My pleasantly tough heels clattered as I walked through the hallway. My tea-pink silk dress flowed as I made my way forward whereas the neat cut that reached the mid thigh of my right leg made me feel uncomfortable.  The dress hugged my waist like a second skin. The thin straps were alone lifting the weight of my dress and I feared that anytime soon they would get torn and leave me holding my dress to prevent it from falling.

The image in my imagination alone made me curse the person whoever had placed this dress into my closet. Lady Hannah had mentioned that there would be two dresses out of which we could choose but that was not the case with me as this was the only dress hanging. How further unlucky could I get?

I glanced down at my heels that were silver, shimmery and had lifted me off to a height of 5 feet 7 inch from my figure of 5 feet 4 inch. Thanks to my mom who always made me wear these high heels at almost every party or I would have sprained my ankle already.

I was late. I was never late in my entire life but toady I was. I had halted my instant record to a stop. However, this was not what made my heart race and my palms to get sweaty. It was what I was looking forward to. Not the dance as I had no idea if there would be anyone to ask me for it, but the plan that my cronie (note the sarcasm) had concocted. The great Damien. He said I would get my answers today.

I reached the huge door, more alluring then that of the assembly hall. It was the only barrier that separated me from the ball room. I glanced up at the huge clock that hinged in a corner at the right. I was half an hour late.

If only I knew that I won't have my makeup products on my dressing table, followed by my heels, I would have gathered everything beforehand. I could hear the sound of soft rhythm coming from the inside. I gave myself a last check in the mirror, that had occupied the whole of the wall at the left. This academy had myriad mirrors and almost in every hallway.Weird.

My makeup was flawless and natural looking. I had applied a thin line of black eye liner that gave my dark brown eyes a pop, followed by the mascara which made my eyes look mesmerising.

Of course, I was a little proud of my eyes since they were the best feature of my face, not that the other features were ugly or something. I had 'tapped' pink colored lipstick on my lips since I knew there would not be any use of applying it completely. All the praise goes to my habit of licking my lips again and again and biting them too.

My dark brown hair, the same color as my eyes, were cascading down my back until reaching the waist. They were looking much better since they were washed and then curled from the ends. I look perfect. I thought and then made may way to the door.

After holding the cold door knob, I pushed it open with a little too much force. I thought these would be heavy but no, I was wrong. As bad luck had painted my fate since few days, I stumbled inside when the door opened way too wide.

I lost my equilibrium and was ready to kiss the floor. I shut my eyes tightly, ready to embrace the pain and embarrassment. However, after few seconds I realised that I did not embrace any pain.

I opened my eyes and saw two muscular arms had been wrapped around me, securing me from falling. I heaved a sigh of relief and stood straight. My eyes met emerald green orbs. I gasped.

They were my favourite colored eyes and instantly reminded me of my father. We were quite close to eachother, enough for me to inhale his minty scent but then I instantly regret it. It was obvious enough for the hero to notice that i had just inhaled his cologne like some stupid kid would inhale the scent of candies or whatever sweet they loved.

I again looked up and saw his lips stretching into a smirk. I blinked twice and then quickly pulled myself through his arms, that had safeguarded me from embarrassing myself in front of the entire crowd and dusted off the non existing dust from my silk dress.

"I am so very much sorry." I said.

Unbelievably, my voice sounded perfect, not like I had expected it to croak or something, my eyes glancing at the marble floor.

"No issue at all. No one would mind holding a beauty in his arms."

His voice was smooth and sounded like a man, like a mature man, rough but at the same time smooth.

"Excuse me?" I asked.

I was getting confused as to why was I not feeling angry at his comment but instead a red blush creeped up my cheeks. I then took in his appearance.

His broad and lean body was covered by white, tight button down shirt. I could effortlessly notice the muscles underneath them. This was followed by a black suit.

I used to think that suits were only made for my dad since they suited him a lot but here was this hero in front of me, who made me change my perception.

His perfectly tanned skin was glowing under the lights while his charcoal black hair were gelled and sleeked back from his forehead. One could tell that he was a mature man. I assumed him to be in his mid twenties or something, by his perfect built body.

"You heard me principessa. And yep, you are right. I am in twenties but early twenties. However, next time I want to hear my exact age." With that he pushed his hands in pockets and left elegantly with a smirk plastered on his face, leaving a dumbstrucked girl i.e. me.

Had I said that out loud? I thought to myself but that was useless. Of course I had or how would he have come to know? I was busy gazing at the spot where my hero was just standing a while ago when I felt a cold hand touch my bare shoulder.

I squeaked and turned around only to find Eleanor, her svelte figure looking amazing in the silver dress. Unlike mines, it had sleeves that went flowing by the end of her wrist and had no cut.

