Chapter 36

Jenna's POV

At night,

"Jenna, darling, what happened between you and Jace. I heard you guys were so happy when you came back. Why were you both ignoring each other on the dining table?" Mom asked me as I finished covering Jared with a blanket in his cot.

"Mom, there's nothing like that."

"It's about Liza, isn't it?" She was evaluating my face for better understanding.

"No, it's not-"

"I'm the old Luna Queen, remember? Maids don't lie to me." She smiled threateningly and I bit my lips. "So it's her."

"Yes," I told her everything without looking at her.

When I finished, I thought she would also say I overreacted, but she hissed infuriatedly and clenched her jaw.

"I knew that girl is trouble when she was brought here."

"Mom? She's your niece. You're not serious, are you?"

"Jenna, my family was horrible to me. Especially Liza's parents." She closed the window first before she sat in front of me on bed and resumed, "They were mean and I actually faced bullying in their hands."

"However when I became the luna queen and gave birth to Jace, they suddenly became nice. They wanted the benefits of being the luna queen's family. But I paid them no heed." She rubbed her temples harshly. "That didn't mean they stopped there. Since Jace was young, they started surrounding him. They knew well that Jace wasn't like his parents. He's not like anyone when he's himself. What he wants, he gets. And whatever he wants to do, he does. That being the case, they started licking the ground he walked on and made him feel like he's precious to them. And when he became a teenager, they started shoving Liza into his arms."

I fisted my hands so tightly that my knuckles cracked.

"I tried to stop him from going near Liza and I may have succeeded. But when he came home from the Alpha academy, as an adult, he was out of my control. He did what he pleased- which included keeping Liza here in the castle with us."

She grinned hatefully, "I'm actually glad her parents died, otherwise she would've been sitting here as Jace's Luna queen, not you."

That story cemented my insecurities. I gulped and looked at mom with a mixture of negative emotions.

"Mom, she will destroy our marriage if she stays here."

Mom took my hand with a helpless smile blooming on her face, "I know, sweetheart. I wish I could do something. But Jace won't listen to me or his father or anyone else if it's about Liza."

I angrily snatched my hands back and got up, "That's the whole problem. When it comes to her, only he has the right to make decisions. No one else."

"I can understand your situation, Jenna. I won't ask you to endure everything silently, but I'll suggest you to be calm around her. I know you're not wrong, but it might look to Jace that you are bullying her. I don't want you two to fight over her again."

"I'll keep that in mind." I sat back in front of her and hugged her.

"I can keep Jared in my room with me if you want. You look tired. Just rest a little."

"Yes, please." I hugged her tightly. "Thanks, mom. I don't know what I would have done without you."

"Don't thank me, sweetie. He's my grandson. Anything for him."

I waved at her as she took Jared away to her room. When she vanished, I leaned on the frame of the door while closing my eyes. And though I tried to avoid it, Liza playing with my son in the afternoon spilled into my mind.

'Try to forget it, Jenna. It'll only enrage you more and more.' Gianna said in a soft tone.

'I can't, Gia. You remember what she said on the link, didn't you?'

She went quiet as I recalled it... The reason why I really lost my temper.

When we walked inside the house this afternoon, Liza smirked at me and she told me on the link, 'Look, temporary Luna. Your son is playing with me. He's quite comfortable with me. It won't be long before he starts calling me his Mamma. I can't wait for that. For him to call me his Mamma- I'm teaching him persistently. You see, after Jace rejects and throws you out, I'll be fully responsible to raise his heir— I'll be his Mamma.'

Those words were why I jerked her away from Jared. She knows how to trigger me. She will keep doing that if she's here.

And we'll keep having fights and arguments over her.

The air was sadly warm today. I stood there with closed eyes as my emotions were spiraling out of my control. It's not a thing to be sad about, I still was. And I wanted to cry.

Just as the first tear began to push down the barricade of my closed eyelid, I felt hot lips on my lip. My eyes shot open, allowing all the tears to gush out. However, I didn't get to wipe them as I stared at my husband.

Jace was clutching my waist and kissing down my neck. I felt the tears trail below my chin and onto my throat. He licked them away. Cleaned them, yet he didn't look up.

My body was buzzing in ecstasy. Despite the storm of insecurities in my chest, I buried my hands in his hair and let him ravish me.

I enjoyed the feel of his lips on my skin. I moaned when his fingers kneaded my bréasts. I gasped out loud when he pinched them. I had forgotten I was sad and insecure until... He whispered something in my ear.

"I'm yours, Jenna I will always be yours. I will always just love you. "

I froze. My eyes sprang open and I found myself looking into his intense ones.

There was only love and concern. Concern for me. Concern for our marriage. Concern for what we will do in life if I continued to be insecure.

"I know." I deadpanned. "And that is why I don't understand this?"

"What?"

"That if you love me, why can't you send her away!"

His expression tightened for a moment before he forced a smile, "You know she has nowhere else to go."

"She can find somewhere. A good house with a good guy. We'll find her the right husband." Jace moved away.

