Chapter 31: Accident at the Site

Ariana's POVDamien asked Michael to take me to my room. I was unhappy. I was not sure what was going to happen to me with Damien's family coming in one after the other. I am only a carrier bag for his child. I stared at Damien over Michael's shoulders and met his gaze. His expression was unreadable. I lowered my gaze as Michael continued to climb the staircase. He carried me down the hall towards my room."Please, put me down," I said, staring at the floor, as soon as we were alone. "It's a short distance from here to my room. I can walk," I added, and shifted my gaze, staring ahead."Hmm," I heard Michael say, and he put my feet down.I put my hand on the wall and held Michael's shoulders briefly to balance myself. I was still feeling weak and drowsy. I lifted my head, stared ahead of me, and realised my vision was a little blurry, but I could see. I let go of Michael and used the wall as support while I took steady steps towards my room."Why do I get the feeling you prefer Alpha D

Chapter 32: Unpleasant Encounter

Ariana's POVIn the cloud of dust which covered everyone, there were particles of stone which beat me up. I realised the guards had left Damien as I didn't feel any movement around him. So, I covered him with my body protectively to prevent him from getting hit by the stone particles. I held my breath and covered Damien's nose with my hands so he wouldn't breathe in the dusty air. I heard car engines, and I knew people were leaving the site. I was unsure how long I could hold my breath, but the dust began settling, and visibility became a little possible. I realised, aside from Damien's cars, all the other cars were gone. I saw the guards coming back to the place where I was lying on the ground with Damien. I guess they quickly moved back when they saw the cloud of dust coming. They carried Damien to the car. They didn't care about me. I stood up on my own, coughing, and started walking towards the car. I was covered in black sand. I got to Damien's car. He was lying motionless on t

Chapter 33: Flora General Hospital

Damien's POVThe last thing I remembered, while chatting with the business partner, was being hit in the head by something. It was quickly followed by an explosion. I felt something like sweat trickle down my face inside the helmet, which felt loose on my head. After this, darkness engulfed me.I was not sure how long I was out, but I slowly opened my eyes, and the first thing I saw was the familiar ceiling. I was inside one of the VIP wards, inside Flora General Hospital. The next person I saw was my father, he was sitting on a chair, his arms folded across his chest, staring at me with a frown. My head ached badly, and I could feel there was something on my head. I touched it and it was a bandage."You are finally awake. Good!" my father said to me, his voice laced with anger.I may be 28 years old, but that wasn't the reaction I was expecting from the man I called father after a near-death experience. I wondered what he was mad at me for. The fact that I didn't die or the fact that

Chapter 34: It Has to Be My Pups

Damien's POV"Victoria?" I asked, my voice sounding like I was choking."She needs us. She is under attack," Kai replied.Victoria left my ward a few minutes ago, right after my father. If anything, she could have caught up with my father. So, who could have attacked her? I thought, as I sat up on the bed, pushing the blanket off me.I put my feet down, but before I could slip my feet into my shoes, I felt another pain in my chest, making me bend over. "We need to hurry," Kai said.I stood up and exited the ward, wearing the patient's robe and barefoot. The hallway was empty. I rushed to the elevator and pressed for the garage. It soon opened, and I went inside. I reached the garage and I shifted into my wolf. My wolf was black with a white collar and very huge. It's midday, and I know a lot of people were going to freak out seeing an alpha wolf on the street, but it was the only way to get to my mate faster and save her. I went out onto the streets, and I was met with screams, but

Chapter 35: Damien's Strange Dream

Damien's POV"Yes, Alpha," Michael replied.Michael turned to walk away. I knew he was going to make some calls. He had just gotten to the exit when I stopped him with my words."Michael, I want to do it myself. Put them in the basement, and quickly find me a replacement," I said."Yes, alpha," Michael replied and exited the warehouse. I shifted my gaze to Dr Francis. He was on his knees, bent over Ariana on the ground. I saw he had dressed her wounds and put some bandage on them."Are my pups alright?" I asked, staring at him."From a physical examination, it appears so," Dr Francis replied, and I frowned."What do you mean? Are you by your statement saying, they could be in danger?" I asked, furrowing my brow."I am not saying anything in that regard. I was only able to do a physical examination, and everything is fine. I would have to run some tests if I want to know more," Dr Francis replied, staring at me while still kneeling next to Ariana, and I replied with a hmm."She appear

