Chapter 91 - Intense

Jessica POV We had been practicing everything for a few days and had not seen or heard anything from Elder Susan. I was both relieved and anxious. Relieved to not have to deal with her, but anxious wondering what she would do next to test me. “Again, Jessica,” I heard Cole call out. I shook my head and refocused. I would start shifting with the next training programs. The warriors were taking turns. The more we fought the stronger I was getting. And it was agreed that I could not hold back as we needed to know how strong I really was. I had also not found any new powers. That was also concerning me. How do I know how to fight if I do not know what powers I will have. Marly had been researching the white wolf as well in our history books. She had some things to share after training today. I was looking forward to seeing her and Everly, as my time with them had been limited the past couple weeks of training.

Chapter 92 - Energy

Cole POV As we were getting closer to the anticipated battle date, the tension increased throughout the pack. Jessica was training every day. She was stronger and the warriors were getting stronger. They were learning how to work with her. It was magical watching them support each other. Jessica was thriving. Watching her engage with the warriors was showing them who she was. It was also building her confidence being around others as well as her fighting abilities. As I watched her, I learned her patterns and could see myself fighting beside her. I had not told anybody, but I was starting to experience headaches the past week. I had managed to hide the pain from Jessica and had not shared anything with Carson. I had no idea why or what they meant, but I had decided to go and see one of the doctors to see what was going on. I watched Jessica reposition herself for another sparring session.

Chapter 93 - Information

Jessica POV I was anxious to meet with Marly. We needed to know what was happening and how this could work. That Cole was gaining some powers was exciting for me. And scary. As scared as I was to take on this fight, I would be more frightened if I knew he was fighting with me. I sighed as we neared the pack house. “What is it?” Cole asked me as he still had his arm wrapped around my waist. “I just wonder if we will ever get past all this complexity,” I admitted. He smiled, “We will, and then we will be having pups, and living our lives to the fullest,” he assured me. “I hope so,” I murmured. Chapter 94 - Preparations

Cole POV We had spent hours with Marly and Carson fighting us. We were getting stronger but had yet to master using talents to our advantage. For that matter, I was still learning what special powers I had even inherited from Jess. I did not have everything she could do but the powers I did have seemed to be stronger than hers. Even though Jessica was focused on training, she was also learning from Marly some of her responsibilities as the Beta Female. I was in awe with everything that was being thrown at her, Jessica was absorbing and welcoming the challenge that came with the role. “When we are done training today, I have a couple families I want to visit,” Jessica shared with me. “Oh?” I asked unclear what might have been pressing enough to draw her attention from training. “Two of the wounded warriors are returning home today. I want to stop over and pass along my wishes for a speedy recovery,” she shared.

Chapter 95 - New Visitor

Jessica POV We spent the next couple of days training to the warriors training programs. They had been challenging Cole and me increasingly every day. They had been willing to put themselves in harm’s way to give us more training variations. As we finished up for the day, we recognized everyone was growing more and more tense. “We start later tomorrow morning,” Cole called out as the warriors headed home to their loved ones. “They need a break,” Cole murmured as we watched the final warriors leave the training field. “Everyone needs a break,” I agreed. We stood there simply watching until we were left standing alone. “When will it happen?” I questioned, as Cole turned to look at me. “Whenever it happens, we will be ready,” he promised me. Jessica POV We went about our days as the deadline for the battle came and went. We were becoming complacent in training. I feared we had trained hard for nothing. Grayson remained at the pack, although he had duties beyond us and had to come and go around his schedule. This was one of those times he was away. We had finished our training session, with the warriors going home exhausted once again. I worried that they were growing tired and would not be ready to fight when the time came. Jessica POV I could feel someone shaking me to wake up. The last I had heard was my scream before I passed out. “Wake up, Jess!” I heard Cole calling out to me, panic in his voice. My eyes slowly opened as I looked around. I was in my bed, my eyes finding Cole’s. “What happened?” I questioned, as I sat up and felt my body for wounds. “You were having a nightmare,” he shared as I looked at him in surprise. “It felt so real,” I mumbled, as I pushed the blankets off my body and stood beside the bed.
