51: The Series의 모든 챕터: 챕터 181 - 챕터 190

As Lindsay drove to meet her husband, her mind raced about what Wren needed to tell her. If he was telling her to turn off her phone and radios, there must be a reason, but it worried her. What had he found? Was she in danger? Even more important, was Dillon in danger? She finally reached the area where Wren was waiting for her. It was in the middle of nowhere. The nearest house was over a mile away. She pulled her car onto a gravel side road and saw his car parked ahead of her. He was out of his vehicle, leaning against it. Where he had parked, he could see the river in the distance, and it seemed to be watching it. When she got out of her car, she saw him drop a cigarette butt on the gravel by his foot. He had not smoked since their first date years earlier and knew this was a bad sign. As she walked to where he was parked, she could hear that his car stereo was blaring the local radio station. When she reached him, she was surprised when he grabbed her, pinned her against his car

“Are you alright?” Wren asked her, feeling her shiver.“I was, but now I don’t know. Was my entire marriage to James a setup of some kind? I mean, I never met his family because he said they were estranged. When he died, they took over everything. I didn’t even have a funeral for him because they had him buried in the family plot out of state. They also made it clear I wasn’t welcome to attend his funeral. They said James' dying was my fault because of my work,” Lindsay told Wren, fighting the emotions she had.“I will find out the answers to all those questions; I promise you that. For now, try not to think about it or worry. If James did use you in that way, there is nothing that you could have done about it then or do about it now. I will find out why this ever began by any means necessary,” he said.Lindsay took his hand again and looked at it carefully. The bruises were several different colors, which meant whatever he had done, it had most likely been done over a few days. Since

Agent Wren Gold was sitting in his car in the dark. It was after midnight, and he hoped he would get some answers from what he was about to do. He watched as a man walked out of the building across from where he was parked and immediately began moving. He pulled his car in front of the man and rolled down the passenger window. “Get in the car,” Wren told him flatly. “I am not getting in your car,” the man laughed. “You can either get in the car on your own, or I will put you in the car. I can assure you that it will be much more pleasant for you to get in on your own,” Wren said as he leaned over and opened the door. “I know who you are, Agent Gold,” the man said as he got in. “Good for you. I hope, for your sake, you can give me the information I need,” Wren said as he started to drive away from the building. “I don’t know what you want from me. I don’t know anything,” the man said nervously. “You and I both know that is a lie.” “I don’t know anything about what you want to k

Lindsay arrived at the scene to find what felt like half of her department. Before getting out of her car, she saw Andy, Cat, Viktor, and Annie near Viktor’s personal vehicle. As soon as she stopped her patrol car, Cat began walking toward her with a puzzled look on her face. “What are you doing here?” Cat asked before Lindsay was even entirely out of her car. “What would make you think that I would not be here? You called the department, and they called me. So explain what happened. Cameron was not very clear on things,” Lindsay said. “It’s a little hard to explain. We had all been out to eat and were heading back to town. Viktor was driving, and Annie was next to him. Andy and I were in the back seat with Andy behind Viktor, and I was behind Annie,” Cat began. “We came around a corner, and out of nowhere, this shape began to appear in front of the car. It was almost like a mist of some kind. Viktor tried to miss it, but it passed through the car next to Annie and me on our right

“Darn right, I did. Jenny raised a house full of boys and puts up with me. If she says she wants to go see a movie, I take her to the movies, and I don’t even ask what it is that she wants to watch,” Big Bob said, smiling. “We now have proof that you are smarter than you look,” Little Bob laughed. “Of course, that doesn’t take too much, does it?” Lindsay rolled her eyes and said, “As much fun as it is to pick on Big Bob, we need to get back to the topic at hand, and that is Rich not showing up for work. I also want to know how your hand is, Cat.” Cat, who was sitting at her desk, placed both hands in front of her and began to look at them. She looked at her palms and the backs of her hands, making fists a few times before she answered. “My hand is fine now. It’s still a little cold, but that’s all. The circulation seems to be good, and I have normal sensation in it again,” Cat answered. “Do you mind if I check on Annie and help John if he needs it?” “No, go ahead, Cat. They could
