the need to break down all her walls and finally see what she has been hiding behind those sunglasses grows by the minute.

So James decided to got to her house once again to get any reaction from her. And this time, he decided to go alone.

Comes morning, James made his way to Carellas' place.

Carella was dressing her son for school when she heard the door bell ring.

Mark opened the door and looked at the agent indifferently. What does he want from her now.

They stared at eachother for a while until Mark moved aside to let James in. When James walked in, he found Carella sitting in the living room with her son while he tied his shoes.

"Mr.s Jones." He called out to her.

"It's Mr.s Mink." Mark corrected James from behind him.

James wished to talk to Carella on her own for reasons he can't explain.

"Mark, can you take Brian to school?" Carella asked in a warm and calm voice. Mark stayed silent for a while, wondering if it would be fine to leave her with this man. But he can't go against her words.

Brian gave his mom a kiss and walked out with Mark after giving James a long look.

After those two left, silence took over.

"Are you going to tell me why you're here?  Or are you just going to stand there?"

James slowly went around and sat infront of her.

Carella wore the same sundress but with a different color. Today, she wore a purple sundress with purple hills and her black sunglasses.

James looked at her up and down where she sat. If it wasn't for her cold aura, she was beautiful. In the picture he saw from when she was a child, he saw that she had big hazel eyes and he wished he could see them now.

"Agent Walker?" His silence annoyed her.

   "Right..."

"Are you here to finally tell me why it was that you had to get a warent to search my house and break ever peace i have worked hard for?"

Carella asked before James could get a word in.

He looked around the house and saw how every thing was back to place. The once trashed living room looks magnificent.

He cleared his throat. He has never been the one to conflict personal emotions with work. But some how, simething about this case and this woman makes him feel emotional.

He looked at her face before he spoke.

He wanted to tell her the truth. He wanted to tell her about the drugs in the flower pots so she can tell him that she had nothing to do with it.

He knows that he was not being reasonable to show up at her house this early and it showed his how desperate he is to prove her innocent.

"We got an information that there was illegal items in your house. So we had to do our job."

"Illegal items you say. Then how come ypu only targeted my flowers? It almost seemed personal, Agent Walker."

Her voice cold as ice made James shiver. Why did she have this kind of effect on him?

James sighed when he realized that he made a mistake to come here without actually planing about what he would say or what he would ask her.

"We were only doing our jobs..."

"Of coures. Agent, you don't have to explain anymore.... I just asked for a reason. Now becasue you have racked my garden and flowers, i have no other choice but to pull back my business and cancel all my orders until i grow them back. So i hipe you have found what you came looking for."

There was anger in her voice when she spoke. And James understood where the anger was coming from.

He ruined her business and he felt bad for doing so.

He bent his head to the floor in defeat. He shook his head at himself.

There was nothing more for him to do here, so he thanked her for her time and left for the office.

When he got there, Doneld was waiting for him at his desk.

"Where have you been?" Donled asked seeing hiw exhusted he looked when it was just morning.

"I went to Carella Jones' place."

"You went there by yourself? Alone? With no plan and with out telling me?"

"Say what you want to say Doneld."

Doneld took a deep breath "you seem to be obsessing over her. I mean, you are not the kind of a person that moves with out a plan. But some how, the first thing you do is go to her house at the butt crack of dawn?"

"It is my job." James answered more to himself.

"Mmm..." was all Doneld said while he studied his partners face. James looked at hoe Doneld was staring at him.

"If it was up to me, i would like it if i never see her face." And this was the biggest lie James has ever told anyone including himself.

Doneld nodded his head "well ok. So i guess i'm just going to have to go to Carella's house with someone else later."

Immideatly, James' head raised to look at Doneld's smirking face.

"Well...like i said, if it was up to me, i would like it if i don't see her again. But since it's my job, why are we going to her place."

Doneld chuckled before throwing a file towards James.

Some of our guys busted a flower pot filled with drugs. The flower was freshly deliverd last this morning. And when i looked through the lists of the bistributers, Carella's name poped up. Maybe you're right. Maybe she's in on it. We need to bring her in..."

  "No" James interupted Doneld.

"No?" Doneld raised his right eyebrow at him.

"We distroied her garden remember. She mentioned something about pulling her business back and cancel all her orders bacuse of it... unless she had another garden, i don't think Carella is the one behind the flower drugs."
