REGRET UNTIL SHE SAYS GOODBYE のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 241 - チャプター 250

THIRD PERSON'S POVDanielle's gaze cut from Daddy to Aunt Alyssa then Mommy. She didn't understand what was going on but it felt like being put between a bush with thorns, where one wrong move could cause the edges to sink into her skin.On one side was Daddy, who was curious to know what was going on and on the other was Aunt Alyssa, who was looking at her with a look of eagerness, as though she expected her to defend her and on the other was Mommy. She couldn't tell what Mommy was thinking and Mommy's gaze hadn't changed from the soft look she had given her earlier, unlike Aunt Alyssa's that almost seemed threatening.Danielle bit down on her lower lips, evading everyone's gazes by plunging her head downwards while trying to think of what to do and the best response to give to Daddy. She didn't want to offend Mommy but she also didn't want to incur Aunt Alyssa's wrath. For some reason, she felt anxious facing Aunt Alyssa and was somehow scared of what she would do if she told Daddy

SARA'S POV“I don’t always,” Derek replied and I gave him one of those side eyes I'd perfected over time with Rina. What did he mean by 'I don't always," when all I remembered was him doing exactly that.Maybe he meant towards other people because it couldn't be myself he was referring to. If so, something was terribly wrong with his memory.“You do when it comes to me,” I countered. “Especially when Alyssa is involved.”His jaw tightened slightly as though he didn't agree with me and then he said, “That doesn’t mean I won’t step in when I need to.”Again, my jaw slackened with astonishment.Derek?Step in? He'd never done that so what was he saying now and why did he feel the need to do so now?“And today was suddenly one of those times?” I asked, questions coming out sharper than intended.“Yes.”Still struck with disbelief, I stared at Derek for a long minute then shook my head in denial and paced once. “This doesn’t make sense. It makes not even an iota of sense. I don't understan

SARA'S POVLena didn't give me a chance to respond because in the same breath, she asked, "Do you know why the Reinhart contract was terminated?"I paused then took a step forward, setting my bag down on my desk before turning around to face her. "You heard?""Of course I heard. The whole company knows about it."That caused my eyes to widen. I didn't know that. The decision had been made in Vienna, so I assumed that it hadn't reached the company yet.Alaric hadn't given me a heads-up either but I guess it was just common knowledge that required common sense.Of course, word would get back to the company about the fallout of such a huge deal."How did you know that?" I asked, probing so I would know the extent of what Lena knew. She, apparently, didn't know much and it was reflected in her response."Well, some of the employees got wind of it and word has been spreading around. The executive don't seem to be happy with it and I even heard that Adrian wasn't satisfied with the outcome.

SARA'S POV I stood there for a long moment after ending the call, with my phone still warm in my palm. It seeped through my skin but it was merely just my fingers. It couldn’t break through the cold freeze that was my heart. All Derek had done was to ask where I was. That was it, that was all he said to me over the phone. When he called, my heart had pounded so hard in my chest, and for a split second, I feared he was calling to ask for a response regarding what we had discussed yesterday. After the first pound, my heart began to beat really fast, erratically, so much so that I couldn’t keep a count on the beats. But ultimately, the conversation went way differently than I imagined. It exceeded the bounds of my imagination too. There hadn’t been any pressure from Derek, neither was there any follow-up on what we discussed or insistence. It was a conversation that didn’t make any sense yet was casual. Except, Derek and I weren’t casual. We didn’t have that type of relationship and to

THIRD PERSON’S POV After all, Alyssa never did anything in passing. He couldn’t even recollect the last time her reactions weren’t exaggerated, just like his mother’s. “She didn’t complain,” Bethany added quickly, as if sensing his thoughts. “She would never…”“She did,” Derek said with surety. He didn’t need her lying to him about something he already knew.Bethany stiffened. “You don’t know that.” “I do,” Derek replied calmly. “Or else, you wouldn’t be standing here.” A flicker of irritation crossed her face. “You’re being very unfair.”“Am I?” He cocked his head, eyes boring deep into her.Bethany looked away instantly, irritation mixed with guilt intensifying in her gaze, right before she turned her gaze back to him and folded her arms. “What else could I have done? What else can I do? Alyssa was very upset and confused. She told me she didn’t understand why you wouldn’t see her and kept pushing all of your appointments with her forward.Derek frowned. “ I didn’t make any app
