21: Still At Odds
Jarren’s POV                       It’s been an entire two weeks since I talked to Jillie. She was avoiding me. She didn’t sit beside me in classes, and she’d find some excuse to tell the others why she wasn’t in the cafeteria for lunch. It was driving me up the wall. I didn’t know what to say to people when they asked what was going on with her. I didn’t know what to say when people asked if we were still together. I knew the answer, but saying it out loud would finalize it, and I couldn’t deal with that.           I made my way to Drama and took a seat at our table. This was the one class that Jillie sat remotely close to me in. I too

22: The Morning After
I turned off the shower and wrapped a towel around myself. I dried off and slipped on my yellow panties and bra before putting the towel in the hamper and walking out of the bathroom. I stopped in my tracks when I saw Jarren sitting on the window seat. I paused for a moment before opening my top drawer. I pulled out some shorts and a tank top and slipped them on quickly. He didn’t say anything. I walked over and sat on my bed slowly. It was silent for what felt like hours.“What do you want?” I finally asked softly.“To talk to you.” He stood up and took something out of his pocket. He took a step toward me, held out the little bottle, and gave it to me. “Just hear me out. If you think that I’ll hurt you, just use this.”      &nb

23: Not Rejecting You
I finished eating my breakfast and loaded the dishes into the dishwasher. After I was done, I walked into the living room and sat on the couch beside my dad. “James Bond” was on. It had to be one of his all-time favorite movies. We sat there and watched it together. I loved spending time with my dad, even if we were silent the entire time.            Once the movie was done, I made my way back up the stairs and into my room. I picked up my phone and noticed I had four missed calls. One from Jarren, One from Alyx, and two from my cousin Kaileeh. I called her back first.“Hello,” she answered on the second ring.“Hey cousin, what’s up?”“Hey Jillie, nothing much,

24: Time to Tell Her
The cabin was about two and a half hours out. The sun had begun to set by the time we got there. I got out of the car and opened the trunk, pulling out my suitcase and Jillie’s while Mason grabbed his and Alyx’s luggage. I led the way to the front door and opened it, flipping on the light once inside the house. The girls looked around in awe. Mason had been here before.“Come on, babe. Let’s put our bags up,” Mason told Alyx. She nodded and followed him down the hall.“This is beautiful,” Jillie said, still looking around. She resembled a child in a toy store.I chuckled. “Let’s go put these bags up.”           I led the way down the hall and stopped at the first room. Walking inside, I flipped the light switch. I walked over to the closet and sat my luggage down. I turned around and saw Jillie lying back on the bed.“Come on.”“Where are w

25: Valentine's Day Promise
Jarren’s POV                 It was just my luck that Valentine’s Day fell on a Monday. Oh well. I’d skipped the first few classes of school. I had to find the perfect present for Jillie. I know what you’re thinking. Why am I last-minute shopping? Well, I’m not. I’d been trying to find the right present for a week now. I was beginning to get frustrated.“Mom, what am I going to do?” I asked, taking a seat on the couch in her office.“About what?“Valentine’s Day.”She looked up. “Still no present?” I shook my head. “Did you go to the jeweler?&rd

26: Vampire Things
Jillie’s POV “I promise to love you every moment of my existence. Happy Valentine’s Day.” He opened the box, and I gasped, bringing my hand to my mouth.           Inside the box was a beautiful ring. It was twisted and intertwined together. On the twisted bands, it had: Jillie, Jarren, For Ever. I was shocked when I noticed the words were shimmering. How was that possible?“It’s a vampire thing,” he replied to my silent question.“Jarren, this is so beautiful,” I whispered. “Well, I was hoping to get something as beautiful as you, but I couldn’t find anything, so I settled for

26: A Flashback in Time
Unknown POV            I watched them as they got out of the car. I’d been waiting six damn hours for her to get home. I was furious to see him with her, but I knew that’s where she’d be. I was even more enraged when I saw him getting out of the car with her. They walked to the door together, and she looked around. Maybe trying to see if her parents were pulling in.           Stupid leech. He didn’t even know I was watching him. Didn’t even know I was there. How could he possibly protect her if he couldn’t even sense me? I watched her close the door behind him. Fury boiled up inside of me.            I jumped from the tree in the neighbor&rsqu

27: Locked Away Memories
Jillie’s POV              I watched as he trailed off and grew silent. I waited on him to continue, but he didn’t. Seconds went by, and then minutes. It was like he was in a trance. He seemed to be watching the scene take place. “Jarren,” I said softly, but it was enough to snap him out of it. He looked at me. “What happened next?” He took a deep breath. “That’s just it, Jillie. I’m not sure. All I know is that when I woke up the next morning, Annabelle was dead.” I gasped. “Did you……?” I trialed off. “Kill her? I thought I didn’t; I knew I couldn’t have. I would never have done that to Carson, we were best friends, but my scent was the only on

28: Rainbows, Lollipops - Kittens & Lemon Drops
Jillie’s POV “Daddy, come on. Her plane lands in forty minutes.” I yelled at my Dad. It was Thursday, and we were supposed to pick up Kaileeh from the airport.“I’m coming, princess.” He made his way from his room in the back, and we headed out the door with Mom.           I climbed into the backseat of Dad’s Bentley and headed toward the airport. The ride was silent except for the music on the radio. I was excited as we got closer to the airport. I hadn’t seen Kaileeh since July, and I’d missed her.           We pulled into the airport parking lot and found a space close to the doors. I hopped out of the car, s

29: Beast of a Man
Jillie's POV “I met my husband Demetri when I was about eighteen. In the time I’d grown up in, I’d been a woman for about two years. It was customary for fathers to pick their daughter’s husbands. Well, like most young women of that era, I didn’t object or refuse when my father told me that I was to marry Gordon Peterson. He was the son of a wealthy banker. Even though I knew Gordon was a terribly spoiled brat, and he was quite a little snot,” she said, chuckling. “Anyway, I held my contentment in. It was disrespectful to object to your father’s wishes. A few weeks went by, and I was completely miserable. I’d always loved the moonlight, so I went for a walk one night. I’d made it to the end of the street, and I saw him just under the street lantern. It was the first time I’d ever laid eyes on Demetri.”
