Chapter 3

Auteur: Snail
After confirming with the guard captain the time we would depart, I returned to my room. However, the moment I pushed the door open and entered, I was shocked at the sight that greeted me.

The contents of my suitcase had originally been neatly organized, but now, my clothes, books, and documents had been taken out and scattered all over the place.

My heart sank as I rushed toward the open suitcase and dug through it frantically. Seconds later, I went deathly pale at a realization—the wolf-fang necklace was gone! Someone had come into my room while I was away and taken the necklace!

I immediately knew who the culprit was and sped out of the room.

Within moments, I burst through the door to Stella's room, only to see her standing before the full-length mirror. There, around her neck, was none other than the necklace I had been searching for!

My eyes reddened as I charged forward to demand the necklace back.

Stella wasn't the least bit surprised at my arrival, even going so far as to caress the pendant as she said smugly, "It's mine now, and I'm not giving it back. What are you going to do about it?"

Sheer rage had my entire body trembling violently. Finally losing my patience, I reached out to snatch the necklace back.

At that moment, Sebastian entered the room.

The smugness on Stella's face swiftly transformed into a pitiful look as she hid herself behind Sebastian. When she spoke, she sounded like she was on the verge of tears.

"Sebby, I have no idea why Rina hates me so much. She's even trying to snatch my necklace…"

Sebastian's face instantly darkened, and he said in a disappointed tone, "Irina, when you didn't kick up a fuss, I thought that you had finally grown to be more considerate and understanding. Stella is only staying for a few days and won't bother you, so why do you have to pick on her?"

Taking a deep breath, I forced the surging emotions in me down before explaining to him, "That's my necklace. It was a gift Matt personally made and gave to me on his fifth birthday."

That had Sebastian's face taking on a serious expression. He gazed down at Stella, his tone noticeably sterner as he asked, "Is that necklace actually Irina's?"

Stella chewed on her lip before ultimately taking off the necklace reluctantly. "Since you're so bothered by it, Rina… I'll just return it to you!"

She let go of the necklace before I could grab it, causing it to smash into the floor heavily. The metal chain broke and sent the wolf fang hurtling toward the table corner. Immediately, the fang shattered into countless pieces.

My mind went blank at the sight, and it was as though the entire world had fallen silent around me.

That was the last thing Matt had left me!

I lunged toward Stella, knocking her aside before dropping to my knees to pick up the shattered pieces.

Stella took advantage of the momentum and fell backward, her body slamming into the closet behind her. She cried out in pain. "It hurts so much! I-I think my injury got worse!"

Upon hearing that, Sebastian anxiously swept her into his arms before dashing for the front door.

Before leaving, though, he sighed and said to me, "Irina, Stella didn't mean to do that. Sure, the pendant is broken now, but I can always just buy you another one. Even ten of them, if that's what you wish.

"Whatever the case, you shouldn't have hurt Stella. She only got injured because she tried to save our pup."

Pausing briefly, he then added, "If Matt were still here, he wouldn't have wanted you to harm an innocent person over something he gave you."

That last sentence stabbed deep into my heart like a dagger.

I kneeled on the floor, entire body trembling as I carefully picked up the shattered pieces of the wolf fang.

After some time had passed, there was a ripping sensation from deep within my soul as agony blazed through me. Following that, the mate bond that had connected me to Sebastian all these years slowly vanished, bit by bit.

A beat later, the pain abruptly stopped, and all that was left was a hollow feeling in my chest. Slowly getting to my feet, I wiped away the tears on my cheeks and tucked the shattered wolf fang pieces into my breast pocket.

Outside the manor, the sky was gradually lightening.

The Temple guards were standing in neat lines, already waiting for me when I stepped out. The guard captain dipped his head at me in acknowledgement. "Ms. Sharpe, it's time we depart."

Pulling my luggage behind me, I left the manor behind, not even looking back once.

From today onward, neither Sebastian nor the Silverwolf pack had anything to do with me anymore.