"My God! It really is you! Were you planning to make thousands of boys drool over you in one day?" She said while all that I did was an eye roll. Okay, I really had started to do that a lot.

"You look your self damn pretty. How can you say that to me?" I replied.

"Oh shut up! I saw you talking to sir Aiden just a few minutes ago. But it is not graceful for a girl to stare at a man with open mouth once he leaves. I wonder why didn't you drool."

"Aiden." I whispered the name. "How does he know Italian?"

"He teaches Italian here, duh!" She said to what I just nodded my head.

"Come on. You are already done making a Cinderella entry. Time to go and see Damien. He is legit going mad waiting for you." She said and then held my hand, pulling me towards her.

We walked down the stairs and then I took in the surroundings. It was a dream coming true and felt as if the hall had just come out of the Cinderella's movie.

The ceiling had flowers and so many other patterns painted and carved on it. To add more honey, huge chandeliers were hanging, illuminating the ball room, but the overall lighting was a little dim. This made the environment cozy and sort of romantic with that rhythm being playing.

I then noticed that a young girl, younger than me, was playing the piano, sitting far in a corner. She had wavy honey blonde hair that had a purple streak in it. Her lips were coated with red lipstick and light hazel eyes made her look even more cute.

Her petite figure made her blend in with the surroundings and that was helped by the light golden short dress that she was wearing. Her skin was pale, just like that of mines but mine and had a little colour in it. Hers felt like she would faint anytime.

"Boo." I felt hot breath fanning my ear.

The sudden sound made me jump and my fight mode eventually turned on, making me turn and greet that person with a punch on the nose. Let me highlight here now that what I did was so not good or a right involuntary action at all.

Damien let out a squeak, holding his nose. When he pulled his hands away, I saw red blood coating his fingers. It was little but still, it was blood.

"Seriously? Is that how you greet your friend? I thought you would be dying to see me since we had to work on our plan today. " He said while looking for something in his pockets.

"I am so much sorry! I really didn't mean to. It was just my fight action turning on." I began to fiddle with my fingers.

I felt too guilty at that moment. First, I bumped into my hero i.e. Sir Aiden and then I just punched Damien. God, my day was getting worse by each minute. And where the hell had Eleanor gone?

"It won't come clean by using a dry handkerchief."

I started when saw him pulling out one from his suit's pocket.

He was wearing royal blue suit with a tea-pink silk handkerchief placed at his front pocket. Wait, that colour and stuff was just like mine. Also his tie! It was as if we had intentionally did that to make us look like a couple.

"Come with me." I took Damien's warm hand in mine and began pulling him out of the ball room into another hallway and then into the washroom. He didn't stop me but in fact tightened his hold on my hand. I just ignored the tingles that were passing through my hand to my whole arm.

On reaching inside the washroom, I opened the tap and once slightly warm water began flowing, I dipped the handkerchief in and then began cleaning his nose. He was seated on the counter, making me place one hand at the other side of Damien, on the marble shelf.

The proximity made my heart race. His warm breath was falling on my forehead. Feeling his gaze on me, I shifted my eyes to his eyes and found them looking intensely at me. I gulped loudly and slowly I was getting lost in his eyes.

My hand slowly made its way down as my focus was no longer on cleaning his nose. Damien began leaning in closer. My mind completely went dead as if the battery had just died down. I too shifted my face closer to his. Indeed I was gone mad. His eyes fall to my lips and I found him licking his lips.

The distance closed to such extent that even if one made a move, our lips would touch each others. I looked at Damien's eyes to see him still staring at my lips. Do I want him to kiss me?  I questioned myself.

Damien took a last breath in and closed his eyes to make his move and then it happened. No one could describe how I felt at that moment, not even me.

Anger, embarrassment, shy, crazy and so much more. Why?

'It' does not mean the kiss. The same young girl who was playing the piano elegantly in the ball room came into the washroom and when saw us, let out a small scream.

I and Damien, both at the same time jumped and got our heads to bump into each other. He and I looked at her embarrassingly. Damien quickly jumped off the counter.

"I am sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt you guys. What made me scream was that what a 'boy' was doing in a girl's washroom." She said after which I saw the shocked expression on Damien's face.

Where else was I suppose to take him? Boys washroom sounded a bad idea to me instead of girls washroom. I looked at him with guilt in my eyes. Okay, so nothing was going normal and I had left no chance to embarrass myself.

Damien took my hand and then gave himself a quick look to see his nose. It was cleaned. Then he pulled me out of the washroom and stood in the hallway, still holding my hand.

"I am so sorr...." I was interrupted when Damien spoke.

"No, that is absolutely fine." He was rubbing his neck and his eyes were looking anywhere but mine.

