It was a military ground carved into the heart of the estate, wide enough to hold a small town, bordered by black volcanic walls and cream stone towers, with channels of controlled magma running beneath iron grates along the outer paths. High banners hung from the walls, black and gold and silver, marked with the burning crown, dragon, and wolf. The morning sun poured over everything, catching armour, weapons, scales, and wings until the entire place looked like it had been built for war and ceremony together.And the army was already gathering. My steps slowed before I could stop them. There were so many. Rows upon rows of warriors filled the ground in disciplined formations.
