1. Chapter One.

I swallowed deeply as the frigid winds wrapped around my body and gave me shivers. My boot clung to the ground, sending hollow noises through the streets as the gloomy night shook menacingly.I hurriedly brushed my cheeks away as tears clouded my view. I sighed feeling almost hopeless and ready to give up. Walking down the deserted street, I experienced nothingness. Was I really as gullible as everyone gathered of me?The worst possible decision I could have made was to leave work and stop close to my boyfriend's place. In the hours since I was caught, it has been challenging to accept the existence of vampires. The transition of the once-fictional world of fairytales into reality would require some getting accustomed to.I hadn't even had a chance to reflect. I questioned if I was being sought after. Things weren't what they seemed to be or used to be, but suddenly reality had started to set in, and I was more than aware of this and was beginning to accept it.What appeared to be fiction in this universe, I now questioned. If vampires were real, other made-up stories might also be as genuine as they come.In my bed, cuddling I was lost as to how I was feeling just now. I slowly dozed off to what appeared to be a night of blissful tranquilly because my body had clearly exceeded its sleep-deprivation tolerance levels.I begged Catherine to spend the night with me just before falling asleep. My fear of what lurked in the darkness persisted even after the doors were locked.I shuddered at the idea of having my life mercilessly sucked out of my body because it was obvious that not everyone in this place was as trustworthy. I felt like time had stopped when I hurried back to my room, passing maids and, happily, no Vampire's who would love to sink their canines into my luscious neck for mere pleasure.I slid down the door frame, clutching my chest and panting for breath. I felt thankful to be alive after my sheer idiocy.Had I been possessed or something? Had I been forced to do something? What on earth were these peculiar feelings I was experiencing? Every single person who had expressed concern for me either died or managed to reclaim it in some other way, like unspoken words.The stinging pain of not being taken seriously now weighing heavily on me. I hadn't felt the sun against my skin in what felt like years. I longed to know how luscious the air's breeze felt. I longed to feel the grass below my feet.
