ElleI find room three easily. The door stands before me, large and proud. The number three, engraved on a worn gold plate, shows a faint chip at its edge, but it’s been polished enough that most wouldn’t notice.I did though.Since I arrived at the door, I'd done nothing but stare at it as I tried to summon up the courage to press the card Roxy gave me against the reader. So far I've done a terrible job.Just think of the money, Elle.Think of the money.Drawing in a deep breath, I force down the wave of nerves crawling up my throat and shut my eyes as I press the card to the reader. There is a beep, then a click and the door falls open.I hesitate at the entrance, unable to go in but knowing I can't stay out. I could always run away and tell Roxy I'd changed my mind. She'd understand. But just how long did I expect her to keep understanding?Stepping deeper inside, my gaze darts around the room. Red lights bathe the entire space in a soft glow while another spotlight pierces the red

Aaron. It’s her. I’d recognise that fire anywhere. Black hair, those eyes that flare when she’s cornered. My Angel kneels in front of me, staring at me like she can't believe it herself. “Well, well, well, what do we have here?” I thought it would be difficult before I got to see her again, but apparently, fate had other plans. Not that I'm complaining. I've fucking missed her. Yes, I know it's only been a couple of hours but I'd be lying if I said that she didn't haunt my thoughts from the moment I left her in that dance room. Actually much longer than that. She'd looked almost disappointed to see me go and because of it, I'd considered calling my uncle and telling him to come find the bastard who owed The Cause himself. Luckily, I summoned up the courage and left and for it, I'd been rewarded by the universe twice in one night. My gaze trails down her face, taking her in. The same stormy eyes that looked down at me when she was on my lap now stare up at me, wide and wary

ElleThe man Aaron called earlier is named Cillian. He's tall and looks more like an extinguished gentleman than the kind of man who disposes of dead people for a living. He's dressed in a dark charcoal coat, gloves, and neatly polished shoes as he walks into the room looking more like death in a tailored suit with each step he takes closer. His gaze darts around the room, barely lingering anywhere for too long before finding my uncle's lifeless body slouched against the wall."Messy." He remarks. I notice he has an accent, unlike Aaron. Strangely enough, the two men look so much alike. They both have brown hair and the same facial structure, except Cillian's is more refined by age, and Aaron looks like a younger version of the man without a beard. Maybe their related.Cillian's eyes flick to where I'm seated on the floor and then to Aaron who's beside me. He curls a brow, "Who is this?" he asks but what I'm hearing is, Why isn't she dead.Aaron glances at me, then at the man "Her n

AaronElle stares at me expectantly as I round the Island until I'm standing beside her."What do you know about Uncle's previous jobs?" I ask her once I'm near. She tilts her head to the side, her brows knitting together."His previous jobs?" She repeats. "Nothing." Of course, she doesn't know. "So you know nothing about what he did before he became a trucker?"She shakes her head, "Am I supposed to?"Blowing out a breath, I drag my right hand along my jaw, "I suppose not, no."Elle watches me closely, holding my gaze when it connects with hers "I thought you were going to tell me why your staff's calling me your fiancé so why are we talking about my dead uncle?"You'd be surprised how often the dead speak through the living."She opens her mouth, then closes it. "What does that even mean?"My lips pull up in a smirk, "A lot of things." I corked my head, "Did you know he worked for my father"Her shoulders tense and her spine straightens in an almost comical way. From that reactio

Aaron"When I asked you what your intentions were with the girl I didn't expect this."Cillian says glancing down at the agreement inches away from me on my table, a disapproving scowl on his face. The document in question stares back at him, unwavering. I lean back in my chair, fingers steepled under my chin. “It was the most efficient solution,” I tell him swiftly, not wanting this conversation to drag out longer than it needs to.In reality, what I mean is that it was the only solution I could think of at the moment that could keep her safe from the council and keep me safe from her questions. The only other solution would be her death and well, I already know that's never going to happen. At least not by my hands or circumstances I can prevent."Efficient?" He murmurs, "Is that what you're calling it now?"If there is one thing I've learned when dealing with the enforcer of the Irish mafia, it's that besides my sister he is the only other person who has the ability to piss me off