Chapter 36: Don't Take It Too Far

Ariana's POVI opened my eyes and found myself on a bed. I quickly sat up. With the curtain drawn, I couldn't tell if it was morning, night or day. I shifted my gaze in the direction of the clock, and it was 7 p.m.What day is it? I thought, as I wondered how I got back to the mansion. There was a bandage on my hand and a cut-out square shape plastered on my right side. I touched it and it hurt a little. I pulled myself to the edge of the bed and put my feet down. I recalled what happened at the mining site after I was left behind.I was looking for a place to hide just in case the rain starts to pour.I walked towards the mountain, hoping there was a place to hide. Just a distance away from the mountain, I saw this vicious wolf, about the size of a lion, growling, while taking slow steps towards me. I froze in my steps and briefly looked back. It was an empty street. There was no way I could outrun this wolf. I had no other alternative, so I started walking backwards, while the wol

Chapter 37: She Has Hidden Agenda

Damien's POVHow long have I been asleep? I thought, but had no answer. I didn't check the time when I entered the office. I relaxed in my seat, thinking about the dream. The rain had calmed down a bit, but it didn't seem like a good idea to drive in. I leaned forward in my seat as my mind went to Ariana. I stepped out of the office and headed for the restroom. I spy on them from the glass window on the door. Just like in my dream, Dr Francis was resting his head on the side of Ariana's bed. Ariana was still not awake. I moved into the big hall where the machineries are kept. I walked to the truck, just like in my dream, and I did find Michael asleep inside one of the trucks with his head hanging over the back seat. Was this a dream, or a revelation? I thought and scanned the whole environment, but found nothing amiss. I was not even sure what I was looking for. I returned to my office and sat behind the desk. Two hours went by, and the rain stopped. It was dark and quiet. I had alr

Chapter 38: Unexpected Defence

Ariana's POVI turned around in my chair, only to find Damien's mate standing at the widely opened door with her arms crossed over her chest, staring at me angrily. I thought this door could only be opened with a card. How did she open the door? I thought, staring at her in silence. She strode in after gently closing the door behind her. I stood up from behind the table as she approached me. She stopped a distance away from me. She landed a resounding slap across my face from the left without warning. I gasped, but I received another slap on the right immediately after I recovered from the first slap.I moved back before staring at her surprise. I saw her hand move again from my right side. I blocked her this time with my right hand and landed a slap across her face with my left hand."You dare slap me?" she questioned, and took a step back away from me, as we both rubbed our cheeks. "You dare slap me first," I replied angrily."I am Damien's mate. Your future Luna. I don't need a

Chapter 39: Wet Dream

Damien's POVIt was a few minutes past the hour 8 p.m. There were still a few things I needed to take care of before the next day. I grabbed my laptop and sat behind my study desk, and got to work. I am glad my pups were okay. I focused on the company file. It had only been a couple of minutes since I started working. I felt a sharp pain in my chest. I clenched my chest and suddenly bent over, in reaction to the pain. Our mate is in trouble again. Kai said, and I stood up immediately. I exited my room, and before I could proceed any further, I heard some noise coming from Ariana's room. I pushed the door open and found Victoria lying on her back, on the floor, and Ariana was curled up with her head suspended just a couple of inches above the floor. I tried to find out what was happening, and Victoria stood up. She started complaining to me about Ariana, but I felt uncomfortable. I knew immediately Ariana was in pain. I angrily yelled at Victoria, and she exited the room. I went to at

Chapter 40: Damien's Marriage

Damien's POV"Ariana," I called out to her, and she slowly turned to look at me. "What the hell?" I asked, shocked."Victoria, what are you doing in my room?" I questioned, wondering how she got in. I remembered I revoked the access code to my room. Ariana was the one I left in my room. So, how come Victoria is the one here, sitting on the couch? Or Ariana let her in? I thought."Please don't be mad at me, my alpha," Victoria said, her voice very low and trembling. "After I left your study, I remembered something and came back. I found you staggering towards the staircase. I followed you and called after you, but it was like you couldn't hear me. I followed you while studying you closely to understand what was happening," she narrated. "You got to your door and opened it. When you did, Ariana stormed out of the room. I was about to follow her to ask her what she was doing in your room, but you pulled me in," she continued and lowered her head. "I tried to stop you, but you took advan
