chapter 1

She knew it was going to be difficult. Even though she had it all planned out. She talked to her student advisor beforehand for the transfer to another university in a different city. She paid the hostel fees online in advance so she don't have to face any difficulties in renting a house which she can't afford. She had to sell her gold locket chain which she used to wore all the time, gifted by her mother.

Packing her bags and buying the train ticket from station, all the while her nerves were panicking. She sweated profusely as she held the ticket tightly in her hands and the ticket conductor eyed her suspiciously.

She moved away from there as soon as possible and sat on a quite bench where only females were seated.

She noted the time on her wrist watch for the tenth time. She was perplexed as she waited eagerly for the train to arrive.

"Why it had to be late only this day?" She whispered to herself in a constant state of nervousness.

She was scared and white as sheet, as she knew that any moment her nasty father will appear and will grab her nape and then drag her home. And god knows if he'll kill her or marry her with some shitty asshole who'll only add to her miseries.

She was confident with her decision and she had to take it, stepping for your ownself is never wrong but its your right.

She thanked heavens that she got her identity card made as soon she turned eighteen or it would have been impossible to move to a new city without going through police protocols.

She was knocked out of her thoughts when the coming train's horn rang loudly in her ears and a heavy voice stated it's arrival in the loud speaker. She stood up, moving closer to the platform along with the other passengers.

The earth beneath her feet started to vibrate as the train got closer and closer. Finally it hauled in front of her and doors opened. She started to step in along with the rushing people, turning around and glancing at her back for the last time. She was leaving her family, her birthplace, her home. She wondered if her father was between the crowd, trying to find her before she leaves forever. The mild thought if going back scared her.

She hurried and stepped in, pulling the backpack over her shoulders again to balance it. She checked her seat number, and found her seat. She sat hurriedly as the people were crowded and bumping into each other.

In maximum 3 minutes, the doors were closed and train started to move. She breathed a sigh of relief and leaned against the window by her right side. Plugging the headphones in her ear, she watched out the city which was going behind as the train moved forward.

She was glad and upset at the same moment. Every inch of her existence was radiating nervousness and panick. Her hormones were high as the adventure was more thrilling than she expected. She was going to stay alone, start a new life and live independently where no one's going to threaten her for eating three time meal and living under the roof. Where no one's going to threaten her for marriage to some disgusting guy.

She'll earn herself and spend on herself, she'll work hard day and night to provide herself all the comfort she'd been longing all this time. There was no place in her life for a man. She hated marriages.

Veronica never understood the logic behind marriage. Two people sign a agreement to live together for all their lives when they develop the mutual feeling of love. But the society where she grew up, arrange marriages were common and the name itself freaked her out, that how can a woman live with a man whom she barely knows.

She only witnessed failed marriages in her family and even her own parents were the example of a fail couple in which only her mother was trying to pull up the strings together and making efforts. Her father was a selfish man who didn't loved her mother, only liked to spent money for comfort but never let his wife lay a finger on his money.

That was the main reason she hated men. And she promised herself that she's never going to marry, she planned that when she'll get settled, she'll adopt a son and daughter. She will take care of them like a mother and will groom them to be decent human beings. Not the ones like her parents.

She soon closed her eyes and laid her head on the back of seat, dreaming about the future she wanted for herself. It was pure happiness for her to think about the new beginnings.

It was a 10 hour long journey. She soon drove off to sleep as the sun itself hid behind the shadows. The moon appeared and gleamed with the stars. Tomorrow morning was a clear canvas which she was going to paint.

It was 06:00 am in the morning, when she stirred in her sleep after getting irritated by a constant baby cry, next to her ears. A woman, close to her age was trying to feed her baby while he cried with full volume. And instead of helping, her husband was scolding her for being annoying and careless, that she can't even caretake of her child.

She despised them, both the man and woman. She always loathed those innocent woman who never stand up for their own cause and bear violence of their husbands like they are some creatures ruling them. She was proud of herself, that she was not like them and was more strong and brave.

She took out her earphones and plugged them again in her ears. In an hour, she was going to reach her destination. So she cleaned her face with the wet wipe, and ate a sandwich which she bought from her university canteen while running to the station. She was thankful for her brain that she realized and bought it or else she would have died of hunger in this 10 hour long journey. She munched the sandwich and looked out of the window. The sun was slowly rising up and people were grabbing there stuff together as the final station was not far. She ate her sandwich and drank water. Taking out her phone, she checked the name of hostel again and it's location. Her student advisor really helped her alot in finding a decent girls hostel for her stay, which was also close to the university.

After a half an hour, the train reached its destination and doors were unlocked. She pulled the bag on her shoulder and made her way through colliding people, and got out of the train. She walked out of the platform and exited the large doors.

It was a fresh, beautiful morning where everything looked so peaceful and new than before. The light, cold breeze of winter swept her face and she realized that it was cold here. She hugged herself and rubbed her arms to radiate some heat. Breathing the air once again, was calming to her nerves.

She moved forward and sat in a cab. She instructed the driver where she had to reach. The driver didn't troubled much and understood in the first stance that where she was heading to.

She analyzed the new city through the window and couldn't help feeling the satisfaction inside herself.

"I finally escaped" she told herself proudly. She was trying to awake her wounded heart who had been damaged of all the abuse she faced everyday from her family and violence she tolerated.

She knew, she'll be alive once again after this city will accept her.

The cab finally reached the hostel and she paid the driver. The old building which had maximum three floors looked full of busy girls. There were several creepers around the building whose branches were covering the most of the structure, making it look green everywhere.

There was a small lawn at the front where girls were sitting on the grass. And finally a large metal gate was in front of her which boldly presented the name of place in metal carved figures "Gilmore Girls Hostel".

As she stepped closer to the gate, a warning was nailed into the wall, which had something written in red.

"Warning! No men allowed inside this place!" She smirked mischievously in satisfaction.

She opened the rusted gate, and entered inside. As she walked inside on the rockey pathway towards the building, the girls turned around their heads and watched her weirdly as if she was some creepy alien. She hated their stares, she never liked unnecessary attention.

"What's with those people? Can't they mind their own shit?" She thought in irritation. Their focused eyes were making her uncomfortable. She finally entered the building and went inside the office, which was located in the beginning of the corridor at her left side.

She stepped in and was met with a female receptionist who gave her a cheeky smile, and soon faded as she realized she was not someone from the hostel.
