41. Piano Lessons
I came awake slowly, stretching my hands behind to look for Gwaine. My heart sunk when I realized his side of the bed was empty. My heart felt heavy, I could almost taste the budding sadness in it. It was a few hours before daybreak so I wondered where he had vanished to. I reached over to the bed post and turned on the lamp beside me. I pulled the duvet away and stood up, walking towards the bathroom.I turned on the light and walked in, noting that Gwaine wasn’t here either. My reflection in the mirror caught my eye so I walked closer, examining my naked body. There were a few hickeys and random scratches on my skin, each one bore testimony to the night we had had. Lightly running my finger over one of the now visible scars on my neck, I remembered how it had come to be. I closed my eyes as I conjured the image of him digging his teeth lightly into my flesh. My hand roamed further and arrived at another sore spot, this time a rather long gash along my ribcage. The scar still hurt

42. Prison Break
Gwaine’s POV:What was that?” Catherine asked, clinging to the sleeve of my shirt. I helped her come down from my legs as we both stared at the door.“Go up into your room and shut the door. Don’t open the door for anyone except me.” I said, walking towards the door and holding it open for her. Catherine’s face twisted as she frowned.“Why can’t I come with you? I also want to know what’s going on.” She said stubbornly. This wasn’t the time for arguments.“Catherine, you would do as I ask of you because it is not a request!” I said, my voice higher than I intended for it to be. She looked at me for a few seconds as if trying to decide if I was serious or not. Her face wasn’t completely visible due to the poor lighting in the room but the sadness in her eyes were so obvious it made my heart twist. I hated seeing her like that but this was the only way to be sure she was safe. She hurried over, sharing one last glance with me before walking away. From the loud stumping of her feet, I co

43. An Injury
I stood in the kitchen, dicing vegetables. My mind was far away as I was deeply lost in thoughts. The past week has been an extremely busy one, with people moving in and out of the house. The security around the perimeter has been tightened, amongst many other changes.Gwaine and I hardly spend a lot of time together these days, save for when we have our piano lessons. It’s been a week since the last time we shared a bed.Thinking about those lessons, I seem to look forward to them, counting down to the time because that was the only time I saw him. He was absent most of the day, skipping meals and reappearing at night for our lessons. It seemed to be the only thing that brought him back home.I wondered if he was really okay as he was under a lot of stress. I couldn’t ask him how he was faring because the last time I did, he said he was fine. I could tell from the way he avoided my gaze that he was far from that.A sharp pain on my index fingers drew me abruptly out my reverie. I scr

44. Waiting Up
I sat in the living room, a blanket wrapped around my legs as I watched the clock, waiting for the Alpha to return home. I still felt like I was being watched but the only thing that gave me a sense of security was the number of guards in the perimeter. No one was going to break into a heavily guarded house to hurt me.After a couple of hours, It was starting to get a lot harder to keep my eyes open. I caught myself dosing off and intervals so I stood up and headed to the kitchen to get a glass of water in the hopes that it would keep the dizziness at bay.Immediately I stepped out of the living area, I noticed the overwhelming feeling of someone arching me intently ended. It was as though I only felt uncomfortable in the living area. I pulled out a cold bottle of water and emptied its contents into a glass cup, consuming it completely in a few gulps. After replacing the cup where I had taken it from, I headed back to the sitting room, determined to stay awake until the arrival of the

45. Pack Run
I came awake slowly, turning behind only to find Gwaine getting dressed in the dark. I sat upright, wondering if he was just about to ghost on me again, even after I had complained.“Are you about to leave me again?” I questioned, tucking my hair behind my ears and out of my face. He walked closer, leaned in and planted a kiss on my forehead.“This time, it’s really not my fault. There’s a pack run today.” He said. I frowned at him, my puzzled expression signaling that I had no idea what that is.“What does that mean?” I asked. I knew very little about pack rules and werewolf life as I was never taught. Most of their activities were new to me.“It’s just an early morning run for every pack member. It’s a tradition that helps unify the pack and with everything going on, I want to assure the members of my pack that they have nothing to worry about.” He replied, taking my hand in his as he explained his intentions.“Ohh.” I said, as understanding finally hit. Looking away from Gwaine, I