"Infact....I am sorry. You know for....well...the almost kiss. Let's just forget it happened, okay?" He asked me.

I felt a slight tug at my heart. Was he regretting for kissing me almost?

I gave a short nod to which he smiled and then said, "Good. Just don't mention it to anyone. Anyways, we should head back inside."

"Wait. " I stopped him.

He turned around and left my hand.

"Are you not going to talk about the plan you mentioned yesterday? I have been legit thinking about it since that very moment. It was so hard for me to sleep last night. Do you even have any idea? And here you are. Acting so normal and cool!"

My voice had reached a higher loudness by the end and the anger was clear in my voice. Was I really angry at him for last night or for....?

"Woah, cool down." He said while bringing his hands up.

"Okay, since no one is around. Now listen." He stepped a little closer. At that moment, the little distance did not matter but the plan.

"We are going to a library today, after we are done with the dance. Everyone is busy at the ball. We will sneak out of this building and sneak into the headquarters that is right beside the training centre you were looking at yesterday in the assembly hall."

I listened intently and the picture of that building popped into my mind".

Why not the library here?" I asked a little confused.

"Because this library do not contain the content that is placed there. You wanted to know what the Keystone Tree is and so do I. Now lets move."

"But what about my dress? I cannot move about in this." I motioned to my dress.

A smirk made its way to Damien's handsome face.

"I would love to keep seeing you in this dress since you look damn hot and pretty but yeah you are right. We can first go to our dorms and then head to the headquarters."

I just slapped him on his head for the first part that he said but internally, it reduced my anger on him. He thought I looked hot and pretty. I started walking so that he may not see the small smile that appeared on my face.

"You messed up my hair." He caught up with me through his long strides and soon we reached the ballroom.

I looked in the corner and saw the same girl sitting and playing the piano. I remembered her voice, it was just like her thin figure, delicate and soft but a little squeaky at the same time. Someone cleared his throat and pulled me out of my thoughts.

"Would you um...you know...." Damien trailed off and I saw couples lining up on the dance floor. Damien was stuttering today a lot and this was totally a new side to see.

"He wants to ask you for a dance dumbo!" I heard Eleanor completing his sentence while she made her way to the dance floor with some random boy I had never seen before. My brows shot up in surprise and saw Damien glaring at Eleanor who was too busy talking to that boy now.

I let out a giggle and said, "So Damien, the great, also loses his confidence some times, hmm?"

"Yes or no?" He simply asked while  looking a little embarrassed.

"Awww. I can't say no such a adorable Damien, can I?"

"Come on."

I walked to the centre of the dance floor and just at the same time reached Damien.

"Stop glaring at me."

"Nah. You at least deserve a glare from me." He smirked. I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever."

The slow and romantic music began to flow through the ballroom. Couples stood in their positions and commenced to sway with the music. Variegated ball gowns and dresses flowed around followed by the clattering and the tap of the heels and shoes.

Damien snaked his arms around my waist and I placed my arms around his neck. His eyes were boring into mines. Not again. I groaned inwardly. He pulled me closer to him.

"We are awfully close." I squeaked out.

"Awfully?" He chuckled.

"But I think you like it."

"No I don't. " I fired back a little too quick.

"Let me think. That was not the case in the washroom." He twirled me round twice and then pulled me back to him.

I blushed so hard that the heat began to seep out of my cheeks and made me look down.

We danced for a little too long for my like and since I was dancing with Damien, he made me regret saying yes to him for the dance. He made me do every single dance step which was not necessary. The couples around us stopped dancing to look at our dance.

He made me twirl and then pulled me flush to his chest with my back against him and we would start to sway with his arms sliding up and down my bare arms, setting them to fire.

Then there was this one dance step in which he would hold me from my waist and push me into the air, off the ground and twirl me around. That step made me smile too hard since I began to enjoy the dance too.

Our dance ended with me dipped down, his one arm holding me by my waist while the leg with a cut on the dress, as it was exposed, was held by him near his waist. My one arm was holding him by his neck and the other just by my side.

Huge grins were plastered on our faces and we both were breathing hard with our eyes staring deep into each other's.

We were pulled out of our trance by the loud cheering and clapping of the crowd, which we had not noticed until that moment, had gathered around us. Even the music was not playing as that piano girl was standing, cheering and whistling for us.

We both blushed hard and stood straight. My thigh that was in his hands just a while ago felt like it was electrocuted.

And now here I was, sitting at a table and my feet were cursing me. Dancing in heels and then especially like 'that' was a bad decision. However, one thing was clear, I and Damien, actually Damien since he was the one to lead, was an AMAZING dancer.

"Ready?" Whispered Damien.

At first I was confused but then I remembered what he meant.

"Ready as much as I will ever be." I smiled.
