Alina's POV… Seven years later… I was making dinner when I heard shouting and quarrels. I sighed because I knew the people causing the noise. “What now?” I asked. I waited for them to come upstairs and table the cause of their argument. Adrian and Aria loved each other. Adrian took after his father's looks. He had Darren's handsome face and took after my eyes. Aria was a very beautiful girl. She had very cute eyes and a sharp nose. Both Adrian and Aria had Darren's long lashes. My prayers were answered. Adrian always looked after his sister. He protected her in school from bullies. Aria was a soft girl. She couldn't say no to anybody, but at home, she was a wrestler. She always quarreled and had issues with her brother. Regardless, they were wonderful children. “Mom, Adrian is at it again” Aria reported angrily as she pointed at Adrian who was leaning by the kitchen door, smirking at her. Why does he remind me so much of his father? “I didn't do anything mom. She's just accusing
Darren's POV… I expected Alina's call to inform me when she reached her parents' place, but didn't get any calls. I got worried that something bad must have happened to her and coupled with the fact that I had been on edge lately, compounded everything. I called her several times but she didn't pick up. I alerted Bruno and instructed him to track her location, but everything came out void. I waited and waited for her call but she didn't call or message me. I was about to inform my men to look for her when Stephanie called. “Darren. We need you. Alina and I have been kidnapped by some unknown men. Although Alina seems to recognise one of them” she whispered into the call. I knew at that moment who the familiar man was. Antonio. So Vito actually had the guts to kidnap my wife and my babies. What about the twins? “Where are the twins?” I asked anxiously. “They're here with me. We're in a strange building. I'm not with Alina. They took her somewhere else and left me with the twins
Alina's POV…“What do you want?” I asked sternly. Surprisingly, I wasn't scared at all. “Our boss needs you,” one of the men said.“Well unfortunately, he's your boss and not mine and I do not answer to him” I said boldly.“I'm not doing this with you. I'm definitely not in the mood for your antics” the supposed Alessio said and turned to one of the men. “Cut it”I didn't understand what he meant, but the next thing I heard was a loud noise, like an explosion. The car jerked and the babies woke and their cries filled the air. Stephanie tried making them go back to sleep.I fumed in anger and turned on the ignition to zoom off, but the engine didn't come on. I tried again, but it failed. They started laughing and I looked at them.“We've cut your engine wire. You can't run and you certainly can't escape us. Now, get down from the car, you and every other person in there, get in our car and follow us.“You'll have to make me” I said daringly. I didn't know where I got such courage.“S
Third person's POV…A month later…“I'll be going to see my parents today and with my babies too” Alina said to Darren as he got dressed to leave the house. The babies were laid in the nursery beside the bed and Alina swung it slowly from side to side.“Your babies?” Darren asked and raised a brow at her.“Whatever. You know what I mean. So, I'll go in the afternoon”He nodded. “Okay. Just be safe. I don't want anything to happen to you or the babies”At that moment, one of the babies sneezed. “Bless you, Adrian,” Alina said as she smoothed his back.“Aria and Adrian. What a perfect combination” Darren smiled.Alina smiled as well, but soon her face fell.“Still thinking about Aria?” He asked. She nodded slowly. He came closer and sat beside her on the bed. “It's okay. You know there was virtually nothing you could do at that time”She looked at him. “I just miss her,” Alina confessed. “So much… so bad and whenever I see her” she gestured to her baby girl. “Carry her, play with her o
Third person's POV…Miriam and Daren were pacing up and down the hospital corridor. The doctors had just taken Alina into the operation room. “How did you know she went into labour and alerted me?” Miriam asked Darren.“Whenever I leave the house, I always call to check up on her and she always picks up, so when I called several times and she didn't pick up, I knew instantly that something was wrong. I rushed back home and met her unconscious on the floor. I think her water broke” he explained.“I wonder what traumatized her that made her enter a premature labour” Miriam wondered. “I just hope she and the babies are going to be okay”Darren didn't say anything. He just kept pacing up and down. Miriam went to him and held him on his shoulder.“She's going to be alright” she assured. “We can only pray and hope everything goes well”That seemed to knock some less worrying in him.She led him to the bench and they sat there silently. The silence consumed the corridor. The silence was chi
Alina's POV… “We were short on money that period. We were just two lovebirds who didn't know anything about parenting. We just fell in love and the next thing, I got pregnant with you and your sister. We were too young and naive, but we loved you both so much, even though we didn't have any finance for taking care of you” “Why didn't you ask your parents for money? They would have helped and then you wouldn't have to sell us out?” I asked without any respect. After much deliberation and advice from both Miriam and Darren, I decided to give them a listening ear and hear what they had to say. “We had eloped. I came from a wealthy background and my parents weren't in support of me getting married to your father, because he was from a low income family. I found out I couldn't change their minds, so I ran away with him” my mother explained. “It was very difficult for us to survive, because my father blocked my accounts and restricted my access to anything he owned. We lived from hand t
