Chapter 61
Maddox’s POV Lottie is asleep on Caren’s bed when I go back upstairs. Parker is standing in the doorway watching over her. I gestured for him to follow me downstairs, seeing that she was settled. “Who was it? Most people just walk in.” He questioned. I can feel my face scrunching as I tell him, “It was the arsehole that rejected Caren.” His face matched mine now. He said nothing as he went to walk past me. I put my hand on his chest. “I sorted it. He isn’t coming back.” He looks down at my hand. “I doubt if she is either.” He responds. “Where would she have gone?” I asked myself out loud, knowing that Lottie would want to look for her. “She could have gone to Nix’s pack. Honestly, they owe her big time. I have seen nothing like it.” “You never told me what happened while you were there.” I asked him. I think I just want a change of subject. It has been a stressful few days, it would be nice to hear some good news. We got comfy on the couch and starte

Chapter 62
Parker’s POV Growing up, I have always looked up to my big brother. He has always been there for me and I will always be there for him. I stood by his side when they were insulting Lottie and tried to tell him who his mate should be. I couldn’t have been prouder of him as he told them in no uncertain terms that Lottie was his mate and he would rather reject his Alpha position than her. I would do that for Dani in a heartbeat, and she is not even my mate yet. They pushed him one last time and that is what he did. He renounced his Alpha role over the entire pack, their shocked faces, when he called their bluff. I saw them as the bond between them was destroyed. I didn’t feel it, I guess it is because we are brothers. I’m embarrassed by the way they are all behaving, considering they are grown adults. They thought he would bend and break when confronted by a crowd of them. They obviously don’t know him that well. Maybe another Alpha would have, but not Maddox. As I w

Chapter 63
Lottie’s POV In the latter part of the journey to River Valley Pack, I worry about Caren again. I hope she has gone home. She has to have gone home. I can’t lose her. She is my family. “Calm down.” Ember tells me. The worry is causing me to have a headache, so I took a pill. Which helps me settle down pretty quickly. When we arrive, Dad welcomes us with open arms. I think he is happy we are back. Regardless of the circumstances. Once inside, he introduces us to a guest named Richard. He is an old acquaintance of Beta Celeb’s. He is pleasant enough, told me I look like my mom, which I never tire of hearing, but he keeps staring at me, which is creeping me out a little. Maddox and I are directed towards a bedroom for us to use during our stay in the pack house. It has been a long day for us both and we both want to rest. I can’t imagine how he feels. He hasn’t slept much lately. We both lay on the bed. I looked into his eyes. It’s then I process what he has been through,

Chapter 64
Lottie’s POV Ember thought I had a better chance of getting us out of this than she did. I am not convinced, though. Ember had the better chance of escape, as she is faster than me. But I have my fire. I have no choice in the decision when she shifts. I am trying to stay focused and in control when the wolves are attacking me. But the nagging thought that they have killed my dad keeps appearing in my mind and occasionally I send a fireball flying, but that means I have stopped throwing flames at closer wolves. I could smell Xavier behind me. I was trying to give him an opportunity to get away. He could have gotten help. But he has returned to me, to help me tackle the imminent dangers. There is only one thing to do now, is fight. Fight with everything I have. Stacey warned me during our training session that if I get too worked up, there is a chance the fire will just ooze from my body, exploding like when a bomb goes off. If that happens, everything in a mile

Chapter 65
Lottie’s POV Maddox hasn’t woken up since they dragged inside him. The cut on his neck isn’t healing. I can see blood seeping out of the wound. “That blade had better not be laced with anything.” Edward scolded Richard. “She was being resistive. I was motivating her.” He said, attempting to justify his actions. Edward takes a deep breath through his nose while he looks at me. “Get him on that table and get him monitored. He had better survive the silver in his bloodstream.” They drag Maddox into the dining room and take a machine in after him. “Get rid of that.” Edward says to someone, pointing towards my father’s body. Silver on the blade? I have heard that before. My eyes widen in shock when I remember. “You were the ones that killed my mother.” He looks at me and grins. “Not me personally, but I had a hand in it.” I stood there, shocked he had just openly admitted to taking part in her murder. “Dalton won’t part with his precious elementals, so I planned

