Laila

It was late Sunday morning and I was texting on Wh*tsA*p to my sister. My phone started to ring and the "James The Idiot" name popped on the screen. I smiled at the name. Now that I think about it, he was a bit of an idiot. A fool that followed me and tried to swoon me.

- Yes?

I asked as I picked it up. I wasn’t a “hello” person.

- Hey! How are you today?

James' cheerful voice greeted me at the other end of the line.

- Well… I’m better. I slept, so I... refreshed.

I said slowly. It wasn’t a total lie. I did rest. Some. All the other time I spent brainwashing myself on why I couldn’t and shouldn’t even be friends with James. The more time I spent with him, the more I got attached to him. He was slowly making his way into my heart. It was easy to like him and his personality. It was easy to enjoy his company. So, I guess partly unconsciously, I had started to live in dreams and fantasies about ifs, coulds and woulds that were not possible in this harsh reality. I would never live
