31| This Was Better
Summer was literally trembling and still rooted to the spot as she watched the man leave, looking disgruntled and furious. She collapsed on the floor when her legs could no longer support her. She suddenly felt drained. This was like a deja vu. She didn’t know how long she sat there, staring at the door, fearing as if it would be flung open suddenly. She let out a strangled yelp when the door actually opened. Barbara entered and gasped.    “Summer?” she murmured before rushing towards the girl and helping her up. The older woman guided her to the living room and making her sit. A glass of cold water was pressed into her hand. She gulped it down, realising how parched she was.   “What happened?” Liam asked after Summer had placed the glass back on the coffee table. The young seer stared blankly at Barbara before mumbling, “A...a

32| Princess Serena Returns
Summer, or now as she should call herself, Serena belatedly realises that the car doesn’t take a straight path as it should. After riding for a while, she has to shield her eyes from blinding light and before long; they are in a completely different place. Gone is the deserted road lined with trees on either side. In its place, there’s a huge gate, probably built with bronze in front of them. She swallowed down the thick lump that felt like it would stifle her breath and turned her questioning gaze towards her father.    “We are home,” her father replied softly. A smile softened his otherwise fearsome face. The fae king was not in his human form anymore, and Serena realised that she did not mind. The gates opened smoothly, and the car rolled in. Serena’s heart drummed in her chest, her stomach knotted and unknotted as the car manoeuvred around a huge circular-shaped fountain and finally

33| The Crumbling Empire
Dorian relished in the stunned silence that followed after his announcement. Even though his mood had been sour and bitter from yesterday, this little moment managed to ebb and soothe that slightly. If they only knew he had rejected her in the first place.... “You promised to take her back!” Kai snarled, totally not happy by anything. He mentally sighed. Nowadays, it felt as if even his wolf had alienated him. The feeling wasn’t pleasant.  “What?” His thoughts were cut short by his grandfather. A single word managed to carry several emotions, but disbelief was the strongest. He squared his shoulder. “Yes.”   “Nonsense! How can she be your mate? Why should we believe you?” Alpha Gavin sneered. The audacity of this man. Dorian fixed him with a menacing glare. “Do not dare to doubt me.” Kai had tak

34| Missing Links
Serena’s mouth remained agape for the better part of the tour. From the chandeliers, to the magical fountains, from the musical room to the garden filled with fireflies, from the huge ball room to the enormous dining hall — everything awed her.    Jordan, to her surprise, was really an agreeable guy, who made her feel comfortable. Midway in the tour, she had started to enjoy it actually, her trepidations slowly ebbing away and giving way to easy, albeit small, smiles and occasional chuckles.    He cracked jokes, stage-whispered stuff about the members in the Fae kingdom as if it's top secret and provided a lot of context to some places, like how the musical room acquired its name or how many feasts and balls had been held till date and so on. He did most of the talking and filled the awkward silences with his chatter. She a

35| Grace
Serena once again checked her reflection in the mirror. Anxiety made her pull at her long sleeves even more. She didn’t like her scars and despite the momentary ease yesterday; she felt her anxiety rushing back two-fold today. Whom did her father want her to meet? She was amazed when the staff had brought her clothes this morning.    She had chosen a long-sleeved knee-length dress. The midnight blue brought out her pale skin even more and she almost thought of changing into something else. But when her gaze flickered to the other options, she realized that there weren’t any other long-sleeved dresses. She brushed her hair, taming the red curls with hairpins.    She didn’t expect this meeting to be at breakfast and almost wished that she had been anywhere but here. She put on light makeup and wrenched her scrutinising gaze a

36| Amie
“You! How did you manage to mess it up! Why did you let her go!”    Dorian blinked at the Augur, unfazed by the older man’s fury, his almost reddened face or the bulging vein on his forehead. He crossed his arms across his chest and continued staring at him while he rambled away and spewed nonsense. Kai, however, wanted to rip off his tongue and claw at his throat, the office was empty and no one would know until it would be too late, but Dorian knew that wouldn’t be...civil.    “Are you done?” he finally asked, cutting the Augur off, mid-anger rant. He uncrossed his legs and stood up from the couch. The Augur’s nostrils flared. He stomped the cane he was carrying on the hardwood floor, the sound echoing in the empty cabin.    “Answer me,” he hissed. Dorian co

37| Alpha's Visit to the Fae Land
“Call Vulcan and tell him I want to meet him. Immediately,” Dorian growled into the phone. Kyle hurriedly acknowledged his demand and ended the call. Dorian paced in his room. He would have marched into his palace, the guards and decorum be damned had he known the whereabouts. Not even Barbara or Liam would divulge the location. “Oath and promises, my ass,” he muttered under his breath. His train of thoughts came to a halt when he heard a familiar male voice. “What did you wish to talk to me about?”    He whirled around and found Vulcan standing, frowning at him. Dorian scowled. “Yes, I did.”    “Well, what is it?” the fae king asked. Dorian showed him the crumpled scroll instead of saying anything. Vulcan took it from his hand and read the contents. His lips pressed into a thin line. He clenched his jaw and

38| Downfall
Serena blinked when she heard Mr. King addressed Jordan, who had frozen on the spot. She gazed at the latter in confusion while his eyes remained trained on the alpha beside her. “P-prince?” she couldn’t help but repeat. She looked from one to the other as the men glared at each other.  Jordan was the first one to break eye contact. His gaze softened when they met Serena’s. “I will explain it to you later.” Serena pursed her lips and nodded uncertainly and Dorian hated the way she just...obeyed. He hated the way Jordan dared to look at his mate and the way his mate trusted that man.   “Why are you here?” he asked Dorian sharply.  “To meet my mate,” came the prompt and possessive reply and had Ser

39| The Mark Surfaces
Serena gulped nervously. She could definitely not tell him about her visions. It marred her judgement, clouding and painting it with doubt. Was he sincere at what he meant? Or was this all a mere pretence? Did he really want to court her?    She asked, “Well...well I...I saw your red eyes once. And-and the choice should have been left to me.” She had no idea from where all this courage was oozing out, but he didn’t look mad at her indignant reply.    Dorian looked away and pursed his lips. He then looked back at her and said, “I know. Trust me, many people have told me this. But...I didn’t want to be burdened.” The fact that he was insecure was left unsaid. Serena blinked, looking unimpressed. He flung his hands. “I didn’t want you to be burdened, either. I bet you imagined your life with someone, right? But have you imagin

40| Reason Unfurled
Serena called Barbara later and recounted everything. The latter sounded quite surprised on hearing this. “He went to fae kingdom?” Barbara repeated in awe. Serena had never heard her so taken aback. “Yes,” she mumbled, her cheeks heating up when she now remembered how she had a conversation in this very room.  “What do you think? What is your decision?” Serena sighed. “I...think...I should give him a chance.” Her...mate looked vulnerable while he explained his actions. Even though it was painful for her, she wanted to consider. Barbara hummed in agreement. “Alright. Keep me informed and if you need me to give him some piece of advice then I will.”  Serena was slightly taken aback at the protective tone in
