Chapter 10 - A Change of Heart?
Derris turned out to be a lot more creative than I would have ever thought because five minutes later, I was on my knees, preparing to scrub the floor with...wait for it...a toothbrush! Derris had this authoritative air hanging over him as he stood over me, a smirk forming on his lips. I glanced at the toothbrush in my hand, then at the bucket of foamy water beside me and up at him.  "What exactly am I doing?" I asked, still a bit unsure.  "Isn't it clear? I want you to scrub this whole lobby clean using only the toothbrush," he grinned devilishly, a clear sign that he was going to enjoy making me suffer. Once again, I glanced at the pristine floor and looked back at him confused.  "What exactly do you want me to clean here? The floors are as clean as physically possible." On hearing my words, Derris frowned and furrowed his brows in thought. He left soon after which I took to mean he'd given up on punishing me but I rec

Chapter 11 - Is This A Date?
Despite arriving home quite late, I was lucky enough to avoid being scolded by my dad since he came home later than I did. All because of Derris' sudden act of generosity. Thinking back, I realized that I would never truly understand him but it didn't stop me from wishing his attitude would carry on till the next day.Who knows? Maybe tonight was just a sign that things were finally about to go my way. Only time would tell.Morning came and I did what I always did: got up from bed, said a prayer, made breakfast for dad and tried not to get on his bad side, took a shower, got dressed, met up with Nellie and walked to school with her. Since Nellie had some stuff to do with her partner, Caleb Stone concerning the English project, she left me in the parking lot to meet up with him. As I watched her leave, I was suddenly reminded of the project which I'd all but forgotten. Sure, the deadline wasn't for weeks but that didn't mean we didn't have to work on it. I would hav

Chapter 12 - Two Personalities
After Aria left, things progressed smoothly from then on, better than I expected. For the rest of the day, I wasn't treated like Derris' errand girl. Instead, he treated me like an equal, for once. It was an experience that I would remember forever.By the time we got back to his home, it was getting pretty late so I wanted to get home as soon as possible and I told him so."Sure," he answered simply and waved over the driver from the day before. He told me to get back in the car and gave the driver the same instruction as before. Once the driver got in the car, he cupped my cheek through the open car window of the backseat where I was seated and gave a little smile. "See you tomorrow, Red," he mumbled under his breath and pressed his cheek to my forehead. It was only for a few seconds but it was more than enough. I could only blink as my body was tried to process what just happened because I didn't quite get it too.On pul

Chapter 13 - Makeover!
On hearing the distinctly familiar voice, I whirled around and sure enough, it was him. Max Crest. "Oh! It's you. Morning," I addressed him, cheerfully, hoping that I'd wiped all evidence of tears away from my face. He didn't seem to buy it though. "Have you been crying? And what's with the clothes?" I looked down at the maid like outfit I was wearing and tried to think of some excuse as to why I wasn't wearing my uniform but I'd never been a good liar so I tried diverting the topic instead. "I haven't seen you in school for a few days. Have you been sick or something?" I placed my hand against his temple, hoping that would distract him. It didn't work. "Nice try, Allison but I'm on to you. Back to my question, why were you crying and why aren't you dressed in your uniform? And the truth please," his voice, though not commanding, told me that I had no choice but to tell him or he would find out either way. So I told him. Obviously, I d

Chapter 14 - The Confrontation
On arriving back at school, I saw that it was already recess which meant that I wouldn't get to miss History which was right after recess. Heaving a sigh of relief, I turned to Max and clasped my hands in front of him."Thanks so so much for this, Max. You're an absolute lifesaver!" I whispered gracefully."It's fine, Allison," Max smiled just a bit, holding my hands."Still thanks a lot," I turned and began heading in the direction of my locker when an all-so familiar voice called my name."Allison, is that you?" I instantly whirled around on hearing his voice. His eyes locked with him and he strode towards me with fierce eyes and a scowl on his face. Oh no!"Just where the heck have you? Where are your clothes? And...where is my sushi?" he glanced at my empty hands and looked back at me. "So... answer my questions!""I-I..." I tried speaking but the words got caught in my throat."She was with me," Max placed a hand on

