My stay in the palace was hell to me, I'm indeed suffering just like the king promised me.

After spending two days in the dungeon without food or water, I turned out to be a slave for everyone.

They molest me a lot and make me pass through pains, but then, I'm glad the princess was recovering from the shot, at least I'll leave very soon.

It's been over two weeks since I began staying in the palace, and the only thing in mind is my birthday.

I'll be turning eighteen tomorrow, and I'll shift for the first time.

But it hurts me that I'll be celebrating it in pain, and not in happiness like the others.

"Hazel, the king sent for you in his room." One of the maids referred to me.

I've been the one cleaning Alpha Onyx's room since I became a slave. He body shames me, face shames me and mocks me even in the presence of people.

I don't need to be told that he hates everything about me, and I'm used to it already.

Just like the maid said, I moved to his doorpost and knocked on the door.

"Bitch, come in now." He ordered me.

Certain times I keep wondering why he uses abusive words on me when he's not sure if I'm probably the one at the door.

Anyways, it's none of my business.

I walked into the room to see a lady resting her head on his chest. That face is familiar, because she keeps visiting the king always.

If I can recall the name Alpha Onyx's mother used on her when she was scolding her to stay away from her son, she is Selah by name.

I wonder why the Luna dislikes the lady despite how beautiful she is with a nice body shape.

Alpha Onyx doesn't care, because he keeps telling his mother that nothing will stop him from making Selah his Luna.

Who cares? I only want to leave the palace, if possible tonight so I can shift for the first time and find my mate too.

"Look, this room looks tattered, and I want it to be scrubbed and dusted tomorrow. Make sure you wash all my dirty clothes too." He referred to me.

I nodded and bowed down. "Yes my king."

"Shut your mouth, he's not your king, you murderer." The lady scolded me.

I felt like pouncing on her instantly, but the glares from the king waved away such thought.

Since I had nothing to do in the room again, I left the passageway but stumbled on one of his friends.

"Greetings, Alpha Earl." I greeted him.

I was very sure he was here to see the king, and he's the only one who cheers with me.

"How are you doing?" He asked me, and I nodded.

"I'm fine, what of my brother?" That's what haunts me a lot.

"He's okay, I visited him today and he told me that tomorrow is your birthday, so he gave me this to give to you." He handed a wrapped flower to me.

The scent was so sweet that I smiled at it.

"You'll be shifting for the first time tomorrow and if possible, you'll find your mate too. I wish you a happy birthday in advance." Earl uttered, smiling.

I returned the smile too and then left with the flower.

The next day…..

I woke up so early and was expecting to shift like other wolves, but couldn't.

"Does it mean that I can't shift, or today isn't my birthday?" I contemplated in grief.

I walked outside the little hut given to me as a room and kept staring at the moon that was already fading.

"Was it my fault? Don't I have a wolf?" I broke up into tears. "So it's true that my family is under a curse, and because of this I won't have a wolf. How will I know my mate?" I was in deep pain at the moment.

This is more bitter than being a slave, because the pack will be making fun of me.

I've not heard of anyone not having a wolf in my pack, I'm very sure that I am the first person to experience this.

Tears soaked up my cloth before the sunrise, then I headed to the king's room to clean it up as he ordered me the past day.

When I opened my eyes, I noticed the sunrise in my room already. That's when I knew that I woke up a bit late.

Probably, I was going on a date with Selah, and my two friends, Nykon and Earl will be coming along with their girlfriends too.

I sluggishly climbed down from the king sized bed and staggered into the bathroom to wash my face.

"That asshole will be here soon, I need to leave before she starts cleaning up the room." I murmured when I recalled that I had ordered Hazel to clean up my room.

I was busy washing my face when I inhaled a strong scent that smells like a rose flower.

"Where's that scent coming from? There's no rose flower in the palace." I thought and arched my brows.

I tried not to perceive the scent again, but it was becoming stronger and attracted to me.

Then I walked out of the bathroom to see Hazel packing my dirty clothes.

"The scent signifies the presence of my mate which I have nothing to do with." I murmured and walked closer to Hazel, then drew her up.

She stood before me panicking.

"Do you know anything about mate? Have you found your mate? Have you shifted for the first time?" I asked her multiple questions.

I could see how scared she was.

"Yes, I know what mating is all about and I have none… but…"

"But what?" I interrupted her.

"Today is my eighteenth birthday and I'm expecting to meet my mate." She replied to me.

I nodded. "When did you shift?"

That question happened to send shivers down her spine, because I noticed goose pimples all over her body.

"I don't think I have a wolf, because I couldn't shift." She replied to me.

I took a deep breath. "I wonder what pushed the moon goddess to give me a cursed and wolf-less human being like you as a mate." I yelled at her and gripped her throat.

"To hell with you being my mate, I better stay without a mate than having you as one." Then I pushed her to the ground.

"I Alpha king Onyx Asher, thereby reject you Hazel from being my mate. You are banished from this pack." I declared.

She got to her knees. "Reject me but please don't banish me."

Who cares? I walked to the gong in my room and rang it aloud, then a guard walked in immediately.

"Take her out and make sure she leaves this pack completely with her brother." I ordered the guard and he dragged Hazel up.
