“Sammy. Marco. Take these two to go play.” Jess said, softly smiling at them. “Okay, Jess.” Sammy said cheerfully. “Hi! Dex leaned back in his chair and rubbed his tired eyes. He knew that he would be busy after breaking everyone out of Bernard’s cells but he was beginning to feel like he had bitten off more than he could chew. Dex admired her courage even though he felt like Ronald was overstepping his boundaries by suddenly dragging her into it. Maribell looked over at Dex with unsure eyes but when he nodded his head that it was okay then she sighed and leaned forward. Maribell and Margo were sitting at a table in the bar area with their coffee and tea discussing the results from her doctor’s visit when they began to hear yelling. They both stared wide eyed at the door where the members had gone wondering what was happening inside until the doors suddenly burst open and Joker and Kane came tumbling out. To their surprise the two men were brawling with some of the younger members. They looked at each other for a split second before jumping out of the way. Chapter Eighteen

Horatio had finished packing the last of his bags when he heard a knock at his door. He reached for his gun and took off the safety. He took slow steady steps to the door and peered out through the peephole. He frowned when he didn’t see anyone standing there. He moved to the side and pulled back the curtain. Looking out the window he didn’t see anyone in the vicinity. He frowned as he took one last look out the window. He pulled the curtain shut, reholstered his gun, and grabbed his bags. He peered out through the window one last time and bolted through the door. He ran to his car and threw his bags inside. He hopped into the front seat of his car and threw it in reverse. He backed out of the parking lot and took off down the highway putting as much distance between him and Bernard and his insane quest.

Chapter Nineteen

Margo sighed as sweat rolled down her face and back. Somehow their game of hide and seek had turned into a game of tag. Even some of the other adults had gotten involved. It didn’t take long for the game to turn into a free for all. She couldn’t have been more thankful to hear Jess yell at them to stop horsing around and eat. “Machine?” Margo murmured. “How many of the members were stabbed during the attack?” “Um, Jess said it fifteen.” He said, frowning. “How many stab wounds each?” She asked, looking up with a glint in her eyes that had one of the men taking a step back. “She didn’t say. One second.” He said as he sent her a message. A moment later his phone alerted him to a new message. He looked down at the screen and frowned. He sent another message and got an answer immediately. He read it and sighed before looking back up at Margo. “Sixty stab wounds total. No deaths.” He said.