Chapter 15 - School Project
I arrived at Derris' estate with my heart literally in my throat. After being let in by the butler, I slowly made my way to his room. With a pounding heart, I gulped and knocked on the door. No answer.I knocked even louder but still, no answer. After knocking for the fifth time with no affirmation to come in, I decided to go ahead and open the door. I did and popped my head in to find no one in the room.Great. Now I feel like an idiot for knocking on the door to an empty room.I moved back and closed the door, only to find Derris standing right behind me."Ahh!" I yelped, jumping back in fright, hitting my elbow against the door pretty hard. "Geez, you scared me."The expression on his face told me he could care less about me so I didn't bother telling him about my elbow."You wanted to see me?" I said when the silence got too intense."Yeah, the last thing I want right now is to see you but we do have to work on our project so unfo

Chapter 16 - A Date!
I'd never been more surprised by anything else in my entire life than when Max asked me out and that's saying a lot considering all that's happened with Derris in the last few days.Looking back at Max, I tried to look for signs that suggested foul play. Maybe it was a joke or a prank because there was no way that Max Crest, international superstar was actually asking me out, right?"So what do you say?" Max pushed for an answer."Wait, you're not joking?" I levelled a stare at him."No. Why would I be?" "Um, you're actually serious about going on a date with me?" I asked again."Yes. So is that a yes?" he flashed me a toothy smile."Uh, I guess so?" I wasn't too sure."So yes then?""Yes?" I replied, still a bit confused at what was going on."Great. That's nice to hear. What time do I pick you up?""Uh four, I guess.""Four. I'll see you then. Do you have my number?""No. I could give

Chapter 17 - Double Date?
Despite all my earlier fears and reservations, my date with Max had been progressing smoothly and might have stayed that way but then he showed up. And by he, yes I do mean the one and only Derris Fox."Mind if I sit?" he asked, already claiming the seat beside me. As he did, I could see a tall blonde girl take the only available seat at the table beside Max.What exactly was going on? I wanted to ask.Max beat me to it, leaning in until his face was in Derris' face."Derris, what exactly are you doing here?" he demanded through gritted teeth."Whatever are you talking about, dear friend?" he smiled back innocently."Cut the bull, Derris. It's not funny. I'm here on a date with Allison so why exactly are you here?" Max levelled a stare at him."Well what a coincidence then. I'm also here on a date. Max, Allison, meet my date, Clarissa," the blonde girl waved and smiled sweetly at Max and I.Under the table, I clenched my fist r

Chapter 18 - Not My Lucky Day
After cleaning up in the bathroom, I set on the long trek to Nellie's home. Afterall, it wasn't like I could walk in there after all that had happened and all that I'd said and asked for a ride.I'm not sure my heart would even be able to handle that. It was still processing the shock from literally telling two of the most popular musicians of this time to stay away from me.I would never know where the bravery came but it was never going to repeat itself so it was probably best to stay as far away from them as possible. On stepping out of the restaurant, I instantly shivered as a sudden blast of air hit me right in the face. I hadn't realized it would be this cold or I would have brought my jacket and as my shoulder and arms were bare, they were subject to the chilly air.Deciding to fight through it, I crossed my arms and continued walking. It was a beautiful starry night so it wasn't hard for me to see my way plus there were street lights.I'd o

Chapter 19 - Suspect
Hours after the disastrous test and locker prank, my locker had been cleaned and aired out by maintenance and I was well over this day. The only thing I wanted was for school to be over so I could get home and settle down with a tub of Rocky Road. On my way to my last class for the day, I was accosted by none other than Derris Fox AKA the number one suspect for the locker prank."Hey you," he fell in step beside me. I threw a glance at him to find him grinning at me which wasn't weird on its one but enough to make me suspicious. He was being way too nice."Hey," I mumbled in reply. His grin disappeared and he stepped forward, effectively blocking my path. "What's wrong?" he asked, looking positively concerned. I heaved a sigh as I gazed into his eyes, looking for any sign that he was hiding something. I didn't see anything other than pure concern. Then again, I'd never been able to read him so I didn't know what to believe."It's nothin
