Chapter Seventy
Amy POVOnce we are finished feeding Ellie and Beth, we return to the bedroom to set everything up. I giggle when Layla's jaw nearly hits the floor in shock when she sees everything I have delivered for the twins.“When do you get all this, Amy?” “This morning when you went with Zach.” She shakes her head, reading the boxes; so far, we have a pram, baby bath, change table, nappies, and spare bottles. Layla will die when she sees what Diana has in the kitchen. Layla looks a little dazed as she walks around the room, then turns to me when I say, “Don't worry, I saved the clothes shopping for you; as soon as we work out how to set the pram up, we can go.” Layla frowns as she opens the box, chewing her bottom lip; she shrugs,“I have no bloody idea how this goes together,” Diana chuckles from the doorway, “It's ok, girls; I have it covered.” Within minutes she has the pram up and ready for us. I laugh, “How the hell did you do that.” Diana raises her eyebrows as she says,“You fo

Nathan POV I fucked up; Layla didn't leave me, she was taken from me by two psychopaths, and I can't kill them; she already has. What the fuck am I going to do to make this right. Guilt has been gnawing at my gut since Amy told me. Layla was the best thing ever to happen to me, and I blew it. Then to make matters worse, I slept with several unmated females in my pack, and Layla knows. What the fuck have I done? Amy still isn't speaking to me, and I have no idea how to fix anything. Drew walks into my office, handing me a coffee. I look at him and ask, “How do I make things right with Layla?” He shrugs as he sits across from me and says, “I have no idea, Nathan. Have you tried to contact her?” I shake my head. “No,” He growls, “Well, if you don't make the first move, you're not going to get anywhere, are you?” “I don't know what to say to her, Drew.” “Well, sorry, would be a good fucking start, wouldn't it” Drew has a point, but we both know sorry isn't going to cut it. Layla POV Ellie and Beth are growing so fast; they are constantly smiling; I can spend hours watching them when they are asleep or awake. Ellie started chuckling for the first time yesterday, and Beth followed minutes later. It's the best sound in the world when a baby laughs. I smile, walking to their cot to ensure they are still asleep before I go downstairs to meet Zach. We jog around the outskirts of town and meet Marian and Monique at the training arena. After the wolves have finished training, I ask Zach, Marian, and Monique to meet me in my office. I jog home and run upstairs for a shower. Diana has finished feeding Ellie and Beth and put them back in their cot; they snuggle into each other and fall asleep. “Is it normal for them to sleep so much?” She giggles as she says, “Yes, but don't get used to it. In another couple of months, you will be praying for them to go to sleep.” I chuckle as I grab my clothes and go to the bathroom. After a quick shower, I mind-link Za

Layla POVI was hoping to get here before Nathan; he hasn't taken my eyes off me. Zach snorts as he says,“Is that him?” I nod. “Yes” “He's smaller than I thought he would be.”I laugh, shaking my head as I go to open the door and say,“Everyone is smaller than you, Zach.” Zach reached across my seat, putting his hand on mine,“Stay where you are, Layla; it's time to get this show on the road.” Then he climbs out of the car, nods to Jackson, and opens my door for me; when I climb out of the vehicle, he kisses me on my forehead before saying,“I will get the girls out, sweetheart, if you want to say hello to your mother.” I chuckle before whispering, “Omg, your crazy; please don't overdo it, Zach.” He winks and slaps me on my ass before opening the backdoor to get Ellie out. I can feel Nathan's anger reaching me from where I am standing; I take Ellie off Zach so he can get Beth and motion for him to follow me to the porch. Nathan smiles, saying, “It's good to see you, Layla.”

Layla POVI watch Nathan as he fidgets in the chair; there is no denying that he is one of the most incredible-looking men I have ever laid eyes on, but I don't feel the overwhelming pull of the mate bond anymore because of his actions, not mine. I turn to Nathan as he says, “I am sorry, Layla. I don't know what else to say.”“There is nothing you can say, Nathan.” “I still want you as my Luna; we can make this work.” I frown, “I am an Alpha, Nathan; you want me to step down and hand my pack to you?”He crosses his arms over his chest as he says,“Not Zach; he won't be coming with us.”I raise my eyebrows at him and ask, “Where will Zach be going?”He stares at me in bewilderment, “I won't have Zach on my territory, Layla.”I narrow my eyes at him,“Don't you mean our territory, Nathan?”“You know what I mean, Layla.”“You want to banish Zach?”He nods, “Yes.”I needed to hear him say it, then I asked,“What about all the she-wolves you fucked, Nathan? Are you going to banish th