"We're back at it... Fighting over her. Why is she making you so insecure, Jenna? It's you who I married. You I chose as my mate. So why does her being here is freaking you out so much?"

Silence fell between them before I stated, "Maybe because I'm scared the history will repeat again. There was a woman like her around my first husband. She slowly wormed her way between us until there was nothing left of our marriage." I paused to let that sink in. "And I feel like the same will happen between us."

His eyes softened sadly, "Don't do that, Jenna."

"Do what?"

"Turn my concern for a helpless family member into proof that I want her." He came closer again. His lips were back on my neck.

Unlike before, they moved gently to prove a point. His hands held my waist firmly like they will never hold another waist like that again. His sips were reassuring. But my insecurities were valid too.

"She used to have you. She knows how you feel like in bed." I whispered and his lips froze on my neck.

Chapter 58 Jace's POV We were silent for a long time. Neither of us spoke. Suddenly Jenna lifted her face and eyes me innocently."What?" I chuckled. She nodded in no, "You burned Liza alive."My face stilled. I pulled her closer and joined our foreheads, "I had to. She was the bane of our family."I kissed her."Also," I added. "She made me doubt my wife's intentions. I had to punish her."At that, she hugged me tighter and rested her face on my shoulder. She was sitting straddling my waist while I held her like my toddler baby.My back had healed. Hence, I was able to sit this way.The doctors had been worried because the wound wasn't healing in my state of unconsciousness. That's the reason why they refused to give any answer. But the second I woke up, the wound healed, and all the residue of wolfsbane and silver was eliminated by my immune system."What happened to Chris and that lady?" I suddenly asked as I remembered those two."Both dead. And that lady was Doctor Henry's daug

Chapter 57Jenna's POV 'Thanks, bro. Head towards the Rogues' territory with your team. I'll meet you there.''Roger that!''Okay.'We broke the link. I sucked a sharp breath as I focused on the road ahead. If I drive at high speed, I'll get there in twenty minutes.Jenna, hold on for a while, love. Your husband is coming to get you.(Twenty minutes later)"Jace, finally you're here." Oakley came running towards my car as I applied brakes."Did you find her location?" I was not even fully out of the car."Yes, and already stationed our soldiers around the area." Oakley said, sending a wave of relief through me."Thank, goddess.""Don't worry, Jace. The situation is already in our control." Oakley flashed a shark grin and my eyebrows cocked in confusion. "Chris's soldiers look novice. They are not attentive at all, let alone alert.""I think he brought untrained wolves here. And I must add that his Beta and Gamma are not here either."I acknowledged with a nod, "He's probably doing it

Chapter 56Jenna's POV Jace has never touched her before. He hadn't done it this time either. It's that bìtch who always found ways to go near him.'There's no point in giving yourself false hope, Jenna. Jace isn't the man we thought he was. Accept it.' Gianna said.A feeling of disappointment rose over me. No! My wolf is not right here. She's hurt from Jace's wolf's words, and rest is the impact of wolfsbane.Jace loves us.'You really think that? Then tell me, why didn't he come after us when we left?'he He might have a reason.'No,' Gianna grunted weakly. 'It's because he was bewitched by his mistress's beauty and he chose her instead.'That's not true. I was breathless in anger. Gianna's words struck a chord that it shouldn't have.'I'll prove it to you that Jace still only loves us.'Having that said, I lowered my guard. I had blocked out everyone and their feelings to avoid getting caught. However, as I lowered my guard, I could feel my family's emotions— Jace's first. He was

Chapter 55Jenna's POVI regained my senses at the feeling of stabbing spasms stretching throughout my body. My eyelids were heavy and so I couldn't drag them open. But my other senses were working well.I could hear and smell and feel my surroundings. The air was crackling with the chirping of thousands of crickets, meaning that I was most likely in a forest area; or where there were a lot of trees.I dragged in a deep breath to catch scents, and realized that wood was burning somewhere. Then I heard the noise of fire crackling. A bonfire. I subtly rubbed my hand on the ground and sensed the coarse texture. Soil. All the elements directed to one point, I was in a forest. My eyes felt better now. I was about to open them when, "Hadn't she woken up yet?" A familiar voice asked."No, Alpha Chris. After she turned into her human form while fainting, she's been just like that." Someone said,It wasn't Cleo's voice. Hmm. Perhaps Chris flew all the way to Silent Hills city with a small team

Chapter 54Jace's POV "Let this be a lesson to all those who think they can fool the Alpha King just because I trust them." I announced as I paced around with a flaming torch in my hand. Behind me a pyre was built in the middle of the city for people to watch. On it Liza was tied to a pole. She was drenched with petrol and shaking. Her eyes were red. She begged me to let her go, that she was honestly apologetic. That she acknowledged her blunder and would go away. "My trust has never been a weakness. My willingness to believe in those who stand beside me does not make me blind, nor does my kindness make me a fool. I give people my trust because I choose to see the good in them. Because I consider them my previous ones. But the moment that trust is betrayed, do not mistake my silence for ignorance. And don't ever think that you can outsmart me."I came to a halt. The flames were crackling beside my face. It was night now, the sky was dark with no stars. There were light poles around
