I'm so sorry.

Knox was a strong wolf and fast of foot, but as Lisa tore out of the building, running into the forest at breakneck speed, Knox was doubting his ability to keep up with her in human form, but he couldn't shift.

Lisa and her family had no idea that they had moved into a community mainly filled with werewolves. Since they were human, none of the pack were allowed to reveal their beast forms, although after what Knox just witnessed, he had serious doubts about at least one of the Montgomery's being merely human.

Motherfucker that girl was just plain scary, and yet here he was, clearly touched in the head, chasing after the female responsible for taking down four she-wolves single-handedly, and what Lisa did to Dahlia? Knox couldn't even put it into words.

It was no secret that Dahlia Whitley was a grade-A bitch, but that didn't change the fact that she was tipped to be the next luna, Damon's future mate, at least that's what the pack had thought until Lisa blew into town.

No one had counted on the Alpha in training's FATED mate turning up in the middle of the year, but damn, what a wild ride she had taken them on so far. This was only her first day at Moon Valley High, for fuck's sake!

Racing through the underbrush, Knox could hear the sounds of distressed sobs coming from just ahead. With a final burst of speed, he crashed out of the trees and came upon a small clearing, the sparkling creek flowing through the mossy forest floor made the perfect backdrop to the sounds of small prey scuttling around immersed in their daily routines.

"Don't come any closer."

Lisa's voice was low, but the power radiating from it was undeniable, and Knox fought to keep himself from baring his neck and submitting to her.

What the hell was she?

And then she looked at him, and Knox was lost, spiraling headlong into the flames of her eyes, raw elemental power surrounded him, pulling him in, invading his brain as all the shades of ice and flames entwined, forming sensual ties in her beautiful eyes...no more contacts Knox noticed absently, they must've burned clear off when she flared up back at school; the sensations of heat and ice-covered his body like an invisible blanket, and Knox could feel himself grow sleepier by the second, what's happening to me?

Lisa's eyes became his everything, safely cocooned in his warm magic blanket, images flashed through Knox's brain, a young witch with a newborn, running down the cobbled streets late at night, glancing frantically over her shoulder as she held onto the baby; an enchanted bracelet placed on the baby girls wrist, spells and life essences, the sounds of dying, screams of torture, cardboard box, a young couple-the Montgomery's- bringing the baby inside, A large black wolf watching from the shadows, his cub safer with humans, hunters capturing the young mother, fire and ice flowing from her fingertips, "AZRIALA!" the wolf severely injured, wrapping himself around the young witch, trying to protect her, "Artimus my love, is she safe?" the wolf growled, yes, the sounds of an angry mob, "I love you Artimus." "I love you, Azriala, my queen."

As Knox slowly lost consciousness, his vision allowed him to witness one last sentence uttered in death, the big black wolf looking straight at him, "Protect the Queen, she's the last one left."

And then everything went black.

LISAS POV

It had happened again, the rage consumed every fiber of her being as the girl attacked her, and Lisa blacked out, lost control of her body as she seemed to move on autopilot.

Except this time, a voice had pulled her from the shadows, his voice, Mr. Plastic by the school entrance, and as Lisa regained control of herself, she turned, catching a glimpse of the battered blondie she was holding, realizing she had done this to the poor girl.

"Who are you really, Lisa Montgomery?" He commanded, slowly closing the distance, panicking. She dropped the body, muttered something, and took off, no idea where she was heading.

And now here they were, the outcast and Mr. Populars sidekick, staring at each other from a small distance.

He had stopped instantly at her warning and seemed to be having some sort of inner conflict as he stared deeply into her eyes. Slowly the boy's legs gave out from under him, and Lisa watched his eyes close as he curled himself into a fetal position.

Was he seriously asleep?

After a few minutes, Lisa cautiously approaches his sleeping form, crouching down she took note of his sandy brown hair, styled into that "messy bed head" that was all the rave now, she leaned so close noticing for the first time a small dusting of freckles scattered across his nose and a faint scar, barely noticeable above his left eye.

He seemed to be in a deep slumber, and she had no clue what to do, any attempt to wake him up elicited a soft growl from him, but that was it.

Lisa was conflicted, she had no idea why he had followed her, and it was just plain weird to fall asleep without saying anything first, but she knew she couldn't leave him here. There might be wolves in these woods for all she knew.

But where was she supposed to take him? It's not like she could waltz up to the school steps and deposit him there, especially not after the scene she made, but neither could she leave him here, at the mercy of the elements and the wildlife.

Sighing deeply, mind made up, Lisa grabbed his hands and feet, hoisting his dead weight up and across her shoulders.

"Humph." She muttered, trying to distribute his weight evenly, so he was easier to carry, damn he was considerably heavier than he looked!

Once Lisa reached the part where the forest backed onto the school, Lisa lowered the still sleeping male onto the ground, grimacing as the foul stench of wet dog filled her nostrils.

"Damn boy, you need better deodorant or something." She muttered as she searched his pockets.

"YES!" She located his phone, luckily no pin, and Lisa quickly found Mr. Plastics face in the contacts, "Alpha? What an odd thing to name your child."

Lisa mused as she found the camera and took a few pictures of him, then she opened up the text, inserted the photos, and typed a brief message.

"Your boy fell asleep; I did the decent thing and hauled him out of the forest. Guess he's tired? Come get him by the soccer field."

After sending the message to the boy toy, Lisa returned the phone to his pocket, and she skulked over to the school parking lot, thanking her good fortune as she made it to her car unnoticed and finally breathing a sigh of relief as she made her way home.