46. Not Normal
Gwaine’s POVThe large clearing was filled with pack members. The turn up made me warm inside. The people have been scared recently, barely participating in anything outdoor related so I was glad to see that almost everyone was present.I turned, my eyes darting in every corner as I searched for Catherine. She wasn’t here. A sweat rolled down my face as I searched again, this time walking towards the car to see if she had gotten bored and decided to take a quick nap inside.I had specifically asked her to stay close to me at all times but she clearly hadn’t. The thought of her being with Regan crossed my mind and I sighed in relief. I searched for Regan and he was pretty easy to find. From where I stood, I sighted him talking to a woman with a short blonde hair.It was probably Catherine, I thought. Maybe she didn’t want to bother me, that should explain why she went with Regan. She had her back to me and seemed to be laughing hard at whatever he was saying.A wave of anger flashed th

47. Big Wolf Ride
I sat leaning on the rock to maintain a straight posture. Gwaine was up on his feet and he was as unclad as a child. He bent over and let out a loud howl then fell on his knees with a thud. He made a few low grunts before his back protruded and the sound of cracking bones filled the air. I closed my eyes as it wasn’t a pretty sight. The next time I opened them, Gwaine’s wolf, Vilkus was towering above me.It was the largest wolf I’ve ever seen and seemed to have grown even bigger since the last time I saw it. The fur on his skin was as thick as anything I’ve ever seen and I watched him as he stood there, shaking his head occasionally. He stared at me, the gold rimmed eyes seemed to be staring right into my soul.Vilkus nudged me with his snout, as if he was asking me to ride on him.He came lower and I climbed on his back, using the rock I had rested my head on earlier to support my weight. He stood up when I was settled and the ran along the river bank with the wind on both our face

48. Cat’s Wolf
I sat at the river bank, my drawing board perfectly mounted. The joyful Melodies of the birds chirping in a distance echoed through the forests, all the way to the river bank. It was sunny so the water felt warm as the waves splashed against my feet. I stared at the river for a while, taking in the peaceful view. I picked a stone and tossed it into the river, watching the ripples with a smile on my face.I returned to the rock I had occupied earlier and started to draw. I faced the river and since I loved the view of the glassy water and the forest behind it, I decided to draw it so as to keep this memory with me forever.I sketched the water, recreating the ripples I had created with the rock earlier. Next, I drew the thick rows of green trees that lined the other side of the river. After adding final touches to the sky, I stood up and headed towards the river. It was hot and a bath in the river would definitely make me feel a lot better. I removed my sundress, slowly untying the kno

49. Sweet Mornings
I sat on my bed, the most part of my body was curled up in Gwaine’s arms as I shivered with fear. He whispered soothing words that calmed me like magic. His presence alone provided enough comfort and my heart warmed at the thought that he must’ve heard me scream in my sleep and probably came to make sure I was okay.I tightened my grip around him, sniffing in a tear that managed to roll out of my eye.“It’s alright, Catherine. You’re safe.” I heard him say in that all too familiar deep morning baritone of his.Tilting my head up gently so I can come face to face with him, he mobbed back a bit so I could see his face before asking, “Do you want to talk about the nightmare you had?”I wasn’t sure I wanted to relieve it but a part of me believes that talking about it would make me feel a lot better so I nodded my head in affirmation. If some form of danger was looming, it was best he knew before hand.He wiped my tears and sweat with a kerchief, stroking my hair slowly when he was done.“

50. Training
We sat in Gwaine’s car, the ear throbbing music playing was enough to put anyone in a bad mood. I sat quietly, trying my best to endure this modern form of torture. After a few minutes, I realized I couldn’t. “Is your music taste actually this bad or you’re trying to trigger something in me?”He passed me an offended glance, then proceeded to turn the whole thing off.“You go ahead and pick a song, let’s see if you’re any better.” He said, smiling as he nudged me to go on.“I’d rather enjoy the peace and quiet.” I replied, reclining in my sit.He scoffed, “Scared you’d be worse than I am? I get.” He let out a deep mocking laughter and I couldn’t help but join in.“I’m not scared of a challenge, I just prefer the silence.”He turned the music back on and when he noticed the frown that settled on my face, he changed it into something more calming. I let out a sigh of relief as I closed my eyes and let myself appreciate the music. We drove for a while, the most part of the drive was qui