Ember’s POV “You need your strength.” are the last words I say to Lottie before I block her out. I can’t heal her body after using her elemental abilities. She has never used that much energy and her human body needs to regenerate. I just don’t know how long it will take. I do as she asks though and go through the woods towards her mom’s house. Wolves surround the place. There must be around 20 of them. Either they are guarding the house to stop anyone getting in or to stop anyone from getting out. Either way, the house appeared quiet. In theory, this would be the first place Lottie would head to if she escaped. There is no way I am getting in there. I needed to keep moving before the rest of Edward’s followers found me. I began running. I'm running without knowing where I'm headed. After a lot of running, I came across a stream. I take a long drink and take the opportunity to catch my breath. I am hungry, but I can eat next time I stop. From a distance, I hear wol

Chapter 67
Rayne’s POV “Isaac called. He needs to speak to me and Summer together.” I told Elizabeth as I hung up my phone, I planned on calling him back when we were together. “You’d best hurry. They will go to bed soon”. She tells me. It may have been a long time since I last spoke to Isaac, but I owe him. We all do. “You go, I will call her.” My mate tells me as she fights with our kids. I ran to the palace as fast as I could. Isaac wouldn’t have called if it wasn’t urgent. He had never called before. Summer and her family were gathered around the table playing cards. I dashed over to her home. “I have just had a call from Isaac.” I tell them all. Summer looked concerned. “He needs to speak to us.” I told my sister. “Call him back and put him on loudspeaker,” Nathan says. I know no one, especially Nathan and Dawson, has ever forgotten Isaac’s essential part in Summer’s rescue. Not to mention risking his life to save Jax. I dialed his number. He answered straight away.

Chapter 68
Eden’s POV I remember Lottie. I only met her once, years ago. But I remember her. She and her sister could withstand our out-of-control aura’s. I remember it was nice to actually play with someone else other than my brothers. It was nice. I really felt connected to the pair of them. Then mom went and upset her, so she left. It was so nice to meet someone who looked different, like me. It made me feel better about myself. I wasn’t alone with my unique looks. I have never met anyone who looked like her since that day. But here she is, an emotional mess in front of me. What could have happened to her? I looked at my uncles, who were all staring at us. Everyone in the room looked confused. They wouldn’t know about Lottie. It was before we went to live at the palace, I personally never went back to that human town, but I know mom did. I wonder if Max and Jax would remember her? I wonder what happened to her sister. They seemed close. Lottie continued sobbing, her hear

Chapter 69
Lottie’s POV The note Steff left for us at the diner said, ‘True Love is never lost, it can always be found, especially when there is a King around’. I am on my way to meet the King’s. Steff’s note must have been referring to Maddox, other elements of her note have come true. I know it. It has to be referring to him. I was sick with excitement on the way to the palace and I mean physically sick. Adam got the brunt of it. I vomited straight on to his lap. It just kept coming. Then Eden vomited because I was vomiting. He got some of that too. It was like a vomit fest in the back seat of the SUV. I apologized over and over again. I just couldn’t control it. When we pulled into the services, we all went and got freshened up. Adam should have stayed there longer because he stank. A few hours later, we finally made it to the palace. I wanted to find the King’s immediately. But Eden said they were with her mom at the hospital, where she still works as a doctor. Eden took

Lottie’s POV We head back to the sitting room when I am feeling composed. The Queen doesn’t rush me. When I walk in, I feel hopeful when I see two young men there. “Do you remember Lottie?” Eden shouts across the room. They both come walking towards me “Vaguely” they say at the same time. I looked at the pair. “Max.” I smiled at him before looking at his brother. “Jax. You still look the same.” “That is a skill, not many people can tell us apart.” Jax says. “Oh, it’s easy even after all these years. Max is prettier.” Jax’s face drops and Max burst out laughing. “Nice one.” Max says. Joking aside, though, I scoured the room, looking for Maddox. But he wasn’t there. I shouldn’t have got my hopes up so much, but I have to keep hoping. I am sitting by Eden. I explained to all the all the Royal family the things I feel they ought to know, leaving out the part about my elemental gift. It’s that part of me I am most cautious about revealing. Now more than ever, I heed my da
