Chapter seven.

James was beyond annoyed. He sat at his desk next to his partner and looked at the closed file of carella Mink- Carella Jones- on his desk. How could everything be clean. Maybe someone tiped her off. Maybe she had everything cleaned before they went to her house.

James couldn't let go of the fact that she bothered him too much. He had always been the one to listen to his guts. And his guts has never been wrong. But this time, it's as if, that gut feeling doesn't quite know what to process.

Doneld on the other hand seemed to think that Carella was not guilty but that doesn't mean she was not connected some how.

As he was roaming the files he could find on the so called best hostage negotiator, he came across a paper. It was her birth certificate. Finally. He thought to himself.

It was impossible to find anything on Carella Jones. All there was publicaly was few articles that were written seven years ago. Most of the magezines at that time only spoke of Carella and Kanzel. But after a while, they stopped. The media went silent on that matter.

Doneld asked an old buddy of his, Armend Stiew to collect every information about Carella Jones before and after that explosion. It took his friend a while, but he never disappoints.

Doneld didn't know how Armend did it, but he collected most of the articles writen at that time, every mission she had done and her birth certificate as well.

The articles were mostly about how Carella disapeared after the explosion and all the failed attempts made to find her.

The missions she had done were always a success story, that is until Kanzel. It says in the file that after the police got Carella out of the ruins of the house, they took her to the hospital. But she refused to stay hospitalized and some one picked her up. That some one was Mark- the man in the black suit- everything about him was also in the file. The story about how they met and how she took him in as well.

After Carella recovered, she handed in her redignation letters and disapeared from the eyes of the public. Few month later, she married her boyfriend, a man she had been dating for three years in a secret ceremony and gave birth to their son. After their marriage, Carella took his last name and changed hers from Jones to Mink. Her husband died in a car accident just months after Carella gave birth. After that, she invested her money in her garden and raised her own buisness.

At the end of the file was the life she had before the explosion.

As soon as Doneld read the first words that caught his eyes, he shote out of his seat.

"An orphan!" He exclaimed looking at james.

James, who was still riding his train of thought, looked at Doneld with confussion. "Who?" He asked his partner.

Doneld setteled down on his seat.

"Carella Jones. She is an Orphan. It says here that her mother ran away from her husband and took Carella with her. It says they have been on the ran for a while until her mother left her at the steps of an orphanage intown. Her mother pretty much disapeared after that. She never came back to look for her." Doneld paused as he looked through the file, then he spoke again. He wrinkeled his face at the paper.

"Uff...she had a pretty bad life growing up at that orphanage too. Bullied...over worked...kidnaped...sexcual assult...she left when she turned eighteen..." James cuts him off "Aren't most of Kanzels' dealers orphans?"

Doneld looked up from the file to his partner to answer the question "yes, but just because she is an orphan doesn't mean she is one of his dealers."

Doneld looked back to his file and continued reading. The next he read out shocked both the agents.

"Listen to this. Carella was not born blind. It was after she got kidnaped that she lost her sight. No specific reason as to what happened...but she sure wasn't blind until she was fourteen!"

Carella had forgotten about her mother until the day she became one herself. It was when she had her son, that she thought of her mother. She doesn't remember much about her. Just her voice and her hazel eyes were all that remained in her memories. But she had absolutely no memory of her father. All she knows is what she was told. And she was told that her father was so abusive, her mother ran away with her so Carella wouldn't suffer his crulness as well. But the life her mother left her to was no different from the one she protected her from.

The kids in that orphanage were mean to her and the elders didn't care but to keep on working her until she was exhuasted to her bones. She had been kidnaped by human traficers and was saved from the verge of sexcual assult. She even lost her abilities to see that fatefull night. Sometimes she wondered if her mom should have just left her with her father. In her eyes, it was her mother that was cruel, not her father.

After years of lonely days, Kalven Mink was the man that saved her. Her upside down life was finally better after she met the love of her life. But he also was taken from her. Her heart has been bleeding for years and that cut would have been the last to kill her but she had her son. Brian was her world now. And the fear of lossing him too scares her more than anything. Life has always been too cruel to her that she was afraid her son will be taken from her too.

"Do you think they know?" Carella asked Mark, who was sitting across from her, reading a book.

He looked up to her knowing what she was asking him. She has kept that secret for seven years well.

"No. It is impossible for anyone to know."

His words did comfort her. She had worked hard to hide that secret.

Seven years ago, she had learned something she shouldn't have the day of the explosion. It is a secret that could cost her her life. If Kanzel or any of his goons find out that she knows, they would hunt her down for sure. So for the last seven years, she had been living a lie.

That secret has been killing her inside day by day. At night, that secret steals her sleep. Unless she holds her son in her arms, she keeps on remembering it.
