Chapter 39

Jace's POV

"But that woman had successfully conceived my child. She had no idea the child growing inside her was mine, nor did I. She thought it was her and her husband's baby, and she took care of herself with so much love and happiness."

"I only found out about her existence a few weeks before she was due to give birth. By then, there was nothing I could do except wait and pray that everything went well. But fate, it seems, had something much bigger planned for me." My lips curled as I recalled that day I was told by Oakley about my baby.

I had been over the moon. Wait, not just the moon... I had been over Jupiter. I was that excited and feeling blessed.

"Then what, Alpha King? Please don't make us wait. Tell us everything in one go. It's very difficult to wait for the big reveal." Some Luna piped in.

Others laughed at her, including me.

As that feeling of happiness bloomed in my chest, I resumed, "So as I said, she was close to giving birth to my baby. It was both exciting and enraging. Exciting because a woman finally managed to carry my child. Enraging because I couldn't be there to watch him grow. I couldn't support her. I will always miss doing that."

"But," I said loudly, dramatically. This was fun. "I was lucky enough to be there with her when she went into labor— and heavens, it was one hell of a ride. I'm telling you."

I rolled my wide eyes to express my emotions. That night had really been crazy.

"We've just met each other and I told her she was carrying my child when her labor pains suddenly began. I was standing there, waiting for the birth of my son. My son— A child I had never expected to have this way."

I paused, a smile slowly spreading across his face, "And the woman who gave him to me... She became the biggest surprise of my life."

There was a series of faint laughter. It was as if people were reliving it with me.

"Because I never imagined that the woman who would carry my child, the woman I never met before before the birth of my heir, the woman who literally yelled at me like I was some steward during her labor would also end up being my wife. Yes." I purposely softened my voice.

"My wife. It still feels surreal but I'm so blessed that what was supposed to be a simple IVF under a contract happened to be my everything. I found my mate and my wife in the very woman who unknowingly carried my son."

A murmur swept through the hall. I haven't told this to anyone that my wife was my chosen mate.

"You heard it right, I chose her as my mate. Why won't I! I mean, she gave me the baby I was dying to have. She is wonderful. Spectacular. Kind-hearted. And somehow, despite everything that happened, she gave me something I thought I had lost forever— the ability to believe in love again."

"And I must mention something else." I looked around the room, my smile growing. "Almost all of you here—no, let me correct that. Most of the people present in this room already know her."

Murmurs erupted in the crowd. They exchanged confused glances as they wondered among themselves about my Luna Queen. Above all, they discussed how it was possible.

My story clearly mentioned she was there for IVF for a child of her own. And that led them to discuss.

"Isn't this a bit confusing? If she was doing an IVF for her own child, how could the Alpha King marry her? What about her husband?"

"The husband didn't possibly sell her away when he discovered she was carrying the Alpha King's heir?"

"If the husband and wife wanted the child for themselves, why would they agree to this? This is so twisted?"

"Did the husband not want that child in the end?"

"Well perhaps he chose to get money in exchange for his wife and her baby in the womb."

Someone also remarked in a hushed voice, "Or perhaps our Alpha king used his powers to threaten the husband to divorce his wife so he could give his son his real biological parents. Anything is possible if it's his child."

Denis was offended by that hushed remark. He wanted to find the person and punish them.

I focused on the comments concerning the husband instead. It was surprising that Chris was talking about this too.

'The jerk has the audacity to discuss it like he isn't the one.'

'He doesn't just know yet.' I smirked as I cleared my throat again.

"I know my story stirred some disturbing doubts. I don't blame you. When I was living this moment in the story six months ago, I had pretty much the same shocking expression on my face." I said. "I know you are thinking about the husband. Why didn't he object? Why did he let me have his wife and the child he was carrying? Why this? Why that?. All of the answers... You will get those answers in a few minutes."

"I just want to say that our meeting was a twist of fate. Whatever happened, it broke my wife's heart. But luckily it healed her soul and everything else because we found each other."

My throat was dry. I needed water. Thankfully my storytelling was done. Just one more sentence, though.

Raising a hand and extending it towards the entrance, I announced, "So, without keeping you waiting any longer, allow me to introduce you to my wife, my chosen mate, and the incredible woman who gave me my son, Mrs. Jace Kingston."

The air noticeably shifted as everyone turned around to peer at the grand doors. There were footsteps and my son's grumpy cries. I rubbed the back of my head because Jared was ruining this moment. I couldn't blame him because he's a child.

My smile turned impossibly proud when I saw the flicker of blue at the corner of the grand doors. Then next moment, Jenna stepped in, holding our son; the crown sparkling mirthfully on her head.

For several seconds, the entire hall remained frozen in stunned silence. Me too. Jenna was looking impeccably hot. Naught thought crept into my mind.

I scolded myself and went down the steps to help her.

"Isn't he being a handful?" I extended my hands to take Jared.

"Handful? He's being a devil who escaped from hell." Jenna complained as Jared happily jumped into my arms.

