Chapter one.

Carella Jones is walking towards the house leading herself with her white cane in her right hand. She walked carefully as to not fall and make a fool of herself while she was working. She is nervous as always but her face shows no sign of fear and her eyes were covered by her sunglass. As always she knows she was walking in to a danger zone but lives of others depended on her. She was the best at her field of hostage negotiator because she was blind. Her inability to see the faces of the criminals made her suitable to get hostages out safely. As she was walking towards the house she was informed to go to, she heard footsteps coming near her. She stopped as she figuered she had gotten close enough. She knows what comes after this. They will search her to make sure she was not carrying any weapon. She wore a light dress that stopes at her knees and are sleeveless to avoid being touched. When they see that she had no place to hide any weapon, they took her white cane and grabed her with both her arms to lead her in. They dragged her for about three minutes until they stopped.

"Well, well, look who we have here."

She heard his voice. Kanzel. He is one of the most dangerous drug lords in the city with over one billion capital in drug export. When the DEA finally got ahold of his men, he held hostage the children of every DEA Agent working on the case. Now, Carella Jones was sent to negotiat terms of his mens release and the safety of the children.

Kanzel knew that Carella was blind so what better way to negotiate than with the person that can't see your face. She stood there in front of him steady with no sign of fear but then again he can't see her eyes so he walked closer to her and removed her galsses. Her eyes might have been open but her gaze was else where. She knew he stood in front of her but she couldn't get her eyes to move to his direction. She tried but she missed his eyes. He was now sure she could not see or if she did, he was ready to put a bullet between her eyes. He pulled her right arm out and placed her sun glasses in her hand.

"Now" said Kanzel " Let's negotia...."

BOOM.

Before he could finish the sentence , a boomb went off. Or was it boombs... she wasn't sure. Their plan went south. This was not supposed to happen. The explosion sent everyone flying. Carella was thrown against the wall and on to the floor. Before they could recover, another one went off in the other room. Not many died but it had a huge empact. Next thing she knew, some one was grabing her by the collar and shaking her. Due to the explosion, she couldn't hear anything. But slowly her hearing came back to her.

"We should go..." one of the men yelled.

"What about her?" The other one asked in an equal screaming voice. She was struggling to get back to her feet when she heard Kanzel's voice. She turned to where his voice came.

  "Leave her.." he screamed.

After a while, the police arrived and pulled her out of the house. She knew the only reason he let her live was because she didn't see his face. She was no threat to him. It was her inability to see that spared her.

But that day, she failed her mission for the first time. And that loss forced her to retire.

She always knew that now, she might have been spared but it was only a matter of time until kanzel came knocking at her door.
