Chapter 20 | Carnage

Ember widened her eyes, slowly losing her grip on her gun but she lifted it again and recovered from what she saw. Ember took a slow step forward and kept a straight gaze at Raverine who is standing still and his hands still raised in the air.

Ember examined Raverine from his messy hair down to his blood-soaked shoes and back to his red eyes. “What are you?” Ember asked, continuing to take cautious steps forward.

Raverine huffed and lowered his hands. “Ember… Put the gun down and I will tell you, Ember—"

“Hands up!” Ember roared and Raverine didn’t listen to her.

Raverine resumed speaking in a cold manner, “Just listen to me or we’ll have to do this in a different way.”

Ember smirked and scoffed. “Yeah?” Ember yelled in a sarcastic tone, “What way is that different way?

“The one you won’t like to take.”

Ember stopped and looked to her side. Ember saw Pox’s shoe and fired a bullet, an inch close to hitting Raverine’s shoulder but Ember purposedly missed her fire. “Where is Pox?”
