Ariel and Adrian The day dragged on in slow circles. Shadows shifted across the white hospital walls, nurses came and went, and the beeping monitor by Ariel’s bed ticked away like a clock no one wanted to hear. By evening, two palace maids returned with large trays of food. Steam rose from silver dishes, filling the corridor with the warm smell of rice, soup, and roasted meat.