Sebastian's voice was very hoarse, like he had traveled a great distance before finally arriving at his final destination.Nonetheless, I simply watched him quietly. There was no surprise or resentment, just calm, as though I were looking at a stranger. That sort of gaze had Sebastian's heart clenching in his chest. In the past, no matter how angry or upset I was, I would always have some sort of emotion in my eyes as I stared at him. Now, however, there was nothing. He instinctively took a step forward, but when his eyes drifted down to the priestess robe I wore, he stopped in his tracks.Under the pale light from the moon, the silvery-white robe glowed faintly. It was a symbol of being one of the Moon Goddess' priestesses, but it now also served as an insurmountable distance between them."I know that I was wrong. I've already looked into the truth behind Matt's death and thrown Stella in the dungeon for it. It was my fault for not believing in you. I was the one who killed our

  • We Ended When My Pup Died   Chapter 9

The first month after leaving the Silverwolf pack, I woke up almost every night due to nightmares.I would always dream of Matt. Sometimes, his entire body would be covered in blood as he stood in the distance and kept calling for me. Other times, he would be crying as he asked me why I hadn't saved him.One thing was the same across all the nightmares, though—I would always wake up with tears dampening my pillow. The place the priestesses lived in was incredibly quiet. There was no arguing or scheming going on, and there certainly weren't any of those suffocating memories haunting me.Even so, it took me a long time to get used to life here. When I had first arrived at the Temple, I would always instinctively wake up at the crack of dawn and head out of my room to handle my pack duties, as was my habit. However, upon stepping out of my room, I would abruptly remember that all that had nothing to do with me anymore.I was a priestess of the Moon Goddess Temple now, nothing more.

Sebastian could hardly believe what he was hearing. More than anyone, he was well aware of what becoming a priestess meant."That's impossible! Irina is my Luna and the most distinguished she-wolf in the entire Silverwolf pack! Why would she give up on such a dignified position and join the Temple?"Once I became a priestess of the Moon Goddess Temple, I would have to serve the Moon Goddess for the rest of her life, which meant that anything between us was no longer possible.Sebastian wasted no time striding out, all the while instructing Marcus, "Get the car ready and gather the guards. I'm going to the Temple."However, he never even got to leave the manor when an old but powerful voice rang out behind him."Alpha Sebastian, you can't go there."At the entrance to the conference hall, all seven members of the Council of Elders had gathered without him knowing. The First Elder leaned against his staff as he gazed at Sebastian calmly. "The Moon Goddess Temple is a hallowed plac

Stella's knees went weak, but she still firmly denied everything, "No, I didn't do it… Sebby, you have to believe me. I love you so much! Why would I harm your pup?"Sebastian suddenly laughed, though the sound was anything but amused. It sounded so cold that it sent shivers down Stella's spine."You love me? So that justifies you standing by and doing nothing as a pup dies?"If possible, Stella paled even further. At this point, she was finally realizing that Sebastian would never believe her again. With a thump, she dropped to her knees and threw her arms around his leg in a tight grip."Sebby, I was wrong. I was just too scared at the time! I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to save him! I was worried that you would blame me because of that! I really didn't mean for him to die!"Slowly crouching in front of her, Sebastian uttered in a deceptively gentle tone that hid the frost beneath, "Did you know? After Matt's death, Irina had nightmares every single night. She told me co

Sebastian didn't rest at all for the next two days, and the light in his study remained on even through the night.Marcus had placed the results of their investigation onto the desk in front of him, and the contents of the report left Sebastian feeling deeply unsettled. It seemed like my departure had been planned, as all my luggage had been packed beforehand. Even the Luna's duties of keeping the ceremonial records and handling other pack matters had been passed on to the elders before I left.As it turned out, I had been planning to leave ever since our pup died.A suffocating feeling wrapped around Sebastian, and his heart ached dully in his chest. "Irina, how could you bear to leave me?" he whispered. At that moment, Marcus rushed into the study."Alpha Sebastian, we've discovered that before Luna Irina left, she repeatedly looked into the records of the day Matt died. There appears to be something suspicious about the members of the patrol team that conducted the search-and-

Sebastian refused to believe that I had truly left. After all, this was my home, and I was the Silverwolf pack's Luna. Besides, I loved him so much that I was even willing to sacrifice my own happiness for him over and over again. How could I have possibly left, just like that?Forcing down the unease clamoring within him, he rushed back to the manor as quickly as he could. However, when he opened the door to my room, he was utterly stunned. The room was empty. All the clothes in the closet were gone, along with the books on the shelves and the photos on the desk. Even the potted plant that I had been keeping by the windowsill for the past few years had been taken away. The entire room was clean, eerily so, as though nobody had ever lived there. The air seemed to leave Sebastian's lungs, and he struggled to breathe."Impossible… Why would she leave…" he muttered to himself. After a long while of silence, he suddenly snapped his head up."Send people out to search for her righ