His mood immediately changed when he came to me. He started screaming in joy and clapping his hands.

"Guess, he was just missing me." I shrugged my shoulders as Jenna threw a begrudging glare at our son.

"This little brat. I am going to start spanking him now. I swear it, Jace." I hid my son in my embrace and turned slightly to move him away from Jenna.

As we were lost in our little lovely family moment, the crowd around us composed. I could hear them murmur again. They were pointing fingers at Jenna and whispering her name.

They've recognized her.

And as they observed her from head to toe, in bafflement, their fingers slowly shifted to Chris, who had gone corpse-like pale.

Chapter 58 Jace's POV We were silent for a long time. Neither of us spoke. Suddenly Jenna lifted her face and eyes me innocently."What?" I chuckled. She nodded in no, "You burned Liza alive."My face stilled. I pulled her closer and joined our foreheads, "I had to. She was the bane of our family."I kissed her."Also," I added. "She made me doubt my wife's intentions. I had to punish her."At that, she hugged me tighter and rested her face on my shoulder. She was sitting straddling my waist while I held her like my toddler baby.My back had healed. Hence, I was able to sit this way.The doctors had been worried because the wound wasn't healing in my state of unconsciousness. That's the reason why they refused to give any answer. But the second I woke up, the wound healed, and all the residue of wolfsbane and silver was eliminated by my immune system."What happened to Chris and that lady?" I suddenly asked as I remembered those two."Both dead. And that lady was Doctor Henry's daug

Chapter 57Jenna's POV 'Thanks, bro. Head towards the Rogues' territory with your team. I'll meet you there.''Roger that!''Okay.'We broke the link. I sucked a sharp breath as I focused on the road ahead. If I drive at high speed, I'll get there in twenty minutes.Jenna, hold on for a while, love. Your husband is coming to get you.(Twenty minutes later)"Jace, finally you're here." Oakley came running towards my car as I applied brakes."Did you find her location?" I was not even fully out of the car."Yes, and already stationed our soldiers around the area." Oakley said, sending a wave of relief through me."Thank, goddess.""Don't worry, Jace. The situation is already in our control." Oakley flashed a shark grin and my eyebrows cocked in confusion. "Chris's soldiers look novice. They are not attentive at all, let alone alert.""I think he brought untrained wolves here. And I must add that his Beta and Gamma are not here either."I acknowledged with a nod, "He's probably doing it

Chapter 56Jenna's POV Jace has never touched her before. He hadn't done it this time either. It's that bìtch who always found ways to go near him.'There's no point in giving yourself false hope, Jenna. Jace isn't the man we thought he was. Accept it.' Gianna said.A feeling of disappointment rose over me. No! My wolf is not right here. She's hurt from Jace's wolf's words, and rest is the impact of wolfsbane.Jace loves us.'You really think that? Then tell me, why didn't he come after us when we left?'he He might have a reason.'No,' Gianna grunted weakly. 'It's because he was bewitched by his mistress's beauty and he chose her instead.'That's not true. I was breathless in anger. Gianna's words struck a chord that it shouldn't have.'I'll prove it to you that Jace still only loves us.'Having that said, I lowered my guard. I had blocked out everyone and their feelings to avoid getting caught. However, as I lowered my guard, I could feel my family's emotions— Jace's first. He was

Chapter 55Jenna's POVI regained my senses at the feeling of stabbing spasms stretching throughout my body. My eyelids were heavy and so I couldn't drag them open. But my other senses were working well.I could hear and smell and feel my surroundings. The air was crackling with the chirping of thousands of crickets, meaning that I was most likely in a forest area; or where there were a lot of trees.I dragged in a deep breath to catch scents, and realized that wood was burning somewhere. Then I heard the noise of fire crackling. A bonfire. I subtly rubbed my hand on the ground and sensed the coarse texture. Soil. All the elements directed to one point, I was in a forest. My eyes felt better now. I was about to open them when, "Hadn't she woken up yet?" A familiar voice asked."No, Alpha Chris. After she turned into her human form while fainting, she's been just like that." Someone said,It wasn't Cleo's voice. Hmm. Perhaps Chris flew all the way to Silent Hills city with a small team

Chapter 54Jace's POV "Let this be a lesson to all those who think they can fool the Alpha King just because I trust them." I announced as I paced around with a flaming torch in my hand. Behind me a pyre was built in the middle of the city for people to watch. On it Liza was tied to a pole. She was drenched with petrol and shaking. Her eyes were red. She begged me to let her go, that she was honestly apologetic. That she acknowledged her blunder and would go away. "My trust has never been a weakness. My willingness to believe in those who stand beside me does not make me blind, nor does my kindness make me a fool. I give people my trust because I choose to see the good in them. Because I consider them my previous ones. But the moment that trust is betrayed, do not mistake my silence for ignorance. And don't ever think that you can outsmart me."I came to a halt. The flames were crackling beside my face. It was night now, the sky was dark with no stars. There were light poles around
