32| Princess Serena Returns
Summer, or now as she should call herself, Serena belatedly realises that the car doesn’t take a straight path as it should. After riding for a while, she has to shield her eyes from blinding light and before long; they are in a completely different place. Gone is the deserted road lined with trees on either side. In its place, there’s a huge gate, probably built with bronze in front of them. She swallowed down the thick lump that felt like it would stifle her breath and turned her questioning gaze towards her father.
“We are home,” her father replied softly. A smile softened his otherwise fearsome face. The fae king was not in his human form anymore, and Serena realised that she did not mind. The gates opened smoothly, and the car rolled in. Serena’s heart drummed in her chest, her stomach knotted and unknotted as the car manoeuvred around a huge circular-shaped fountain and finally

Serena’s mouth remained agape for the better part of the tour. From the chandeliers, to the magical fountains, from the musical room to the garden filled with fireflies, from the huge ball room to the enormous dining hall — everything awed her.
