Claimed By The Wolfless Alpha のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 41 - チャプター 50

I turned my eyes to her, my blood becoming hotter by the second. “My pack has always been safe with me. Were you the one protecting them all these years? No. That was me. Not your father. Not your wolves. Me.” I jabbed my chest with my finger.Antonio growled again, louder this time, his fists clenched by his side. And I growled back louder. I wasn’t going to let him intimidate me, not now. Not everAnd for a moment, I allowed my gaze to wander back to Lacie. Her hands were folded demurely on her lap and she was glaring at me with her piercing blue eyes. I didn’t look away immediately and for a second, my mind drifted back to how it all started. It hadn’t started with me being head over heels in love with her or vice versa. We were just two friends who came together after my mate had rejected me. I’d felt so humiliated that I just needed something or someone to anchor me. And Lacie had been there. She’d shown me comfort in my time of need that I will forever be grateful

By the time I left Umma’s quarters, the sun had begun to dip into the horizon as evening closed in. I felt lighter than I did earlier. That was what having a moment with Umma does for me.peace.I know I should head to the site and see the work being done, but I needed to see Anisa. She was asleep when I got home last night, as she was when I left earlier this morning. I can’t wait for the luna ceremony so we can share the same bedroom. That is, if she agrees and is comfortable with that.“I won’t come to the site today. But I will be there early tomorrow morning. Also check in with Lady Martha regarding the ceremony food. Call for a meeting with the farmers and each merchant head for tomorrow afternoon.” I mindlinked Kosey.“Of course. About to go become a whipped man?”I smiled. “Sorry you can’t relate to that.” Then I shut off the bond. But as soon as I rounded the corner to our chambers, I saw her and Imani. They were crouchi

The pack market was a vivid scene straight out of a storybook. I had always imagined it in a specific way, but it was just my narrow-mindedness. Gorgeous stalls lined the streets, and small kiosks dotted the landscape. And in front of each stall, there were large tables that displayed the wares and other items.Everywhere we went, people smiled. It was not weird tight lipped smiles, instead it looked pretty happy. The pack members were actually welcoming, and excited for the upcoming ceremony.Except for the parliament and Arielle, I haven't gotten weird looks. Which reminded me, where was Arielle? I should ask Elian about her later. Some of the pack members stopped mid-walk to congratulate me and even pressed gifts into my palms. While others said they would wait until the official ceremony to give me a gift. We soon came upon the aromatherapy stall, which was an open-air canopy draped in silks and herbs. It smelled so good, and the air hung hea

I closed my eyes, trying to center myself, trying to ignore the way the drums echoed in my chest like a second heartbeat. But the only thing I could think about was Belinda and Lacie and how all of this would have been easier if I was mating with a she-wolf. It would just be one bite and a bond would be formed. But this was a gamble, too risky. It was a gamble I was willing to lose, and whether or not I marked Anisa today, nothing was going to change. It would be hard proving to my people that she is a worthy Luna if that happened, but it wouldn’t be impossible either. Finally, the band began to play slow music on the harp as everyone stood up to welcome the Luna's procession. I stood upright, a smile playing on my lips as Anisa came into view and my world stopped.I had no idea she was going to wear the dress Umma wore on a day like this years ago. And it fits her. She was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. Her black, curly hair flowed down in wa

ANISA.It's been a day since I got married.A day since my wolfless husband suddenly…shifted, as they called it.A day of him being…unconscious. A day since I held his cold body in my arms and screamed for help.A day since my heart got ripped away as I watched him wither in pain.Yesterday should have been a happy day, even if I wasn't happy getting married- fake married I mean, without my mother and Mubarak.Little did I know the day was going to turn upside down. It was the afternoon of the next day, yet, my husband remained unresponsive to everything around him.I shifted on my seat at the edge of the bed, staring down at his pale face, his hand in mine, tracing the seam where warm human skin gave way to coarse fur. His face looked like his: pale, gorgeous with furrowed brows, but his chest rose and fell like a beast fighting to breathe. All through the day and night, he had shifted from human to wolf form. One m