Layla POV Declan's a sneaky prick, but why would he go to such an elaborate scheme to get another pack to come for us. “Zach, why would Declan go to such lengths to do this?” He frowns, “What did your parents tell you about the werewolf society Layla.” I shrug, “Nothing, Zach; my father was an asshole, and he banished my mother when I was ten years old.” Zach's knuckles turned white as he gripped the steering wheel; a tone of disbelief entered his voice as he asked, “Nothing. Are you serious?” “Yes, Zach.” “Ok, I will keep the history lesson short. Have you ever heard anyone talk about a female Alpha before you?” I shake my head “Nope.” “That's because they are rare. If a female with Alpha blood in her veins shows any special abilities, she is hunted and killed. I have no doubt there must be a handful of female Alpha’s scattered across the world, but they would be hard to find.” “That's why Jackson and Leon wanted us to have allies, isn't it?” “Yes, you were not s

Darius POV I am standing there dumbfounded with my mouth hanging open when Riley says, “Did she really just do that, or am I hallucinating?” He laughs as he says “She just dismissed you like you were nothing, and you let her?” “I know she is cute, isn't she?” The massive shaggy-haired wolf growls, “mate,” at the same time as my warrior Anita runs across the clearing, jumping into his arms. The blonde growls, “Don't you dare go to the packhouse Zach; take her to one of the empty houses?” Zach holds up his hand in a peace gesture as he carries Anita further into their territory. The blonde looks disgusted as she shakes her head and walks toward me. She doesn't show any fear as she says, “My name is Layla; tell your wolves to stand down.” I incline my head at her, “Darius, this is my beta, Riley.” She tilts her head to one side as she looks at Riley, then motions us to follow her as she says, “My Beta’s Sebastian, Marian and Monique, and of course Zach, who just ran of

Layla POV I could kill Zach; of all the times he could have found his mate, it had to be today; I actually felt sorry for the girl. By the time Zach’s finished with her, she won't be able to walk for a week. It's not that I am jealous because I am not; it's just right now, I could do with a little bit of his advice. When Zach said the wolf from the mountain, I was expecting Darius to look like a bear, but no, he doesn't. I noticed everything about Darius as soon as I laid eyes on him. Darius has caramel brown eyes, flecked with gold surrounded by a thick hazy, black limbal ring. Thick black eyelashes any woman would die to have, a rugged, unshaven jaw, and sunkissed honey-colored skin. His chocolate brown hair is short on the back and sides and a little longer on the top. Darius’s eyes crinkled at the edges when he smiled, showing perfect white teeth. Don't get me started on his lips; the man has the most alluring lips I have ever seen. Darius is six foot three inches tall; broad-mu

Darius POV We stayed late at the packhouse tonight; it's evident that Layla loves Ellie and Beth, but I intend to play a significant part in their upbringing. I got up, walked to the front door, and asked Gray, “Did you talk to her wolf?” He growls, “Not really; she said her name was Lea but wouldn't say anything else.” The flash of a white wolf runs past the house; I laugh when Gray jumps up, “That's Lea; let's go, Darius.” I walked out of the house and shifted, giving Gray control; Lea ran to the area where Maddie's grave was. Gray slows as we approach the pond; Layla is kneeling beside Maddie's grave, talking to her. She turns toward Gray, and I shift back; Layla is breathtaking; her white-blonde hair flows in waves to her ass; Layla is tall slim, and well-toned; I can tell by her long slim legs that she runs a lot; I smile. Her breast is the perfect size for my hands; I am positive Layla was made just for me. Her green eyes sparkle in the moonlight as she turns her head

Chapter Seventy-Nine
Layla POV I am still sitting in my office; my mood hasn't improved since the meeting with Darius and Riley, ‘Who the fuck do they think they are?' Why haven't I got a mate yet? Really, bit fucking personal; don't you think, he only came into my life a couple of days ago. What do I look like, a bleeding heart? Lea irritates me further by saying, “Darius might be our second chance, mate, Layla.” I growl. “Are you ready to let your guard down yet, Lea?” She whimpers “I don't know.” I frown “Well, neither do I.” ‘What if we tell him a small part of what happened to us, Layla?” “Like what, Lea?” Lea’s voice is uncertain as she says, “Only about Nathan.” “Why?” “Because I can feel the moons pull to his wolf Layla.” I rub my forehead and say, “Really?” “Yes.” “I am not rushing into anything, Lea; Darius needs to earn our trust before we can even think about getting close to him.” “Ok, but I am going to talk to Gray.” “Suit yourself, Lea, but don't tell him e
