Chapter Nine

Admetos

' Any traces of her ? ' I asked mind linking Alastair who was outside searching for the Epsilon .

' Still looking .' he replied curtly .

The Epsilon already infected three more people . I was waiting for father to call me to scold me . I was sure he will be very furious .

Just like magic, he was the one who came into my office at that moment .

' Father . ' I called and gave a slight bow .

' Admetos, have you found the Epsilon ? ' he asked immediately getting to business .

' No but we are getting there . ' I replied .

' Is it until it infects the whole pack that you will find it or what ? ' he shouted .

' We will find it soon . I promise .' I replied quietly .

' I want good news by the end of today . ' He said then walked out of my office .

Who could the Epsilon be ? I knew everyone in the pack . Not closely but I could mention them . Who could have turned rogue ? I was still thinking about this when Arya came in . I immediately felt calm . She carried an aura with her . I could not be angry or anxious whenever I'm with her .

' Admetos . ' she called moving closer to me .

' Arya, I am sorry I have not seen you in a while . I have been very busy with pack business . Will you forgive me ? ' I said and pulled her to my lap .

All wolves loved their mates sitting in their laps . Before I met mine, I thought it was too much affection to show in public but now I could not help myself . I do it anytime she's near . It is another way of claiming her .

' There is nothing to forgive my love . ' she replied touching my cheek .

I ran my temple against hers and pulled her head to my chest .

' How do you plan on finding the Epsilon ? ' she asked toying with the hem of my shirt .

' I am still hoping Alastair can catch a new scent . There is no other way and I need to find her today . ' I replied smoothening my hand down her hair .

' An Epsilon gets turned by sorrow right ? ' she asked looking up at me .

' Yes . A mate or a pup's death . ' I replied .

' If we have lost someone in the pack, won't it be recorded ? You should probably start from there . ' she murmured quietly .

I thought about this for a moment and saw she was right .

' Arya! You are a genius . ' I cried . She smiled at me and I bent my head to pull her lips into a deep kiss .

' Thank you . ' I murmured against her mouth .

' Anything for you . ' she replied breathy .

I stood up and went for the folder that recorded deaths . I traced the death of mates first . Then I found the most recent . One of the pack elders . Beowulf, the intelligent . It was a month and half ago . Enough time for a werewolf to turn to an Epsilon .

I mind linked Alastair .

' I found where she might be . Where are you ? ' I asked .

' On my way back . I will wait for you in front of the pack house . ' he replied . 

I took of my shirt and Arya immediately raised hands to cover her eyes .

' Don't do that love . You will be seeing more than this soon . ' I said to her grinning .

She removed her hands from her eyes and giggled .

' I have to go hunt down an Epsilon . See you when I'm back ? ' I asked bending down to look at her .

' Yes .Be Safe . ' she replied quietly and gave me a quick kiss on the lips before she scurried out . I wonder if she will even get used to me .

I pushed these thoughts aside as I walked out of the pack house to meet Alastair .

I got rid of my jeans at the front of the house . Alastair was still in his wolf form so I shifted to join him .

Then I led him to Beowulf's house .

' Admetos, this place is familiar . I feel like I have been here before but I can't remember . ' Alastair said through the mind link .

I felt the same way but I didn't say anything .

We changed back to our human forms and put on the jeans we held in our mouth when we were in our wolf forms .

I walked towards the door and knocked on the door .

Surprisingly Athena, Alastair's supposed mate answered the door .

' Athena . ' Alastair called his face showing shock .

' It is not her . ' I said turning to Alastair .

' Where is your mother ? ' I asked turning back to Athena . Her eyes immediately flashed wolf . 

' No . You cannot take her . ' she said fiercely .

' Where is your mother ? I won't ask you again . ' I said masking any form of emotion .

She shook her head not wanting to let go .

I jerked my head to Alastair to go inside and search . 

The back up I mind linked for on our way were already here, surrounding the house .

' Admetos, please don't do this . She is not herself . ' Athena begged .

' She already infected fifteen people in two days . Half of them will not recover . They will have to be burnt alive . Do you know the implication of that ? ' I asked her my voice laced with anger .

' She didn't know . ' she whispered .

' You know the rules Athena . She lost her mate and she cannot live with that . '

Alastair came out dragging a cage . Looks like Athena caged her own mother . She was snarling and clawing at her cage .

' She is already too far gone . It has to happen here . ' I said to Alastair . He gulped and nodded his head . I understood his pain but I could not ease it .

' If you do this, I will call upon Zeus . ' Athena screamed .

' I'm sorry . ' I said to her .

Then I took off my jeans and shifted . Alastair opened the cage and I moved towards the Epsilon . She was calm now . She knew she was going to die . This would not be one of my best moments, but I didn't have a choice . I raised my right paw and clawed her throat out . 

Athena's scream rent the air . Alastair moved to hold her but he was too late . She already shifted to a raven and flew away .
